+ super nice staff, always very helpful + clean room, towels changed every 2-3 days + kitchenette in the room fully equipped + calm and quiet place - only the rooms nearby the reception have got wifi - far away from the beach (around 25min on foot), no pavements on the way so pedestrians need to be very careful - it’s hard to stay there without a car

We had a wonderful week at the classic apartments. Very relaxing and not overly busy as it’s small. It’s about a 20 minute walk from the nearest beach and shops, restaurants etc. The apartments themselves are traditional and cosy but could do with a bit of a refurb here and there so if you’re looking for posh this isn’t the place for you. However we had a wonderful stay, most of the time we had the pool to ourselves and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I would definitely return.

Ok, firstly its a 2 star self catering apartment not the Ritz, some of the other reviews seem to expect too much. The room is a good size but every thing very basic and cutlery etc limited, in fact we bought some more in town. The staff are lovely and couldnt be more helpful. We love self catering and whilst the venue is a touch rural (beach 20 mins walk in 30 degrees!) there is a bus a short walk which charges 2 Euros to the main town and goes every 20 mins. My main gripe, and i am not sure who is responsible for monitoring this, is the venues description is very misleading. It states there are 2 bars ,one servThis ing a variety of snacks. This is incorrect. There is one bar who offer toasted sandwhiches only. Also it says you can use the venues BBQ with notice but you cannot as their insurance does not cover you. This used to be a vibrant venue as you can see from all the pictures in the bar but the staff there say its been hammered but the all inclusive type hotels, its actually quite sad. It needs some money spent and a chef who could do some food in the evening, BBQs etc. There where always 16/20 at the venue so it must be viable. That said if you want a cheap roof over your head its fine and the pool is lovely and warm!

There is plenty useful info to be found in the other reviews. This one will be on par with the reviews in the 2 star category, regarding the services, rooms and overall stay. The compound is isolated and gated. If you’ve a car with you, a remote for the gate will be provided at the reception desk. Note: there is no adequate parking. Depending on the other guests at the hotel and the time you’re planning on coming in, parking is limited and not guaranteed. The overall look of the exterior of the compound/apartments is pleasant. There are plants, trees and it is decorated creatively. We never used the pool, but from what I could tell it was small in size and it had a lot of rules ( I mean a lot) pertaining to it’s usage. Next to the pool is the reception/bar area which closes very early and it is seriously limited. It is very dated and there is scarce choice regarding everything a bar should possess. The last part is the room itself. For starters, a positive. The room is quite sizable. There were three beds in the room, a small bathroom, a small patio and a kitchen (studio). The first thing you notice upon entering the room (ours was on the ground level) is the lack of natural light. Save for the patio door, and the bathroom window, there is no other source of natural light in the room. And since the patio is surrounded by trees and is constantly under shade, you have to turn on almost all the lights otherwise, even with the curtains drawn the place is very dim. Here are some things that a lot of reviews in this category have stated: - There are only two towels and one roll of toilet paper provided. The towels were changed only once during our 7 day stay. Regarding the towels, there are rules in place specifically stating that you can not use the towels on the ground (as a mat). Should you get “caught”, it will be expected of you to pay a 7 EUR fee. - Do not expect to get your room cleaned, you need to do that yourself. That includes the bathroom, the kitchen and floors. - The only time you can get wifi access is when you’re in the bar/reception area. If you wish to get access to internet after 8 PM, you will have to stand right outside the bar (next to the pool) where the strongest signal is, since the bar and pool are closed off with a rope after the aforementioned timeframe. - Mosquitoes absolutely everywhere. Since the whole apartment complex is surrounded by plants and trees, expect a very large amount of mosquitoes entering your room the moment you open your door. - Depending on the type of room you have and the neighbors right next to you, your nighttime activities will either consists of hunting mosquitos or enduring the very loud conversation, movement and the occasional snoring that can be heard from the paper thin walls. - There is a price list for damages to room furniture and utilities, and it costs 6 EUR for air-conditioning. We had no issues with the staff. All in all, do not book Classic Apartments for a sta

Crete is beautiful and there is so much to see. But accommodation wise…Owners are very pleasant and room is fine. They’re the positives. Kitchen facilities though are beyond basic and utensils are incredibly limited (one knife, tiny pan, pocket sized kettle, no bowls) so self catering is a bit of a push. The pool is very small so swimming is not possible and is not suitable for kids. There is a poolside bar but it has limited range (mythos, wine or coffee) and shuts by 6-7pm. If you have a transfer booked after this time you sit by the pool in the dark (not a joke!) so get a bus into Heraklion instead of booking a private transfer. There is no housekeeping, we had to seek a broom and dustpan to simply sweep through the room ourselves. Be prepared to hire a car, it’s a must as there is nothing in Anissaras so to eat and drink a drive out is necessary. The description online suggest tavernas within 1km. This is not true. Going with this knowledge would have been useful, the description online is fabricated and pictures are not representative of the facilities.

It was my first trip to Crete and I was super excited about this experience. Arrive at the facility in the evening and take us to the room .. dirty to say the least. Cobwebs everywhere. Luckily the sheets and towels were clean, after three days they came to clean and change the linen. It is supposed to be a small apartment, but this one was really too small: two separate cots, a hot plate (full of dust) on one floor with the mini bar and the bathroom. The facility itself is also nice and has potential, but they should look after it better. I will certainly not return to this property on my next trip.
