Maison des Croisades

I spent the weekend at Hotel des Croisades and found the rooms to be clean and the welcome warm. Rooms are basic but a decent size with tv, aircon and free wifi so provided everything needed for a short stay. I didn't have the best sleep whilst I was there as the walls to the room were very thin and I was woken up several times by the guests next door. There is also a cockeral nearby that likes crowing at sunrise, so if you are a light sleeper I would recommend ear plugs. I didn't have breakfast at the hotel but the garden area where it was served seemed nice. I decided to walk into a cafe in town which offered cheaper breakfast with better views. Everyone I met at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. Best of all is the location which is so convenient and offers everything close at hand, the walled town, boats into the camargue, boats to le grau du roi. Aigues Mortes is a fantastic town and this hotel offers a reasonably priced option for visiting it. Had it not been for the noisy neighbours the rating would have been higher!

After driving round inside the walled town (BIG mistake) we managed to find our way back to the Croisades where we booked in for 2 nights. Charming owners, couldn't have been more helpful & pleasant: "Need to park? No problem - just park behind our own cars on the wide pavement next to the hotel." Room was basic but well thought out, wall mounted small TV on which we watched the World Cup. Refurbished bathroom, small but spotless. One of the few places we stayed which had a dressing table area with good lighting, a convenient plug, mirror and hairdresser. Excellent breakfast and pleasant breakfast room/conservatory to eat in. Hotel is 5 mins from the walled town so great location.

We received a lovely welcome by the owner, along with drinks, but unfortunately, for us, the hotel was only opened up at 4:00 when we arrived walking from Vauvert at 3:00 and looking for a place to rest up. At least the anteroom was open so we had a seat. The room was very small with very little room for our suitcases and during the night the room was quite noisy from some late night guests in the hallway which was not appreciated. There was no street noise. The hotel is very close to the old town walls, just across the canal.

Visiting family came to the town meant we had to stay nearby. The hotel provided a cool retreat within walking distance of the family. Very nice and tidy, although the main corridor was z little noisy when trying to sleep. Neighbouring rooms did have loud televisions

Great hotel in a fantastic location. Friendly and welcoming staff. Very clean well appointed room with everything a visitor needs for a short stay. Brilliant view from room over canal and city ramparts. Very good choice of fresh food for breakfast. Hotel provided a parking pass that could be used across the town. Would highly recommend.
