Apartamentos Siesta I

Pro's - Free safe, horse riding 100m away, quad tours directly under the apartments. Con's - the pool area and at times in our apartment smelled so bad of sewage. Cleaners aren't in every day like other apartments. Being self-catering, I expected to have a brush to be able to sweep the floors after a day at the beach. Instead, we had to wait until cleaners were in to sweep floors for us. We were put on the second floor directly facing the stairs and lifts. It is not ideal when travelling with a child and being awakened through the night with folk coming back drunk and noisy. The restaurant under the hotel is okay but was nothing to shout about, however the staff were really friendly. 10th time on the island, but first time staying on the North of the island, but being so close to the mountains, it's quite windy, even when the sun is splitting the sky.

On holiday with my wife , we spent 7 nights at the Siesta 1. When we arrived,just after 11pm, the receptionist was very efficient and checked us in quickly. Our room was clean and tidy as to be expected. It was a studio , so it was compact, but we knew what we booked the clue was in the description "Studio" The room was basic but clean and had all the necessary equipment and utensils required. Kettle,toaster ,microwave, etc. If I was being picky, I'd suggest adding some way of making fresh coffee . A French Press could be added cheaply enough , anyway, that is just a suggestion and did not impact my holiday. And the mattresses give no support. As I have said before, the hotel and grounds were very clean, although my room could have benefited from some redecoration, but again nothing major. All the staff we had any contact with, especially the cleaners were pleasant and polite and very helpful with the exception of the bat man on the Red Lion bar, who I found surly at best If it was only once I would have put it down to a bad day but two nights running is a pattern, anyway it did not impact on us as the bar was lifeless with no atmosphere so we only had one drink both times and left. My overall impression is Siesta 1 is a honest budget level destination you get a tidy well kept room with really just about all you can ask for for the price. Rooms cleaned 5 days out of 7 and fresh towels when required. If you want accommodation and you don't expect 5star luxury you won't be disappointed. We were very happy with our stay here and we had a great holiday.
