This is a reasonably priced national lodging located on a hill just a stone's throw from the sleeping area. The Kiso region produces high-quality cypress, and the interior of the building has a bright atmosphere, with plenty of cypress used, and the hallways have a pleasant cypress scent. The Western-style rooms have been renovated, so they are simple, but modern, clean, and spacious. Also, the bathroom in the room was new and clean. There is no open-air bath in the large public bath, but it was a clean bath. The water wasn't that hot. I thought it would be better if there was a screen door to let the outside air in. In the washroom area, there was a pearl barley lotion. Cold water is outside the bath. Even though it was a day-use hot spring, not everyone came. Therefore, I was using it alone. It's a luxury. This time it's just the two of us. I was disappointed that I couldn't use the bath in the morning. I've stayed at various hotels and inns, but I think this is probably the first time I've stayed in one where I couldn't use the room in the morning. The explanation was that there were fewer users in the morning, CO2 emission limits, carbon neutrality, etc. However, there was no tea cup in the room, there was a disposable plastic cup, and the three remote controls were covered with plastic covers that could be thrown away immediately, which made me wonder what was wrong with the room. Later, when I looked closely at the fact that the public bath cannot be used in the morning, I noticed that the usage times were listed in a small section on the homepage, but they were not listed on the reservation site. In addition, Toron Onsen is an artificial hot spring made from natural medicinal stones. It is said to have the same effect as a natural hot spring, using the natural ore tron stone, which is only found on the earth. I knew about that, but I heard that I thought it was a natural hot spring. I had no choice but to take a bath in my room in the morning. Although it is a unit bath, the legs are long enough to stretch out. Well, you won't know much about any inn until you visit. We had dinner at the restaurant. When you take your seat, the items are brought to you one by one, but the chawanmushi is piping hot and the tempura is freshly fried. There was also tempura with cheese sandwiched between apples. Other than the lack of sashimi, it was a pretty good dinner at a typical inn. As for the drinks, the local sake Nakanori-san's Dry Nama and 300c of Namazake from the sake brewery Nanawarai that I wanted to visit today were both reasonably priced at 880 yen. Breakfast was a Japanese set meal, and rice, apple juice, and coffee were self-serve. The customer service at this inn, including the restaurant, felt quite businesslike. I don't think I'll visit again because I can't take a bath in the morning.

This is my second time using it. The building is a little old but clean. It is a comfortable inn where you can feel the hospitality. Drink bar, water server on each floor, common room, free manga corner, free massage chair. You can choose a yukata, a pillow, and a humidifier. There is an extension outlet and a hair dryer in the room. The standard course meal is reasonably priced at 2,000 yen for dinner and 1,000 yen for breakfast. However, while I think it would be nice if the inn would read it, there are two points I would like to improve. When I stayed for the first time, I was delighted to have hot tempura, probably because it was a weekday stay. When I stayed for the second time, it was a Saturday, so when I went to the dining room, the fried food (fried fish on this day) was already on the table, and it was still a little warm, but it was getting cold. . We got to our seats about 5 minutes before the start of the meal, so if we had sat down on time, we would have been cold. This is a scene that unfolds as a matter of course at a common reasonable ryokan. No matter how low the price, I don't think anyone would be happy to eat cold fried food. Even if you don't force yourself to serve fried food, even if it's simmered or cooked in a hot pot, I'd like you to serve hot food warm. There is a microwave that you can use yourself, so you can warm it up a little, but the fish fry had tartar sauce on it, so I just ate it. For breakfast, cold grilled salmon and a bite omelet came out, so I chinned them in the microwave. After all, it was delicious when warmed up. one more. Even if I wanted to stay, there were only smoking rooms available, so I gave up several times. There is also a smoking room on the 1st floor, and an ashtray is installed outside, so please make all rooms non-smoking. In any case, it is my favorite inn, so I would like to stay again.

It is a hideaway hot springs inn by the clear Kiso River, which is one of the Kiso Hakkei (Eight Great Views of Kiso), surrounded by stillness and a rich natural environment.

The staff really went above and beyond to make two ignorant Canadian tourists feel extremely welcome at a traditional Japanese Ryuken. Though there was a small language barrier, we never felt that we could not communicate our needs. The hot and cold onsen was very refreshing after walking post towns along the Nakasendo Way. The river next to the hotel made for a relaxing experience and deep sleep. Somehow, I missed the option when booking to select the dinner option, there is really no other food options in the area, and the clerk (owner) said he would put a 'simple meal' together for us for a small charge which we found acceptable. The kaiseki that followed was some of the best and most authentic Japanese food we experienced in our two weeks in Japan. The woman serving us was an absolute gem and the cat that ran the establishment was adorable. Our room was very comfortable and had a nice sitting area with a view of the river. Only points of contention would be that that it's a little out of the way if you don't have a car, but is conveniently accessable by bus with ~10 minute walk. The facilities are a little dated, the onsen is discoloured, but I assume that is from the natural minerals. There was a stale smell (smoke) in the rooms which is a bit off-putting to non-smokers. It would appear smoking is allowed in the facility which might be a plus to some.

Conclusions: I stayed for two nights at Tsutaya Tokinoyado Kazari - and the stay is unforgettable. Everything’s was perfect - location, view at the mountains, the staff, the Onsen and the food was amazing. The staff speak some english. If you are nearby them you need to stay at this hotel - it is worth the money. Review: When I arrived at Kiso station the hotel car was waiting outside, where the driver approach me. After 40 min drive I arrived to the hotel, where i got a really warm welcome by the staff. The staff also gave a tour round the hotel, where they tried to explain about everything including the clothes, I could wear during my stay, but I did not really understood what I was told - more about this later. The hotel is located in Kaida Highland in a very small villages - it is so peaceful. There are some farms in the neighborhood, where you can see the small Japanese horses, I did some hiking in the mountains nearby. The nature is very beautiful. The room was amazing - except for the height on the doors. I have chosen a room in western style, because I do not like the Japanesse beds. The room had a balcony with perfect view at the mountains and the sunset. There was a bathtub on the balcony which was amazing, when you have been hiking the most of the day. Breakfast and dinners is included, and the food is amazing. It is Japanesse courses and they tasted really well. The staff and the chief tried to tell about the menu, but it was very difficult to undertand them, but it did not have any impact on this amazing experience. Before dinner you can have a glass of wine or beer in the cozy living room next to the restaurant. In the aisle outside the rooms you will find some clothes - kimonos. One white and one gray/black. When I was introduced to the clothes I did not understand, when I should wear it. But the white kimono is for dinner and the gray/dark kimono is for breakfast. At my first dinner I showed up in my usual clothes, when the rest of the guests were wearing the white kimono. Next morning I showed up in the white kimono when the rest of the guests were wearing the gray/dark kimono. On the second day new guests checked in at the hotel, at they did the same mistake. It was also my first time in an Onsen. I was a really good experience and so good for my body. I have checked at google, what I should do, before i visited the Onsen - i will recommend that. There some special traditions related to an Onsen. But it was so good.

Stayed over for a night as it was one of the hotels nearest to the shuttle bus terminals to get to Komagane. Location wise, very convenient, only about 10 minutes drive to the bus terminal/ bus stops. There is also a COCO curry restaurant just beside or if you can take the car out, it will be just a few minutes drive to many sauce-katsu don places - this is famous in the area. It was a little pricey considering the current situation but at least everything was clean. Size of the rooms were standard Japanese size. Free parking too. There is a manmade onsen on the ground floor. Seems just like a big bathing spa though since the onsen isnt natural. Went at a good time and the onsen was empty. That was good. Covid-19 prevention was good, plastic disposable hand gloves were provided for the breakfast buffet in the morning. Overall, just another normal Japanese chain hotel but the location made up for it, if you are heading to Komagane.

This hotel is located deep in the mountains. Its name is ”Forest Hotel”. It is three kilometers away from the bottom of the mountain. There are few restaurants nearby, and almost none are open at night. The hotel's own restaurant only offers sukiyaki set meals for reservations, and meals cannot be served without reservations. Later, I found a Chinese restaurant ”Kitaro” eight kilometers away from the hotel. The diligent owner was open almost every day and served food until ten o'clock in the evening. I really need this dining advice when staying at this hotel. The nearby attractions of this hotel are very good. In addition to the historical streets, I recommend the ”Sleeping Bed” and ”Asa Valley”. In terms of natural beauty, it is irreplaceable, but it is a bit primitive. I highly recommend it. Wear sneakers to climb. The hotel itself has a large bath, but it is actually just a large bath and does not have sauna-style equipment. It's not a new hotel, but it's well maintained. All the equipment doesn't look shabby. The rooms are big and it's quite comfortable to stay.

This hotel is a two-story business hotel that is rare in Japan. I don't know if it's a new one or a new one, but it's a hotel that doesn't have to be there. Therefore, it is rare for Hijo that there is no elevator. 1F is a normal business hotel because the parking lot is in front of you, but when you open the light shielding curtain, you can see it completely. Free coffee, free breakfast, and free WOWOW are the highlights of the route inn, but breakfast is of high quality for free, and there is no problem with business use or economy trips. It's a short walk from the station, but there are countless places to eat if you use a car, and there are many specialties such as sauce cutlet, romen and ina, and it's about 20 minutes by car to Takato, which is famous by the side. There are two EV stand parking lots. Be careful not to mistake it for the route inn right next to the interchange.

It was a room facing the road, and at night it was quiet and I felt like I had slipped back in time looking at the road. It was quiet, probably because I stayed out of season, so I enjoyed the town quietly and slowly. It was a room without a bath, but there was a large public bath, so there was no problem. The large public bath was satisfying with an open-air bath along the river. The room was clean and spacious. The building may be old, but it was well renovated and I didn't feel old. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and you can feel Kisoji. It was a satisfying stay.

We stayed here one night at the end of a walk along the Nakasendo way from Magome to Tsumago. The hotels shuttle bus picked us up. It’s about 20 minutes drive. I was given a choice of yukata to wear, but not my husband (as if he cared anyway!) We had a Japanese style room with a small balcony and after a delicious dinner in our own little dining cubicle, we came back to our room to find futons laid out on the floor. We didn’t try the onsen and unfortunately the private onsen was fully booked until 10pm. Breakfast was also Japanese cuisine. The serving staff were delightful. There is a guest lounge where you can help yourself to tea and coffee and newspapers. We were driven to the train station after breakfast. I’m not sure what other activities are available if you were to stay longer. One slight negative- the ensuite bathroom in our room was a bit dated. Overall, it was a great experience.
