Honest review Most certainly not a 4*: Rooms: basic, dated decor and furniture, the shower won't stay in position (slips down) and the hair dryer is useless. It's a run down, just about good enough base to explore the resort The resort: Hills: we are lucky to be placed well as I emailed a few times in advance to mention we had an autistic child in our party. God knows how others are managing as our room is a huge trek to get to, up many layers of stairs and we are nearest. It's hilly and has hundreds of steps to each layer Pool: the main pool is small, and salt water which we have adjusted to but worth mentioning. I wake very early so have managed to secure us sun beds each day but without that I can imagine it's not easy to relax here at all as only other option is water park: Waterpark: it's 3 slides. They're decent enough ( all surrounding area shabby and in need of de rust and mats stuck down with a horrible looking glue). Theres nothing attractive about it. There are more sun loungers down here but I am grateful we've not been stuck in this space all day as it's much noisier (loud "AI music" (as my daughter calls it)) Animation: they seem super friendly and you'll have a great time with them IF YOU'RE FRENCH. All entertainment is in French. And they seem to use unnecessarily LOUD sound systems to shout all their instructions (and I'm honestly not a karen, it's intense) Food: the food is average, at best. We did always find some combination of foods to make a decent enough meal, there is variety just not great quality and taste to excite you for meal times. There are SO MANY flies everywhere which is gross (and freaked my autistic son out so much). I'm certain there's more they could do about that if the inclination was there. Some nights there's entertainment (someone singing at a keyboard) a metre away from the first row of tables. It could be good if they got the tone right but it's La la la bumba pelting out as you try and relax and eat a meal and just all feels a bit much (and no choice to have a quieter space as the French animation team are blurting out just next door in other seating available). I'm all for a fun time but as feels a bit 2* Benidorm rather 4* Crete if you know what I mean WiFi: it is free but you're lucky if you ever find a bar! We are super close to central hub and none of us have had wifi in our room our entire stay. (Unless you are down by the pool which is the time we least need it). When asked they used a term we've heard a few times "ah it's because it's August and really busy, nothing we can do..." Drinks: this is where it really shows how cheap they're trying to take things. From any of the bars or restaurants I have not had a single drink I'd consider fizzy. It's flat cheap soft drinks. All mixers are as flat as a pancake and taste awful. Artificial juices etc. it's worse than you'd find in a haven holiday park end of season. Despite all inclusive status we've bought many Coke zeros from th

Just back in the uk after a week in this elounda residence. Where can I start overall we had a lovely holiday and the views from the hotel were just astounding. Hotel itself had something set out on each level it is a very hilly resort which can be a killer in the heat, however they had golf carts and shuttle buses running at all times which was a godsend for us. In all honesty we knew before we went that it would be like this. Drinks they had a good selection of cocktails and mocktails soft drinks etc couldn't really say anything bad about the selection of that. Food ive had worse food but the food unless you got it as soon as it came out was pretty much cold. The selection wasnt so bad at times, though the ques being in a small area for the hot selection didnt help with already going cold food on your plate. This meant majority of the time it being cold by the time you got back to your table. In the resteraunt bit where you are seated we were pretty much swarmed with flys and wasps which when they see this why not put things in place on each table to deter them. Entertainment was pretty rubbish to be honest totally not catered for the English my children were bored in all honesty, the mini disco was repetitive everyday and in the other bit at the sode of the amphitheatre for the entertainment after the mini disco there were no way near enough chairs or tables we had 2 good nights of entertainment which was just a normal disco with a dj there is so much more room for improvement in that area we heard lots of people saying so too. Even in the daytime around the main pool there was nothing really going on when you compare it to other places you have visited entertainment wise it was a real disappointment. Room we were at the top of the hill the first day the air-conditioning didnt work in one of the rooms and was given a fan for the night but it was repaired the next day, I really liked our room in all honesty the bed squeaked a fair bit but the kids were comfortable which is all that mattered to us. Overall I would say its a lovely hotel just needs small improvements. Be sure to take goggles for the pool however being saltwater it kills your eyes didnt bother our kids too much as they were happy playing in their floats. I would definatly recommend a trip into elounda town its beautiful and lots of lovely bars and resteraunts.

I can’t recommend Elounda Residence & Waterpark enough, I am a limited mobility individual who relies on crutches and a wheelchair. We arrived at 2am after a long night and the night receptionist handed us a simple lunch package and a couple of bottles of water, which was amazing for that hour and something we didn’t expect. That kindness really set the tone for the rest of the trip. On our first morning, we met Theo the manager and his warmth and genuine care made us feel instantly at home. He went above and beyond throughout the entire trip and added to the overall kindness that we felt each day (and night) and for that we are grateful. On our final day we met his brother Pavlos, he was driving the golf cart that took us back to our room. Although they are both busy, they both carved out time in their day to speak to us, we never felt as though we were a burden. It is obvious that family spirit is woven into every corner of the resort. The resort is on a hillside with a jaw-dropping view, and could easily have been a nightmare but it wasn’t even close. From the assistance received from staff, to the 24/7 golf cart service the entire trip and resort was made a breeze. With areas a little harder to access, all we had to do was ask for assistance and it was given with no hesitation. All main meals and snacks are buffet-style, and honestly they were delicious every time. The food was fresh and often replenished. There are a couple of sit down restaurants that you can book in advance with special menus that differ day by day. There is an on-site spa and the massage I had was sublime; my therapist was attentive and the hour disappeared. The swimming pool at the bottom couldn’t be easier to reach - I would call or pop into reception and the golf cart would drop you right at the entrance. The lifeguard Dimitris deserves a special shout-out as he went out of his way to be of assistance to me, leaving us feeling safe and entertained throughout the day. The mini market on site was great for odd bits, extremely fair pricing and staff that were as friendly as everyone we had spoken to at the residence. What truly blew me away was the amount of languages the staff spoke, there was never a moment of confusion. If we wanted to explore the village, there was a free shuttle service that the hotel offered, however we were made aware that the shuttle doesn’t go straight into town and there will be a hill to climb, after speaking to reception Kristina arranged a local taxi that was cheap and meant that we could avoid the steep roads, taking us straight to where we wanted to explore. We did this multiple days in a row. Finally on our last night we attended their very first DJ night on the new patio area and it was a fun surprise. Everyone was dancing, guests and staff. It also ran a little later than the bar normally would and that was a great touch. If you are looking for a place to stay where the staff will go that extra mile to attend to you, this is 100% the

Most spectacular views all over the hotel as hotel is located up in hills. So calm and relaxing, quite and clean. Our family room was super spacious and cleaned perfectly every day, made comfy and amazing stay. Food at every meal was with a huge choices, warm and delicious. All inclusive is super tasty and enjoyable every moment - whether with a cocktail at the bar or snack in between main meals. Very good pool with slides for a kids, my daughter enjoyed truly. It's a bonus that there is salty water in swimming pools. These views are really super fantastic up to the hills and I felt very rested after these holidays :) Will be happy to return once again! ;)

Went here beginning of May, worse holiday ever had by far! How this hotel is a 4 star is beyond me! Food was ‘ok’ not the best it was not hot it was warm, we went out a few times and had gorgeous meals in the town of Elounda. All entertainment is French, we then got shouted out by other guests for winning a music quiz that then carried out throughout the whole holiday whilst said guests was present. To be honest entertainment team did translate to English so we could understand and attempt to join in. Thank you to Esteban (unsure of spelling sorry) from the entertainment team for making us feel included! Pool safety, horrific! One life guard for the whole resort that stood at the top of the slides in a hut with sides on manning the slides. Dirt around the pools where drinks had been spilt on the floors and sun loungers days prior and not cleaned. Rooms are very dated, we had a villa with a private pool and could count on 1 hand how many times we used this pool as it had all sorts of dead insects, cockroaches, worms floating in it reported to reception they cleaned it the night before we left absolutely disgusting!! The maid who cleaned our villa daily was so lovely when we spoke to her and did a really good job cleaning our villa. One of my children had to be taken to hospital with an ear infection doctor advised it was due to being in dirty water. Mouldy cups left in the kitchen for us to use. Air con wasn’t working to find no battery’s in any of the remotes in our room. On our last day we rang reception to pick our cases in the golf cart (they offer as free service to get around the resort) to take suitcases at 10.45am we had to be out our villa 11am. At 11.08am the phone rang it was a lady on reception telling us we needed to be out. My husband explained to the lady we are waiting for the suitcases to be picked up they told us to leave them on the front said no as we didn’t want our luggage left there as was a main road running down the side of our villa. The male who drives the golf cart around arrived at our room to collect suitcases arrived at our room and then took it upon himself to swear at us and called us ‘f ing British’ I have never in my life felt so singled out on any holiday I have ever been on apart from this one for being English. I am not one to complain, however before people spend thousands of pounds to come here for 10 nights for a holiday like we did to enjoy ourselves with our children, I’d rather warn people to think twice before booking here and book elsewhere. Elounda the town itself was lovely and the Greek people couldn’t do enough for us and was very welcoming, quite the opposite to the experience at this hotel.
