Charming Trulli

This is a really interesting place to stay- not your typical hotel but a group of renovated Trullis clustered around the reception area. Facilities vary (some have kitchenettes) but ours was very comfortable although lighting could be improved. Breakfast is provided at a restaurant near reception. This was a bit limited but adequate. I'm not sure if this was just for our group or for everyone but in any case you could self cater in some of the Trullis. Staff were very helpful guiding us to our respective Trullis and taking our suitcases. I would recommend staying there unless you are locked in to the idea of a standard tourist hotel

We stayed one week on an organised tour organised by Travel Editions in the UK. There were 20 of us based in Alberobello with accommodation booked through this organisation. We were allocated the Trullo called Mimosa which was quite a way from the meeting area at reception. It was in a quiet cul de sac. Very well equipped with a small kitchen area, hob, fridge, kettle, coffee machine. Shower room was spacious. Although quite dark inside as all Trullo are, there were a couple of windows for fresh air. There were two curtained alcoves both with large beds, the largest of which was the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE BED IN THE WORLD.

If you go to Alberobello it's to see the Trulli and seemed natural to stay in one. Like many other options these are seperate dwellings with a check in office and separate breakfast restaurant. Thought the pre arrival emails were spot on, in that you can't park at office or Trullo and because there is no central occupied reception they like to have an idea when people arrive. Check in lady was super helpful and friendly. Very comfortable and unique property in a much quiter part if town, really peaceful overnight, other than the bloody church bells 😀 Good value and a one off experience.

Very charming place to stay,had a small kitchen a bathroom and of course all contained in the wonderful little building. It was quiet and couldn’t ask for a better place to stay. Breakfast was served in a seperate building and you picked what you wanted from the continental breakfast .

Nice small development of Trulli in a quiet part of town outside the historical centre (thankfully.) Got free parking easily just a few mins walk away as per the instructions given. Pleasant inside…small sitting room and ‘kitchen ‘ area though it would have been useful to have actual cooking facilities or even some basic cutlery! Not even a bottle opener! A bit annoying not to have all these things. Although there was a kettle, there weren’t even any spoons for stirring.Everything was in these little paper throwaway pouches, so little sticks only for stirring. It was cold inside too given the cave nature of the house and it would have been nice if the heating had been put in for us arriving(which we told them in advance was 4.30pm, plenty notice.) I got the impression everything was designed to be as little work for staff, rather than comfortable for guests. The roof terrace was pleasant but not really somewhere that offered attractive views. We visited the historic centre later that afternoon and it has been destroyed by tourism.Every house is full of tourist tat, reducing the overall experience.Lovely views over the roof tops however from the newer part of town.There is a more authentic area of Trulli which are still lived in so that’s worth strolling around. A small Todi supermarket is located about a 10 min walk from the accommodation. Far too many emails from staff pre visit; it got annoying.Pre filling out passport info etc, pushing us about arrival time on at least two occasions; advising several times of extra cost if you arrive after 7pm.Annoying when you are exploring elsewhere and staff clearly want to head off asap and take as little to do with you time wise on arrival.That was my feeling anyway.
