This was a very welcome rustic break in a busy Rajasthan tour and well worth a visit if travelling between Jaipur and Jodhpur. The 17th century fort is a beautifully preserved piece of Rajasthani history and the surrounding village is a wonderful example of rural India. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the food is good, and the service is excellent. The small pool is a very welcome respite from the heat of the day. We enjoyed a bullock cart ride around the area, organised by staff, to get a taste of village life and meet some super welcoming and friendly locals.

Hotel in a historic fortress of a Royal family. Fantastic stay. The owner and his wife are very friendly and mingle with the guests. They buy everything locally and all the staff comes from the village. The owner also invests in the development of the village and education of the young people. The food served is excellent.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband, brother and sister-in-law in November after seeing it reviewed in a magazine. It is a little off the beaten track but worth going the extra mile to stay here. To say it is an unique experience is an understatement. From the warmest reception on arrival to the amazing trip through the village via a bullock cart this was an unforgettable experience. Our guide from the hotel was exeptional. Definitely book this trip. The hotel has some quirks, due to it being a fort (turn the water on half an hour before use for a shower) but this is what makes it so different to your usual holiday hotel. The owners are a delightful young couple who are always walking around the hotel ready to answer any questions about the hotel, and as we had a guided tour of the fort there was lots to see and ask. Please if you are thinking of booking a stay here. YOU MUST It will be one of my lasting memories of travelling through India.

Lovely setting and beautiful hotel rooms - all have air conditioning and fans and comfortable beds. The standard of hotel really is like being a royal! Everything is top quality and the decorations around the hotel are beautiful. Staff are attentive and helpful, and always greet you in the morning with a smile on their face. The are extremely knowledgeable about the hotel and the surrounding area, happy to chat with you. In particular. All the staff here should be congratulated, but especially; Ranjeet was an excellent chef and all his food was top quality and delicious - thank you! I would 100% recommend the cookery classes on offer here. Kesar was very helpful and friendly. Additionally, Chunilal was a fantastic tour guide on the bullock cart ride (extremely recommended) and was super friendly, helpful, and offered to take photos of us and have a very interesting tour around the fort. Everyone we have met here puts full effort into everything they do. Also, the owners of the place were super friendly and happy. Overall we had an amazing time so thank you to everyone who made the happen! Key points: - Staff are all enthusiastic and helpful - They own a lovely pool facility - Food is delicious and caters for vegetarians too - Bullock cart ride and cookery classes are a must! - Rural setting but beautiful fort

Staying at Fort Barli was one of the absolute highlights of our time in India. The fort itself is beautiful - full of character and history - and set in the middle of a peaceful, authentic village. The rooms were huge and comfortable, and everything about the place just felt relaxed and welcoming. The owners and staff were so kind and hospitable - we really felt at home. What made it truly memorable though was the chance to experience real village life. We were invited into the local school to watch morning assembly, and later took a bullock cart ride through the entire village. It was such a unique way to see how people live and go about their day - we loved chatting with locals ***** the way. If you’re looking for something a bit off the beaten track, away from the crowds, and full of charm, we’d absolutely recommend staying here. It was peaceful, authentic, and just a really special experience we’ll never forget.

Have you ever wanted to stay in an Indian fort? This is the hotel for you. It is a little out of the way but worth the drive. The fort has been beautifully turned into a boutique hotel with 8 bedrooms. The set menu is tremendous am Indian menu in one hit. The meal was just as I hoped traditional menu without the burning sensation. I tasted and enjoyed everyone of the numerous dishes. The room we had were the queen's quarters. A courtyard a bedroom a bathroom and a living room. A palace inside a fort.

Hotel Fort Barli is an extraordinary luxury hotel in the Ajmar district of Rajasthan, India. It is situated in an ultra rural area where one is most certainly “far from the madding crowd”. The term “Fort” is a most apt description - the building has been in the family for 16 generations and has been recently refurbished & modernised, whilst retaining all of the features & charm of the original building. The owner (& wife) are charming & warmly greet new guests; the staff are courteous and efficient; the rooms are exquisite; the food is excellent & the hotel offers all manner of activities - including spa treatment, as well as a small infinity pool.

We stayed 2 nights on our way from Jaipur to Udaipur. The building is fascinating dating back to 1675. It has been beautifully renovated and we were treated to a fort tour where we heard about its history . The fort has a small swimming pool ( a little chilly but good for cooling off) The staff and owner were lovely and could not have been more helpful. We enjoyed the breakfasts and dinners. It was good to wander into the village and see something of rural India. The people were very friendly. The staff are from the village. We also had an ox cart tour around the village. Our room was very comfortable with several areas and the fort has several courtyards to relax in. There is a very friendly French bulldog who takes her meeting and greeting duties very seriously.!Would definitely recommend as a place to relax between cities.
