Came for a meal with my partner and son last week, staff were fantastic, very pleasant and helpful and the food was amazing, best meal we have had out in a long time. The chicken florentine was so tasty and the desert was amazing, highly recommended to friends and family

Stayed two nights for a family Christmas nearby. Staff in pub attentive, friendly nothing too much trouble. Accommodation in a modern cottage opposite pub was superb, including little kitchenette and nice bedroom and sofa bed for teenager. Great experience. We will be back. They were especially understanding as I needed to cancel Christmas Eve booking as I was poorly and they let me add the day to Boxing Day night instead. Some places would have been less understanding. x

Fantastic Meal at The Bear Inn. Attentive staff, great food and open fires on a misty evening in November, perfect. We had Walter the Dachshund with us and he was made welcome so all good. I selected from the specials and was not disappointed, better half from the standard menu with a few dietary requirements that the staff were happy to accommodate.

Little gem in the countryside Quaint pub family run with great hospitality Stayed for 1 night on our way home to Norwich Steak night, steaks where cooked to perfection proper chips as well Beer great selection and kept well. Lovely room mattress could do with a topper on it just my preference Could do with better entrance sign from the car park as we naturally walked round the front but it was at the back Keep up the good work we will be back nice to feel welcome xx

Firstly, this is no longer a carvery. Not worth the money, £19 for roast lamb Sunday lunch and received 3 pieces of small, wafer thin pieces of lamb. The staff were not interested in how we felt about it so we sent it them back. You’d have thought the profit made on these lunches, that they would invest some into maintaining the building like the ladies toilets that were moulding and peeling. This used to be a lovely little gem bit not now. Maybe under new owners perhaps.

Me and my husband stayed for two nights at the weekend and can honestly say it was lovely. Room was charming and the bathroom was quirky. Clean and comfortable. Food was great and good value. Staff friendly and Chris the manager was very helpful. We got served the first night by a lovely lady and nothing was too much trouble. Open fire is just perfect. Breakfast was amazing freshly cooked with fresh good quality produce. The breakfast staff are so friendly. I won’t mention poached eggs as I know how much they love them. We will stay again in the future

We went for a meal last night with friends. What a lovely old quaint pub. The food was superb at a reasonable price with very attentive staff to help the evening go well. Myself and friend had the steak and ale pie which was super and the ladies had chicken and sea bass all were lovely, followed by syrup pudding and jam pudding and custard. What a great evening thank you

This is now a family run pub/inn. We had a comfortable stay but I must mention the food - it's wonderful - both my wife and I loved it - the head chef is one of the family and we would strongly recommend it. It's in the village of Alderwasley in England's Peak District and the National Tramway Museum at Crich is a ten minute drive away.

We pulled up in the car park to see a couple of the chefs smoking outside !! not a good start we had to walk past them to get into the pub and the thought of those preparing my dinner put me right off to start with !! the food itself was good though we both had the beef and we have no complaints at all but we didnt like the place much we cant put our finger on why but you sometimes get a feeling not to return to some places ! if I had any advice for the owners it would be to tell the smokers to take their fags right away from the entrance ! hopefully it gets banned soon in pub gardens 👍👍
