Giannoulis - Santa Marina Plaza (Adults Only)

Very friendly hotel staff. We were welcomed on arrival with a drink and has a smooth easy checkin before being taken to our room. Room was very spacious with good air con and over looked the pool and sea. Rear of the room overlooked the main road which was sometimes noisy at night. We booked bed and breakfast only so ate in the hotel some days but also ate out. So much choice for breakfast. Try the light Greek yoghurt which was the best yoghurt I've ever eaten. There are plenty of restaurants outside the hotel within a very short walking distance. There's also 2 big supermarkets either side of the hotel. Bus stop to Chania is a very short walk. Busiest times are around 10.30 -11.30 when buses don't stop as they are full. Pay on the bus, cash or card. Despite being told no reserving sun beds, people put their towels on them around 08.00am and then disappeared for several hours. One party of 4 put their towels on the beds and then spent the entire day on the beach!!! Plenty of beds on the beach although some were used by non residents ie families with children on them. Sea was warm with clear water which was fabulous. Life guard was on duty. Only problem I had with the beach was the very loud thumpy music coming from the beach bar next door. They have a loud speaker on the beach. At times this disturbed a few of us sitting by pool as it was so loud. Hotel was exceptional clean and the staff were the friendiest I've come across in all my years of travelling. I can defintely nderstand why many people return to this little gem of a hotel year after year.

We stayed here for a week for my 50th birthday and had a lovely time. We had read the reviews about rooms being overbooked but our poolside room was ready when we arrived, and we received a very warm welcome. It was exceptionally clean throughout the hotel, and the food choice was great (although maybe not the best coffee at breakfast). We went into Chania for a sunset cruise on my birthday and came back to a birthday cake and a bottle of bubbly in the room which was lovely and really thoughtful of the hotel. Very hardworking staff who all seem to take pride in their roles. Weirdly, the worst part of our stay was when we checked out. We’d had to wait a while for the couple in front of us to check out (which was absolutely fine) and overheard them being asked if they’d enjoyed themselves, would they return etc. only to find they didn’t ask us anything. Would we return? Yes. Would we be welcome? Who knows (although we’d hope so!) In any event, we would definitely recommend the hotel to those looking for a relaxing, adult only break in a fantastic beach side location with loads of facilities on the doorstep.

What a lovely, adult only hotel! We stayed half board, the food was very good as was the quality of the drinks. Our room was large with a balcony and sea view. The bed was very comfortable. Aircon was effective. The room had all the extras you would hope for: fridge, hairdryer but you have to pay to use the safe. Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion were all lovely and available to buy at the hotel. The pool and poolside was kept very clean with plenty of beds and umbrellas. Bed reservation does take place. The pool bar is fully stocked and you can buy lunch there too. The hotel is on a nice, very long beach with free sun beds. There are plenty of beach bars to choose from which encourages you to get up from the sun bed and walk! The staff make this hotel...Alexander (manager) is always around, he is hands on and very friendly. Christina is one of the first people you meet on arrival, she is a fabulous front of house, will help with anything and always has a smile on her face. Restaurant and bar staff are attentive and very friendly as are the house keepers (too many names to remember - sorry, but you were all great!) Santa Marina Plaza - thank you for a great stay!

What a fantastic place! I’m truly impressed by this place. I’ve traveled to Crete many times, but I’ve never experienced such hospitality and service. All the staff at this hotel truly put the customer first! The breakfast is absolutely indescribable, and the cleanliness of the hotel is in a league of its own. The rooms are spacious and offer a beautiful view of the sunrise. The hotel manager genuinely shows that he cares about the guests and often stops by to ask how things are going and if there’s anything more they can do for us. The location is excellent and has the most beautiful shallow beach. We really appreciated clean beachtowels each and every morning. It’s easy to get to Chania by both bus and taxi. In the local area, there are many restaurants serving delicious Greek food. My friends and I all agreed that this was top class, and we will definitely be coming back! Fabulous small and friendly type hotel in a superb location with a top class chef. Alexander and his staff really looked after us well, including birthday cake and prosecco for our special birthdays. We questioned our rep about the overbooking rumours and she claimed it was something Jet2 had clamped down on - it's such a shame as there clearly is still an issue. We would recommend making sure you have emailed the hotel direct before you fly out: in fact that gives you the opportunity to book a specific room. We liked this place enough to feel we will return, and probably more than once.

We’re just back from a fantastic week staying at Santa Marina Plaza. We arrived really late evening / early morning and stayed in room 310. From our initial welcome to departing the staff were amazing. They are all so attentive and friendly. The sunrises were stunning from our balcony although we were t up at 6.30am every morning! We did set our alarms to take in a couple of them though. We stayed on a bed & breakfast basis and the breakfasts were really good. There was great variety & great service. Waitress service for coffee & juice was particularly helpful as you could sit at your table and have a drink before you start going your separate ways around the buffet tables! There were always sunbeds available on the designated hotel beach area, the poolside beds were snapped up earlier but we preferred going to the beach anyway. If we timed it right we could grab a poolside bed late in the afternoon when we’d had enough of the beach. There’s a really relaxed vibe around the hotel, guest are of multiple nationalities which is another thing we like. The hotel had everything we needed and they even provided us with a complimentary evening meal on our last night as we awaited our late transfer pickup. We were initially worried about the overbooking issue before our arrival, however can only review our own experience and it was faultless. Thank you again all the staff working for Santa Marina Plaza, sometimes you can see people are great at their jobs, however there’s a difference between this and people who genuinely want you to have a great time. The staff working here genuinely want you to have the best time possible🙏
