Excelente lugar para descansar, desconectar y estar en contacto con la naturaleza. El hotel se encuentra en una zona apartada, y las habitaciones son suites perfectamente equipadas con todo lo necesario. Por ello, si no se dispone de coche, hay que llegar con todas las provisiones, pues no hay dónde comprar cerca. El AC solo está en las habitaciones. La playa está directamente afuera del edificio y es un auténtico paraíso. Las instalaciones son modestas pero suficientemente equipadas. Dispones de kayaks y material deportivo. El dueño es super amable y siempre a disposición para lo que se necesite. Hay un bar/restaurante justo a un lado (sólo acepta efectivo).

Just returned from our 3rd stay @ Hotel Akumal Caribe ~ had a wonderful time. Loved our ground floor (deluxe kitchenette) room (406) just steps away from the pool & beach. Nothing better than waking up to the birds singing & enjoying a cup of coffee on our patio. You know your day is going to be a good one, when Juan (goundskeeper) greets you with a ”Hola, Buenos Dias” as he starts his day. But, then ALL the people employed @ this property are super friendly & make you feel like family each & everyday. Our room was cleaned by a very nice gentleman (forgot to get his name) always with a smile & a ”hope you are having a nice visit.” We had all our meals down by the Lolha ~ excellent food/drinks/service!! Big ups to Oscar, Willy, Rafael, Alberto, Jordy & the rest of the crew. Again, always service with a smile. Hotel Akumal Caribe & The Lolha are a perfect example of how a property/restaurant should be run & I'm sure other properties could learn a valuable lesson from them. Excellent quality and service The food is also excellent

For the most part we had a fabulous stay. The hotel and all facilities are extremely clean, there were people constantly cleaning around the proerty. The gym was very well equipped. My husband and I had massages, I got a special package that included a 50 min massage, 25 min facial, and 25 minute body scub, it was amazing! The lobby entertainment was really good. Our favorite spot was the sports bar, the AC was cranking. The specialty restaurants were good, we ate a Portofino twice, the gnocchi was delish. The Brazilian steakhouse was way too salty for my taste. The all inclusive food is just that, it's ok. What we didn't really care for was the clientele, most of the people here at this time were South/Central American/Latin, and they were extremely rude. The resort seems to alighn more with that culture, and that's fine, I get it, we're in Mexico, but not everyone spoke English, so there were some language barriers, played a lot of charades to get our point across, and that's fine, but hald the time I had no idea what I was eating because nothing was posted in English at the buffet. Maybe it was the time of year we went, not sure, this is the only reason I would not go back.

Let's start by saying a vacation is what you make it. If you've travelled to other resorts before, you will know that there are certain issues that may come up; difficulty reserving restaurants; towel supply; COVID restrictions, etc. If you go into a vacation with realistic expectations, you will not be disappointed. That being said, this was our 3rd time at the Colonial. We just returned from a fantastic week (April 25 - May 2). The food was wonderful (I didn't have to cook!), the ocean was crystal clear & warm (despite the sea****), the rooms were clean and the grounds were breathtaking. The resort is large, so be prepared to walk through their incredible gardens and walkways. I can not say enough about the beautiful grounds! Never had an issue getting chairs at the beach or pool. You may not find your ideal spot, but there were always some available. And, there will always be ”those people” who reserve spots and don't show up for the entire day. Every resort has them. We did have a hick up with our room smelling of mildew, but we asked to change and our needs were met immediately. Within an hour we were transferred to another room. Most of the staff were incredibly warm and friendly. Those are the ones we tipped well. All in all, we had a wonderful time and a great experience!

Not to see that there is no road to the hotel - the hotel itself and the beach with a bomb! It was very impressive that turtles come to shore to nest and you can get onto small turtles from the morning - very nice! The food in the facility is also cool! A very quiet rest for those who want to take a rest in a hotel near the beach and not to go to town, all is there. Nobody gets tired, nobody asks every two seconds of tea and no noisy show of programs, although this can be done to a minus, because sometimes there is little fun, but it was a lot of fun! From minus, there is not enough shopper to buy some ordinary things, especially women's hygiene, or elementary patches, sun protection creams.
