The hotel is situated right next to a breathtaking waterfall, offering a truly scenic retreat. The staff is attentive and helpful, though their English proficiency may vary. Both breakfast and dinner showcase the culinary delights of Japanese cuisine, and the onsen experience is simply phenomenal. For an even more luxurious stay, opt for a room with a private onsen, or consider upgrading to a higher-priced room that includes a complimentary one-hour private onsen session.

The price/performance ratio of hot spring hotels is the highest at present. Free shuttle bus pick-up, free yukatas of dozens of colors for girls, breakfast and dinner included, dinner is local specialty cuisine (set meal), free freshly ground coffee, free matcha, free barley tea, free ice cream, free beer, free light show, beautiful scenery, usually soaking in the hot spring while enjoying the gurgling water in the mountains, suddenly feel that life is worth it

It is a very intended accommodation for this trip. Study and look at reviews carefully. and reserve a large room In order to have the most access to Japanese culture. But disappointed with the view. But don't blame the hotel. It's the weather. and check-out day Notice that the hotel has a shuttle at the train station. But when we went in to ask Instead it said you didn't reserve it. You must make a reservation at check-in. We ourselves don't know. The front desk staff didn't inform us. So can we ask the staff to make a reservation for us? The staff tried to solve the problem for us. But it seems like the uncle of the driver is dissatisfied, drives very badly and gives us very poor service.

Traditional Japanese-style hot spring hotel, one night and two meals, no merits, more guests, the disadvantage is that the parking lot is far away and the hot water in the bathroom in the room cannot be supplied...

This recently and very tastefully renovated onsen was delightful. With an excellent location in a valley on the fringe of Aizuwakamatsu, but only a short bus or taxi ride away from the centre of town (a regular bus service stops right outside the ryokan) we enjoyed the view of a rapidly flowing stream with beautiful waterfalls and bamboo groves from our room, the lounge, banquet hall and baths. Our room was very spacious, comfortable and nicely furnished, with a small wooden bath, and in excellent condition. Our meals, served in the cavernous and rather characterless "banquet hall" (surprising as the rest of the ryokan. was so tastefully decorated), were excellent, generously sized and delicious. Both the indoor and outdoor baths were superb - large, well appointed, spotlessly clean, atmospheric and well maintained - and all of the staff were very kind and pleasant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely onsen and thought it offered excellent value for money. Our only issue was that the banquet hall seemed to be understaffed, as service was quite slow.

Shosuke no Yado is a beautiful onsen hotel, located a bit outside Aizuwakamatsu city. It's attached to a river and waterfall. Japanese room is quite large and next to the river. There is tea set and sweet provided in every room. There is public onsen on the first floor which can enjoy waterfall during onsen and also private onsen with charge on the first floor and rooftop. The hotel provide free rental colorful Yukata for all women guest. Dinner set is lovely. There are a lot of food, fresh and delicious. Breakfast is also great. A mochi is the best. Hotel staff are nice and helpful.

We visited Aizuwakamatsu at the national holiday weekend so there were limited options to us in this famous onsen town, Hagishiyama. We wanted a more modern hotel, and while the shots of the room look good on their website, the reality is that it is much smaller than I had expected. Though the room looked new, the bathroom was a disappointment, small and shabby. With two large beds in the room, that leaves little space for moving around. And they try hard to squeeze all essential items of an onsen hotel room into the smallest space possible, including placing the vanity unit in the living room opposite the sleeping platform, sharing space with a kettle and drinking water glasses. There is a shoe stand and a folding screen in-between the toilet and bathroom, which is hugely strange and inconvenient. Ours is a 12-tatami room, which I expect would be good for 3 people, but the reality is that it is so cramped that one would not want to spend much time in the room. Perhaps that’s the reason why the hotel provided a lot of public sitting areas. Yes, for guests to admire the magnificent view of the mountain stream, but also to stay out of the uncomfortable room. The room was a huge disappointment but there are some nice sides of the hotel. Dinner was really good; we had window seats facing the waterfall and the Aizu beef was very delicious. The public onsets, especially the outdoor ones, are nice, situated just next to the mountain stream. All in all, for the US680 I paid for three, it was not good value for money.

This is a top-class ryokan at Higashiyama Onsen in terms of facilities such as private baths, beer after bathing, views from the windows, and sake tasting. However, the inn was disappointing in terms of staff and other aspects. Also, I was informed that breakfast would be a Japanese meal, so even though I had made a reservation, it was actually partially buffet style. It's the same as what other inns offer as a half buffet, so when I pointed it out, they said it wasn't a buffet because it wasn't an all-you-can-eat option. The issue wasn't whether it was all-you-can-eat or not, but whether it was self-service or not, but I can't believe you answered without checking thoroughly. This was a disappointing response that did not show an attitude of sincerely listening to what the customer had to say.

The special room space Matsushimakaku in Takinoyu is reasonably priced. It is a suite with a Japanese-style room and bedroom, with a balcony terrace, a riverside area, an open-air terrace bath, and a separate shower booth. I think the location is great. The food and service are not sophisticated like in the city. However, I think it's also good to enjoy the countryside. In the summer, you can see fireflies on the river and hear the singing of Japanese frogs. Improvements have been made within the building, such as multiple private baths, a foot bath with a view, and a sake corner. Although it was criticized during the COVID-19 period, it is my favorite inn that is doing its best again.

Higashiyama Onsen is located near the center of Aizuwakamatsu, and there are posts on YouTube saying it is deserted. It is built along a narrow road between the mountains and the river, so the parking lot is far away. The parking attendant is cheerful, energetic, and friendly. There is a bath by Ohara Shosuke. It is in the same building as the detached Matsushimakaku. It is in the same building as the high-class detached Matsushimakaku with an open-air bath in the room. There is also a Matsushimakaku at the edge of the Takinoyu for general guests, so people staying at the high-class inn pass in front of the general guest rooms. I wonder what that means. Even though you are paying a high price to stay, you are passing through the well-maintained, but old hot spring inn area. There are many private open-air baths, and the plan included a private open-air bath, so I used it. It is in front of the waterfall, and it is lit up, and the waterfall is small. There is a lot of water, but it doesn't feel like a big waterfall. There is no washing area, so you have to go to your room or the large bath first. This large bath feels like it's been a long time since I've had a good bath. I had my meal at the restaurant. We sat side by side facing the large window overlooking the waterfall. Matsushimakaku guests were given private rooms, and Taki no Yu was like a dining room, but there was space between us so we could eat leisurely. It was local cuisine, and they served a small pot and a double stove with a hot plate. Although double stoves are common these days, one is better for a leisurely meal. It was a gorgeous dish that would please foreigners. Perhaps due to a shortage of staff or because it was a weekday, the cheerful mother was running the place by herself. Her gentle dialect was comforting. If they had spoken standard Japanese, I think everyone would have been annoyed. In the morning, the large venue was packed. Freshly pounded rice cakes were served halfway through, and I wondered what they were lining up for, but it was a line for rice cakes. The mother rolled them up and topped them with red beans, kinako, and other things. It was my first time eating zunda rice cakes. They were delicious. The rice cakes alone were delicious enough. I was comforted by the hot springs, the words, and the rice cakes. As you would expect from a popular inn, they are powerful. They are lively.

Higashiyama Onsen is located just outside of Aizuwakamatsu city. Recently, there have been videos saying that it is deserted, but all hot spring resorts are now deserted. Takinoyu has Obara Shosuke's bath and many private open-air baths. The private open-air baths do not have a washing area, which is a bit disappointing. It is shared with a high-class inn called Hane Matsushimakaku. For those staying at the expensive Matsushimakaku, it is a bit old. The building seems to be well-maintained, but it is undeniable that it is old. The dining area is like a restaurant, with private rooms for those staying at Matsushimakaku and window seats and table seats for those staying at Takinoyu. A cheerful mother runs the place by herself. She makes up for the lack of staff with her cheerfulness and gentle dialect. A small pot and a ceramic plate double stove, which is common in hot spring inns these days, but one stove is enough to enjoy a leisurely meal. The food was local cuisine, but it looked gorgeous and I enjoyed the meal. I had a plan with a private open-air bath, but the large public bath was nice. It felt like it had been a while since I had last enjoyed a nice hot spring. The parking attendant was cheerful and lively. It was a lively inn.
