Exemplary from beginning to end. We have just had a week at this glorious hotel, that we had great expectations of having read reviews, but which well and truly exceeded. There were 10 of us staying at the hotel, across 4 rooms. The rooms were marvellous, tasteful and with the all important air conditioning. Gorgeous products provided it the bathrooms too. The hotel setting, pool and common areas are sublime. Absolute serenity, places of shade, and a perfect pool to actually swim a few lengths. In smaller hotels that seems to be a rarity. The hosts are lovely people, kind, warm and provide great insight and local information. The staff are incredible, with amazing memories for any orders or special requirements. Faultless throughout. And the piece de resistance, the USP above all else has to be the food. Just wow. The menu changes daily, with creativity and flair. We had some specific requirements including my own vegetarian peculiarity of no mushroom or aubergine, and that was accommodated perfectly. We know we have to return to this perfect hotel. Thank you to all who make it so.

Lovely, authentic and relaxed vibe throughout our stay. The rooms are full of character, with timbered ceilings, antique floors, and individually styled décor, while still offering full comfort and modern amenities. Hosts Silvia and Eilko made us feel genuinely at home and were always attentive and thoughtful. We truly did not want to leave. The peaceful pool courtyard and quiet corners around the property were perfect for unwinding between trips into Granada and the Alhambra, which is just minutes away. It was easy to find using SatNav (Apple Maps), which guided us directly to the front door via the last mile of track from the motorway roundabout.

This is our sixth stay at Cortijo del Marquez, one of our favourite places on earth. Every holiday - from our romantic ones, including our perfect honeymoon, to this one bringing our grown up children and father, have each been absolute heaven. Silvia and Elko are so warm, helpful and kind, and have thought of everything to make the hotel perfectly comfortable and utterly beautiful. We have now stayed in spring, summer and autumn and each have their own charm. We love the amazing chef prepared four course dinners and incredible wine list. The pool is stunning, the gardens beautiful. In spring swallows nest in the rafters and you hear nightingales, and see hoopoes, linnets and larks calling from the fields and olive groves and even can see eagles soaring high in the sky. There is a wonderful circular walk, that its hard to drag ourselves out of the hotel, but Granada is only half an hour away, and has much to offer. The beach is also a terrific day trip about an hour away, but lunch on the beach is worth the trip. I could go on and on. We feel so lucky to have this special place to come to, and having just left, are looking forward to our next trip already!

Silvia and Elko are amazing hosts and get everything right here. I have been for several years now and each time it has always been an excellent stay. The staff are lovely, exceptional food and the location is spectacular. This is a gem. If only all hotels were like this.

I am not someone who travels a lot but the Cortijo del Marqués is a place I keep coming back to. Granada is only a short trip and worth a repeat visit. After a day spending time in busy tapas bars, experiencing the buzz of the Albaicín and enjoying the view of the Alhambra it feels great to retreat to the peace and quiet of the Cortijo in the evening and enjoy a delicious dinner in the cosy restaurant. The hotel owners, Silvia and Eilko, always have good suggestions for an excursion, whether you are into culture or outdoor activities. This time I went mountain biking in the Sierra Nevada with a guide, which was a great adventure. Staying a day at the hotel, reading in the shade of a tree in the court yard or going for a stroll through the surrounding olive groves is also a great pastime and a perfect way to relax and wind down. I am already looking forward to my next stay…

This hotel is a hidden gem. From the scenery, to the decor, to the staff, and to the food it was a superb experience all around. We were there for two nights and enjoyed the easily accessible city of Granada but spent some quality time by the pool, walking the grounds of the property, and at the on-site restaurant. The food was extraordinarily tasty and the dining experience was 10/10. This was our first stop on our 10 day trip in Spain. We are halfway through and we still can’t stop talking about our stay here. We will be back and we will be telling our friends and family to visit!

Picturesque, relaxing, and utterly enjoyable. The property is beautiful and historic- our room had a lovely terrace overlooking the olive groves and claw footed tub. Do not miss booking in for dinner and expert wine parings. Tapas in the afternoon were also magnificent! All staff were amazing and helpful. Very convenient to Granada and we chose to make a two night stop on the way to Cordoba. So happy we did. Great to relax next to a crystal blue pool for a few days without throngs of people. Hiking on site or simply relaxing with beautiful views on a unique and beautiful property.

Pinch me! Feels like we were in a dream. Tucked far away from the main road this is an oasis. So glad we surreptitiously found this hotel online. The pictures don't do it justice. We spent one night here and loved every minute of it. We initially did not plan on having dinner here (it's extra, about 35 euros per person) but last minute changed our mind and they were able to accommodate us. Its a four course menu, portions are very small, but by the end of it we were stuffed. There is an outdoor area where you can relax, eat/drink, read a book etc. The swimming pool is in a quiet corner with a great view of the plains! Drinks available poolside. Some of the best tinto de verano I had! We would definitely come back and recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet reprieve. My only pet peeve is that there is a slight up charge on everything - a typical tinto de verano in town might be 1.5-2 euros, here it's about 4-5 euros. Same with the tapas etc.
