I had an extremely disappointing experience with Old Town Alicante, and I feel compelled to warn other travelers. Firstly, the property is listed as a hotel on booking platforms, but it is, in fact, a budget hostel. This misrepresentation is misleading and sets false expectations for guests expecting hotel-level amenities and service.
To make matters worse, I was unable to check in due to a flight delay (Flight PHHI2M from Barcelona to Alicante on June 25, 2025, delayed by 4 hours). Upon arrival after 8:00 PM, I was informed of an unadvertised 15 EUR late check-in fee, which was not mentioned anywhere in the booking conditions. This lack of transparency is unacceptable and feels like a hidden charge to exploit guests.
The overall experience was frustrating, and the misrepresentation of the property combined with the unexpected fee made it impossible to recommend Old Town Alicante. Travelers should be cautious and clarify all conditions before booking.

Alicante old town, castle, marina, beach are well worth a visit either week stay or day out from a cruise. Cosmopolitan feel. Walks along beach front & marina promenade. Ocean race museum at port. Loads bars & restaurants. Feels safe. No hassle. Good ambience.

I stayed here for a short trip in April. Rooms were just what you need, very comfortable and cost efficient. Beds super comfortable and staff went above and beyond to help me. Very close to all amenities and close to the beach. Yea and coffee making facilities on the landing and 2 bathroom and showers. Noise was kept to a minimal and I slept very well. Thank you to Maria and staff for a pleasant stay and I would not hesitate to stay here again. Mil gracias

This place looks very much like the cheap hotels you can find all over the UK. The difference is of course that there are much much better options and value for money in Spain. The place smells like mold and chemical perfumes that have to cover up this smell. The showers are cold, the floors are dirty, the pictures on review websites misleading and there is a lot of noice from the streets. You have to pay 50 euro deposit when you arrive. I am really wondering if the other reviewers - who are all so positive - stayed in the same hotel as we did.

A must for travellers to Benidorm leave the hustle and bustle of the ***** and immerse your senses in the old town search the little back alleyways where you can find everything to make your holiday more enjoyable whilst helping smaller businesses
