A place with a certain charm due to the monastery complex in which it is integrated. Correct reception and willingness to help. The accommodation is good and with everything you need. The dining room where we had breakfast was very nice. Good breakfast. It also has an outdoor terrace fenced with stone to match the monastery and covered with grass.

What a discovery ! The staff couldn’t have been friendlier . The 12 century monastery has been carefully restored and it retains all of its character . The rooms are not large and neither is the bathroom but room 16 was the most wonderful duplex for myself and my husband . We fell in love and ended up staying for 8 nights . This allowed us to properly explore the area ( there is a lot to see and do) .walked around 10K every day and went on many different walks . The churches and the castle are very interesting but the best thing is the beautiful country side .The evening meal was really good value ( 3 courses bread a bottle of wine and soft drinks ) At 18 euros per person really great . Some of the dishes were of fine dining standard in particular the fish and the roasted meats . Can’t believe the harshness of some travellers . We just loved the tranquility of the place and the generosity of all the staff .Don’t come if you like modern places as this is a very old and quirky place.

Stunning place, well located for village. The queen rooms are large (I understand the standard rooms (which are converted monks cells) are small. Secure parking for motorbikes. Staff really friendly. A 3 course meal €15 euros and the food was fantastic. Breakfast was a continental buffet.

We stayed for one night en route to Santander, and chose the hotel as it was conveniently en route. We paid €77 for B&B. Great buildings, really interesting and lots of history with friendly staff. Nice easy walk to the nearby dam if you want some fresh air. We ate in the restaurant for dinner, opting not to walk into town. The food was good and would have been cheaper had we chosen the set menu for €15, rather than selecting a la carte options. Little bits would have helped out the meal, like mint sauce with the lamb, and our dishes contained no vegetables. Breakfast was fine, no complaints. Other than hand alcohol gel and mask requirements, we didn’t see much in the way of covid cleaning. The dining tables were “cleaned” with furniture polish. The biggest concern was around our room (20). Fairly basic, weirdly we were given it for unnecessary disability access. It was a twin room and the bed bases were noisy, creaking loudly every time you turned over. However, that noise was nothing compared to our neighbours in room 21. We could literally hear every word they said, even when clearly whispering carefully in bed. They arrived into the room at 22:30, with a screaming/shouting 4-5 year old. And just didn’t stop having loud conversations until after 12:30am. Our ear plugs didn’t dull the noise at all, they may as well have been in our room. And they completely ignored our requests for them to quieten down. We mentioned the thinness of the walls to reception the following morning, and although he was apologetic, he said the whole place was the same. It’s not somewhere we’d stay again solely for that reason. Sleep is very important!

Firstly the monastery itself is beautiful and has lovely gardens. The staff were all really attentive, check in was efficient. The rooms however are very hot, with no fan or air con. We had one of the single story rooms on the ground floor, because of the style of the windows and having blinds over the windows made opening them whilst still having privacy difficult. The room was very clean and had all that you needed. The breakfast again was more than adequate with bread, pastries, fruit, yogurt and refreshments. The town itself didn’t have much to offer however we did walk to the dam nearby which had lovely views and it’s an easy walk to the town centre.

We were invited to upgrade to a duplex room with a view. Sadly this meant we were sleeping on a platform with 2 single beds at right angles. There was no air conditioning so as heat rises , it was a hot and uncomfortable night’s sleep. The food in the restaurant was disappointing and bland, better to eat in town. The garden of the hotel is charming though. Town is delightful and the scenery is stunning.

Lovely building, quirky but soundproof between bedrooms was non existent. I could hear every word from the next bedroom! I sent a text message to our friends next door bedroom, heard it delivered and heard them read it out! Food was excellent but rather late opening 8.30 pm for us!

Nomal inn rooms - small and uncomfortable cells (in relation to the price) a little neglected in maintenance, clean, correct breakfast for the price, weak restaurant menu, unprofessional but correct service, good cleaning. In general and as an experience (sleeping in a cell) and the place (Monastery) we consider that it was worth it

Great value for the price. We were at the restaurant eating and we repeated it for 3 days. The place has a very pleasant garden area, the tranquility is enviable and the treatment of the staff was unsurpassed.
