Le Mas des Sables

We stayed here for several nights as part of a big charity group and then stayed on with family afterwards. It was fine for the initial few days as we had very specific requirements in terms of the large number of rooms we needed and the ability to provide dinner in the evening and breakfast before departure the following day. We also had family staying during this period and the attitude of the staff on the front desk was less than helpful. More ‘can’t do’ than ‘can do’ and everything was a problem other than buying drinks from the bar. There was NIL food options available other than breakfast and dinner and the dinner options were limited to one choice only for children. There was no attempt whatsoever to be helpful or try and accommodate some very young children. This was resolved by a large financial upgrade to self-catering so that the family could feed the children. The 3 bed - 3 bath apartment was actually great in terms of space and facilities but there was something seriously wrong with the plumbing in one of the bathrooms and the smell was putrid. I would say that this was great as a bed and breakfast place, swimming pool was amazing and the setting beautiful, but think twice if you have young children and you definitely need a car!

Please note that you can only check in to this hotel after 16.00 and they are very strict about this! However, the grounds are lovely and there is a large swimming pool with plenty of loungers, as in the picture. Our superior room was not huge, but was comfortable and clean, and had a small patio. The hotel is conveniently situated near to the Camargue National Park, but is really quite hard to find. The restaurant has a small choice, and service is good. Breakfast is a large choice and you can eat outside. One of the receptionists was exceptionally helpful and friendly - ask for Severine. Another one was not so good. Overall a good experience for a couple of nights.
