Residence Picalè

Located approx 30 mins walk along the beachfront promenade from Alghero Old Town. Buses unreliable, car parking free or metered in side streets but difficult, Taxi 10 euro each way. A few bars and restaurants nearby if you don't fancy the walk every night, Hotel staff very helpful & pleasant. Very clean throughout. Small pool area with great sunbeds - no problems with towels on beds in early Sept - hotel quiet. We stayed in F5 - comfort 2 bed apt. Modern throughout, 2 balconies, good air con, cleaned & towel/bed linen changed once. But no kettle, toaster, large glasses or wine glasses. Managed to get a kettle from Reception. Some noise from padel court next door but this would only affect a couple of blocks of the hotel. F & E mainly. Overall a good stay.

Excellent location. Self-catering equipment is a bit sparse, just a hob. Plenty of pans and accessories though. Small supermarket around the corner is handy. Air-Con a bit tempremental, but works once you figure it out. Bed fine, nice pillows. Upper floors require walking up flight of steps, no lift. Pool area is very nice, with two jacuzzi areas. Some noise from nearby Padel courts, but not an issue. Staff in reception were very helpful when needed. You have to sort and recycle your trash, house policy. No issues with that. remember, this is not a hotel, but accomodation for rent, so don't expect hotel style service. Overall, very good for the money.

Good location - near the beach and not far from old town (15 min walk by wonderful promenade). Very very clean. All day long you can see staff cleaning common areas. Very freandly staff. Nice and good equipped kitchen. Comfortable bed. We took a simple double room. It was on fourth floor with beautiful wiev to swimming pool and sea! Wonderful swimming pool with refreshing water. Great place to swim and sunbathing if it is windy at the beach.

we stayed here in from sept 30 to 0ct oct 6 2011 i highly recommend this place staff where excellent very clean room we had 7 c on the 4th floor had ocean view and balcony one from the kitchen and one from the bedroom we had apartment not the studio we will definately go stay here if we go back the weather was excellent not too hot the beach is just across the road and a supermarket just a few blocks away where you can buy all your food they have a super market every wed a huge one youll have to ask where it is its about 5 or 6 blocks from this apartment and they have a huge promenade along the water where you can walk into the town and take rides etc and go see the neptune caves you go on a small boat then visit the caves we had a great time buy all the cheese and seafood you want

This is not a apartment block suitable for families. First of all there is a load of stairs which makes it difficult for buggies. Secondly and importantly it is not safe there is a number of areas that have high ledges with hardly any barriers especially around the pool. Further the pool only has about 1.5 metres of a shallow end at 1.1 metres with the rest of the pool at 2.1 metres. Finally there is a number of hidden charges, such as air conditioning city tax and if you don't clean your dishes on check out you are charged 30 euro. The worst thing about my stay after all that was actually the staff. They are the most unprofessional I have seen especially on reception. I would not advice staying here.

Location: Good there’s a few coffee shops and nice restaurants nearby. You’re right opposite the beach. Pros: There is a market on Wednesday which is close by and well worth a visit! The night porter was so nice and informative when we looked for information on the market he gave us a map and marked out the route. Clean and tidy nice rooms. Cons: We were staying for a week, we arrived on Sunday and our room cleaned on Tuesday (rooms are only cleaned once we were told when we asked for new towels). Therefore, the towels were to last for 6 days, as the room was cleaned too early, it should have been halfway through week. Fair enough if you have policy we don’t have an issue, but the apartment should not have been cleaned so early! Also our towels got wet on the patio because it rained during the night so had we not gotten them on that Tuesday two days into 7days which was too early would you have left us with wet towels?? When asked for soap towards the end of the week (second last day) I was told no it was only on arrival that you got soap! There was only 2 soap, 2 hats and 2 gels yet three staying in the hotel so not enough for 3 people!! We were 3 adults and expected to use 2 tiny bar of soap for the week to was our hands. I was told “it’s a welcome package” when I said we are checking out tomorrow she told me “maybe I should go buy some” supply enough for the number of people staying! It’s not busy season this is October so surly one extra soap wouldn’t have killed them? On check in we had the same receptionist that refused us towels and soap (clearly on a power trip) and found her to be rude, unfriendly and unhelpful during both encounters! She was on her phone showing her colleagues videos and I was left standing waiting! Bins not changed and no bags available for a week, if they want people to recycle as per the sheet they should provide bin bags for the food waste bin.
