BG4 Guesthouse

This guesthouse is located within walking distance of the downtown area which was nice. The room itself was spacious, however, we found many inconveniences. The steps from the parking area to the upstairs levels were steep and short which was very difficult with suitcases. In the room itself the lightbulb in the side table lamp was missing, the bed frame fell apart and there were holes in the bedsheets. In the bathroom, the sink was very shallow and the water pressure was very high so it was impossible to wash your hands without getting sprayed by the water. Not to mention, the towels were quite small. We did not spend too much time in the guesthouse since we were out exploring Akureyri, and were happy that it was in a convenient location.

This accommodation is misrepresented in both description and certainly by photos posted! Our room, “romantic double” was smelly, the toilet ran ALL night and the cistern leaked all over the floor, the bathroom sink was backed up so that you had to wait 5 or 6 minutes for the smallest amount of water to empty! Getting access to the property was not as described nor was there anyone on site at all. There is NO reception desk as shown in these photos! The grounds were not well kept at all. The entire place looks run down. Do NOT attempt to use the spiral staircase to the downstairs rooms! They should be boarded up for safety reasons as totally too narrow to walk down safely! I honestly can’t say anything nice as we requested someone to come and sort out the bathroom issues and got zero response. We did try to muffle the running toilet sound with towels but that was unsuccessful. Please choose elsewhere. If I could rate this property, it would be a minus.
