South Lake Resort Koggala

We stayed at this hotel from December 6 to December 18 in room 110. The first impression was very good: pleasant staff, delicious food (even our 2-year-old child had no problems choosing food), excellent room for Sri Lankan standards. And in general, the review would have been 6 out of 5 stars, if not for: 1) the hotel managers guessed to arrange a 24-hour (!) electronic music concert on the territory of the hotel, which lasted all night until the next evening - for obvious reasons, we didn't get much sleep. 2) one day, the air conditioner spat out dirty liquid on the bed and my T-shirt. Somehow I managed to arrange for my T-shirt to be washed at the expense of the hotel, but they did it badly - as a result, there were indelible dirty spots on the T-shirt. 3) and finally (fortunately or not, we found out about it on the day we left the hotel) - 40 of the 200 dollars in the safe was stolen. The amount is obviously small, but this is the first time in almost 30 countries I have visited where money has been stolen from me - a disgrace to the hotel, its staff and managers who cast a shadow on their own country!

A super friendly hotel, nothing was too much trouble for the entire staff in this hotel. The choice of food and drink was amazing and our taste buds were tantalised at every mealtime including breakfast. The Sri Lankan breakfast was banging! Thank you so much to the entire team. We will be back again next year. Also a shout out to the room cleaners they were very attentive and super helpful. A great team at this restaurant too the chef and the manager made a special meal celebration for my daughter’s birthday celebration.

Writing this with great a disappointment being a Sri Lankan to inform you how South lake Resort Koggala handled my (confirmed) reservation. This is property is utterly disorganized property, full of highly unprofessional occupied and staff with Zero communication skills and Zero training in business ethics, and last but not least how greedy they are for money. I say this because, South Lake Resort cancelled my confirmed reservation with less than 24 hrs prior to arrival. Incident in brief, For my 21st B day celebrations photo shoot, I contacted the hotel reservations on the 25thNovember , the person Bhagya(lady) took my order and confirmed the room reservation for the 2nd Dec. I requested Bhagya to send me the confirmation in writing, which she agreed to do so. But until 30th Nov, no response from South Lake. Bhagya, she is not answering or responding to my calls or even had the courtesy to call back for the call she missed. Eventually I dropped a mail to the common reservation mail id on the 30thhoping the someone from reservations would send the confirmation. On the 1st December noon I get a call from a person called Dilshan, saying that he had to cancel my reservation due to a Australian tour group is arriving and they needed more rooms. therefore, hotel decided to cancel mine and give them my rooms to accommodate their guests. When I questioned Dilshan about this, all Dilshan had to tell me was Bhagya had never communicated this with their team and she is missing from the time she took my reservation and had not come to work every since and even the hotel staff cant contact her to inquire about my reservation.(In writing he sent me) Eventually Dilshan wished me luck ,like he did me favor by cancelling the reservation, and hung up. I was totally helpless in the last minute. So this is South Lake for you, South Lake is not up to the standard as per the Star ratings they advertise everywhere. Their staff are not trained at all, this property is in great greed for money, so whatever happens to the individual guests they don’t care. As long as they can earn more, they will not hesitate to cancel any individually booking s at their Specially If you’re a Sri Lankan, they will not even inform you in advance, they will let you find out that your dooms when you arrive at their reception. Star class standard hospitality South Lake, well done. Neither I will recommend this hotel or ever step in for any reason or won’t let any one book this property ever again.

South Lake Resort in Koggala is a fantastic choice for a wedding venue. The combination of its stunning location, professional event planning, exceptional catering, and comfortable accommodations made for a memorable and enjoyable celebration. I highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to host a wedding or any special event in a beautiful and serene setting.

Frankly I had some doubts after seeing some reviews. However it changed from the moment we stepped into the Resort. The welcome was warm, the room was spacious, clean and excellent, the food was fabulous, the service was friendly and personalized from Manager, Chef, Stewards to Room Service or practically everyone. If there was a hitch it was few seconds without power until the generator switched on (automatically) which was beyond their control. Must commend Amendra for clearing the doubts First at the time of booking and then during our stay there.
