The Kumaon

Aside from the great location, views, food, design, and facilities, the best part was the young, friendly, welcoming, and helpful team running the show - the manager, chef, naturalist, and everyone else was fantastic! Every facility was top-notch, and every detail was meticulously designed for our comfort and convenience. Special efforts were made to make our daughter's birthday the most memorable possible; it was very touching, and we will remember it forever. One of ours became ill the day we arrived, and the manager arranged for doctors to accompany us to the hospital in Almora at night, where he remained with us until 2:30 AM, when we were returned to the property - a gesture like that is unforgettable, and we cannot thank Abhinav and his team enough for standing by us in such a situation. We also had a great time hanging out with Juno and Elsa, the most affectionate furry friends on the property. We had an excellent time watching birds on the property for almost the entire day, which was an added bonus. Overall, it was a holiday to remember for a very long time.

I simply loved this place. Can definitely visit again. In hills of Binsar home to Nanda Devi. Resort: 1. It is beautifully designed, combining modern architecture with the natural environment around it 2. you have to walk through village to go to hotel and the entrance gate is tiny, it confuses you, but the resort is exact opposite of that 3. doesn't have reception which I liked 4. Fireplace in common area 5. Books and board games at common area Room: 1. 10 rooms with lower & upper chalet. 2. The rooms are spacious and clean. It has window lounge seating & metal fireplace. 3. We took upper chalet which had huge terrace attached. 4. Washroom interior has been done with plants 5. Minimalist concept with grey cemented interiors. The amenities like tea, kettle, water etc are kept in cupboard 6. The cupboard is made in sleek way and the washroom door is same as cupboard, that the door + cupboard look like one plain surface 7. Heater is provided Food: 1. Restaurant serves local and organic food with proper course meals. 2. they focus on Kumaoni cuisine, giving visitors a taste of the local flavours 3. They make you sit & serve properly in thalis. They don't rush on food. Dining area is extremely beautiful. Open and indoor area 4. Indoor area has huge glass window giving undisturbed view of nature 5. its good to eat dinner outside enjoying chilly weather Staff: 1. attentive and friendly, making sure all your needs are taken care of 2. the team is very helpful with arrangements 3. they did amazing setup in my room for my birthday with flowers, cake and bonfire on balcony Activities: 1. Spa 2. Walk around nature. Go for trekks 3. Resort plans excursions like village tours 4. cafes nearby but we didn't go as resort was enough for us 5. you can go to Nainital, Bhimtal, Almora, Kasar devi temple, Ghodakal Temple, Kainchi dham, Kakrighat in Almora - can be done on the way too. 6. Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary

My husband and I arrived early evening after a long exhausting journey having visited Kedernath and Badrinath previously. After a drink on the terrace around a log fire, I retired to bed with post altitude sickness symptoms. I couldn’t have chosen a better place to fall ill. The kitchen sent me herbal medicine and I was back on my feet to enjoy this extraordinary property. The food is amazing, the staff are like family and the accommodation is what I call quiet luxury. The three dogs are the best behave pets I have ever encountered. It was our 29th wedding anniversary so a specially baked cake was much appreciated. Almora is breathtaking and the views of Nanda Devi from our bedroom is an image I will never forget. A visit to the near by Kesar Devi temple is a must as you will experience something unique.

My stay at the Kumaon was unforgettable. The hotel offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas, providing a serene and luxurious atmosphere. The design blends beautifully with the surroundings, creating an elegant, peaceful retreat. The staff was incredibly kind and discreet, ensuring privacy while attending to every need. The chef went above and beyond, crafting delicious Keto meals that were both imaginative and flavorful. The spa offered some of the best massages I’ve ever experienced, and the peaceful walks through nature around the hotel were a perfect escape. Highly recommend this hidden gem for anyone seeking tranquility, great food, and exceptional service.

Had the opportunity to visit this hidden gem called The Kumaon, located just ten kilometres ahead of Almora in Uttarakhand. And it was nothing short of paradise. Our family of five, spent four days here out of which we experienced the best of everything that was possible. From going on hikes, visiting the Kasar Devi Temple, enjoying the local Kumaoni cuisine, walking around the property and the forest to even stargazing and enjoying the rain! Very hard to come by such a tantalising experience. You’re very warmly greeted by all the staff members in this luxurious boutique property. Abhinav, the general manager takes special care of you by sharing fun facts and details about your surroundings and makes things very interesting. Suraj, the F&B manager gives you a great experience with the food and cocktails and lastly Suraj, the Naturalist did a fantastic job of taking us around on hikes and walks, and explained the flora and fauna really well! The house dogs, Juno, Elsa & Coco would keep you entertained the entire time. Waking up within the clouds, clear views of the Himalayas were some of my favourite views and also from my bed! The quality and freshness of the food really made it feel very filling, yet light. All in all, this vacation was relaxing, adventurous and satisfying, all of which was made possible because of the team at The Kumaon! Thank you for such a wonderful time. Hope to see you soon!

There is no way to describe how unique the experience of The Kumaon is. It is intentional in every detail, everything from the architecture to the mountain views to the natural landscape to the natural fibers/decor are a call for appreciation. The food is outstanding. All of the staff are very skillful, kind, comfortable, and helpful. Not a place to party, but a place to be fully present to the beauty. The architecture, eco/sustainability considerations, and the very unique spiritual history of Kasar Devi led me to this hotel… I have since returned, and look forward to yet another visit! It is perfection.
