Villars Lodge

I was a chaperone with a large group of students who stayed at the Villars Lodge. Sebastien and Reyna and all of the staff were absolutely awesome, they made our stay one we will not soon forget. While we were there the food at breakfast and dinner was superb. We also enjoyed the bar staff in the evening.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the hotel in terms of both hard and soft product. The hotel and its surroundings are very well kept and everyone in the hotel is extremely helpful. The lobby, spa, pool and rooms are all very well thought of and beautifully decorated. Unlike the rest of the Europe they don’t seem to be short on staff and every request is handled quickly and with care. The only thing I would want to see in the future is some changes to their rooms. As many families with small children visit this hotel they absolutely need to put minibars in their rooms. No one wants to go the bar they have on every floor or call for room service for a glass of milk or some baby food in the middle of the night. Also our room did not have a physical door for the shower room, I do not know about you but I don’t like my little children running in and out as I am trying to have a shower. Also no locks on their toilet door which was a seperate area. These minor things however do not take anything away from the 5 stars this property deserves.
Viu Hotel Villars

Quality of this hotel well exceeded our expectation. The room is very spacious with good amenities and beautiful views from the balcony. Food served at the breakfast is great and we enjoyed dining at the outdoor terrace with fresh air and fantastic view. The hotel is located in the center of the village with restaurants and shops within a short walk. We also enjoyed the jacuzzi a lot and it is as big as a small indoor swimming pool. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We had the chance to meet and talk to the new owner who has made lots of efforts to make it an upscale property while still charge very reasonable rates. We are lucky to have chosen this hotel for our short stay in the village during this summer and will definitely stay here again for a ski holiday next time.

An exceptional experience. Very warm and friendly manager - she made us feel very comfortable, and had great humour. High quality room and very clean. Would be rated 4 star, not 3. Very happy and will return again next time. Highly recommend for value for money.
Chalet RoyAlp Hotel and Spa

This has the potential to be a wonderful hotel. It is set in a great location, with mountain views that are well worth paying extra for. The property is spacious, offering numerous seating options by cosy open fires and boasts a fabulous pool room with an open fire, sauna, and steam room. The jacuzzi is lovely and relaxing outside of peak times (4 pm–7 pm), when it tends to be taken over by children. The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the town centre, but a convenient driver service is available to drop you off and pick you up. There’s a fantastic ski shop called Sports House for ski rentals, and a skilled gentleman named Adrian expertly adjusted my own boots. Ski passes can be purchased at reception, and the ski train, just a 2-minute walk across the road, provides easy access to the mountains. There’s also a fabulous sledge run back to the hotel if you take the train up to the Golf stop, and you can ski back to the hotel via a path at Col de Soud. However, the service doesn’t quite match the standards of other Leading Hotels of the World we’ve experienced. The staff seem a little short-staffed, and there are some inconsistencies. Breakfast service, for example, can be hit or miss. On one occasion, I asked the woman who showed us to our table if she could take a coffee order, but she replied that it wasn’t her job and I’d need to ask someone else. One day there was avocado, which was fabulous, but when I asked the next day, I was told it had been a one-off. It would also be nice if water were routinely served at the table and if drink orders were taken when you’re seated. Additionally, egg dishes come at an extra charge, which feels odd for a hotel of this calibre. Bar service is similarly slow—you need to track down a menu and then ask at the bar for someone to take your order. In our room, bathrobes and slippers were removed by housekeeping but not replaced, and on another occasion, towels were taken without new ones being left. Water in the room was not replenished either. The rooms are warm, but without air conditioning, and we couldn’t open the patio doors in the evening because of smoke wafting in from a chimney or fire below. On a positive note, the lady at the spa desk, one of the men at reception, and the driver into town are all a credit to the hotel. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff seemed to have a somewhat nonchalant attitude, which detracted from the overall experience. While the setting and facilities are excellent, these service issues, particularly at this price point, let this hotel down. Would we go again? Probably not, I would look for a hotel with a better 5-star experience.
Victoria Hotel & Residence

I wanted to give the same 4 stars that are on the entrance door, but sadly no. Its a really nice, pleasant hotel, don't get me wrong. Rooms are spacious, and comfortable, although no fridge or water kettle present. The corridors remind of student dorms, rather than luxury hotel. The food in the main restaurant (breakfast but also lunch and dinner) is excellent. Full credit for that, and for the genuinely welcoming staff. But the gym boasts one broken elliptical (and the other drops pieces when used), and a single torn treadmill that users run on at their peril. And its not open early, when most users would use it. The venues are lovely, the bar and lounge are great. Just needs to up its game to deserve all four stars.
