Hotel Eurostars Fuerte de la Concepcion

This is a fortress in the border between Portugal and Spain, built in the 16th century. It was a strategic defensive settlement during the War of Independence from France. Nowadays, there is a hotel in this historical site. I really live the place, and the history behind.

(Español abajo) It’s a beautiful historic military fort in ruin that has been transformed into a hotel. It’s unique and stunning. Located on the literal border of Spain with Portugal. Now, the management and the treatment of guests is another thing and the reason for the title put on here. We made a complaint to Booking that we did not receive the room that we had booked (we booked with a matrimonial bed and received a room with two small beds. See photos.) and the morning after as we were about to check out we were met by the manager Maria at the reception who met us in a very confrontational manner because we had complained to Booking. She was rude and hostile to the point that we had to make a report with the tourism authority. The wifi does not work in the rooms and because of the fort’s think walls and fortifications you cannot get a cellphone signal. Probably the worst and most uncomfortable experience I had in these many years of traveling the world. Definitely not worthy of the Eurostars brand. Pero, la gestión y el tratamiento de clientes es otra historia, la que se merece el título puesto de una de las peores experiencias. Hicimos una queja a Booking que no recibimos la habitación que habíamos reservado (reservamos una suite con una cama matrimonial y recibimos una con dos camas pequeñas. Ver fotos.) Y a la mañana siguiente, cuando estábamos a punto de hacer el check out, nos recibió la encargada María en la recepción, de una manera muy conflictiva porque nos habíamos quejado a Booking. Ella fue mal educada y hostil hasta el punto de que tuvimos que pedir una hoja de reclamación para hacer una queja oficial por su actitud. El wifi no funciona en las habitaciones y, debido a las murallas y fortificaciones del fuerte, no se puede obtener señal de teléfono celular. Probablemente la peor y más incómoda experiencia que tuve en todos los años de viajar por el mundo. Definitivamente no digno de la marca Eurostars.
