I honestly don’t know what all the negative reviews are about, this is the 2nd time we have stayed here and we will absolutely return, the staff are so friendly, the food is amazing and the rooms were so comfy, yes it’s dated but it suits the ambience, if you want a 5 star hotel then book one! Recommend 100% ☺️ Room 3 has 2 mirrors in it!!!

There were two positives only, friendly staff and plenty of parking - but oh my word, the room was shockingly bad! Quite unbelievable I felt. There was very aged film on the window so no outlook at all, felt like a prison cell. Very oppressive. The mattress was very uncomfortable - hard and with ridges, possibly springs. There were stains on the walls, filth and mould around the window, black mould residue in the bathroom, a faulty board at the bottom of the bath and the shower screen needed a new edging. The thin towels had ragged edging and the desk was very shabby. Due to having poor sleep due to the mattress, the noise above my room which sounded like a constant extractor fan, was very annoying. The owner of this hotel should be ashamed to be charging for this room. Refurbishment desperately needed.

This is a very nice hotel in a great location. It has the potential to be really good, but is quite dated and shabby in places, which the new owners are aware of. Our room was small but newly painted. The bathroom had a lovely long bath but the shower was like something out of the 1970s. The public areas, especially the garden, are very nice and comfortable. There is the same menu every day, and because it is printed in a rather old fashioned way you expect the food to be average at best. However, although limited the food was home cooked and absolutely delicious, and the breakfast was excellent. The greatest asset of the hotel is the staff. They are unfailingly kind and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. When our tv broke down they looked for another one without success and so bought another one which was delivered within the hour. We wish the owners well with their plans. This deserves to be a very successful and classy business

Had a really nice stay here. Yes it's a bit run down but it was clean, the staff are lovely, the food was great and the room was comfy and spacious. Had a lovely very comfortable 4 poster bed with a view over the garden and I think whatever issue with the heating previous visitors have had has been fixed since it was toasty warm the whole time. Shower wasn't brilliant but did the job and there was a bath too. Was definitely a good choice and good value for money.

We had our daughter’s 3rd birthday party in the function hall at the Dunmar House Hotel at the weekend. The venue is perfect for a birthday party! We live locally but I didn’t realise that the hall was big enough for inflatables. The staff were all lovely and super helpful on the run up to the party and on the day. The buffet provided was lovely and the price was very reasonable especially in comparison to other venues. We would highly recommend and we will be popping up for lunch or dinner more often. We would definitely use the hall again for a party! Thanks for everything! Thank you also to Event on Trend for the light up number and Frozen cut out and King of Castle for the inflatables and soft play 😃

Stayed here beginning of July, attending concert in Stirling. Would have stayed nearer but all were sold out!. Saying that, wasn’t that far from Stirling and easily found. A short rough, potholed road leads to the hotel and a theme emerged. Met at reception by lovely lady, easy book in and given room 3 which overlooked the rear garden which looked lovely with several seats and tables. Pity had to see out through a cracked window! Bed furniture quite dated and slightly worn. Bed however very comfy. No mirror in the bedroom which was rather irksome for my wife. Left hotel about 5.30 pm and advised the receptionist that there was no mirror, she seemed surprised at this, and that the soap dispensers above the bathroom sink and in the shower were empty. Was noted and got impression that this would be resolved that night. Arrived back late evening and discovered nothing changed.. Did find a 50p sized cake of soup on the sink shelf so managed ablutions with that! Good nights sleep and then went down for breakfast. We had omelette which was rather greasy and porridge which was pretty stodgy. Apple juice pretty weak as well. Overall the hotel needs some upgrades as tired looking. Would I stay here again? If I couldn’t get in/nearer Stirling then possibly.

Lovely, comfy, clean quiet room with helpful staff and good food. The grounds are also lovely and well maintained. I had the vegetarian breakfast which was much more enjoyable than other hotels have stayed! I would recommend to other travellers going to Alloa.

Hotel overall is tired and urgently needs updating. The shower was cold, had no flow and at one point stopped altogether. Tried to use it at different times but to no avail. Roof light in bathroom needs a blind for night time as it lets light into the room. On the plus side couldn’t fault the food. Thought evening meal of 2 courses plus a drink was good value for money. Happy also with breakfast. Freshly cooked. Couldnt fault it. Staff friendly but felt that the younger ones needed training and direction. Seemed a lot of staff milling around but didn’t seem to be doing much.

Stayed at Dunmar House from end of April to early May, it felt like home. Maggie & Lauren were so wonderful in making our stay as comfortable as possible and giving great advice on places to visit. The food from breakfast to dinner was always so delicious & fresh.
