Cozy hotel with private parking. You could smell clean everywhere from the corridors to the rooms, friendly and helpful staff, our room was very large with a safe and fridge. We requested an extra pillow and a courtesy kit and they were ready to satisfy our requests. Convenient location to reach the various villages of Garda and a stone's throw from the Affi commercial area. Good breakfast.

Breakfast is very rich, can not be extra bed, depending on the type of apartment you book, suitable for children, the hotel location is very good and quiet, the key is that the hotel's own meal is delicious, tender beef with tuna sauce left me Impressed, it is one of the best beef to eat in Europe, very distinctive. The location on a traffic-rich axis is acceptable for unique stay at closed windows. The quality and equipment of the hotel is excellent. The same can be said for breakfast.

All right... I would only see the bathroom walls with a little muffa but nothing about it. Beautiful shower and comfortable bed. Accile room

This 3-4 star hotel is exactly as described and reviewed. So don’t expect a 5 star luxury palace. But if you want a good hotel in a quiet position, a 10-15min walk to the centre of Desenzano, then this fits the bill. We arrived earlier than regular check in but were met with friendly reception staff. I had emailed Hotel Oliveto knowing this and as promised could leave bags at reception and use the pool and pool bar till our room was ready. I forgot to pack a towel in hand luggage so rented pool towels (€3 per towel for the entire stay - not unreasonable) The pool is 25x10m, clean, not overly chlorinated and a lovely 28 degrees. It has spa corners to relax in and plentiful loungers and umbrellas. The family friendly hotel had lots of kids but the pool was never overly crowded, nor was the space around it. There’s no view of the lake but it’s reasonably private and I think it’s fine. The pool bar is open from midday till 7 and serves simple snack food (sandwiches, toasties, chips etc along with a reasonable range of drinks) A separate shaded seating area means you can eat away from the pool. When we got into the room, it was one of the older styles (as expected). The new refurbished ones look on the photos to be of a much more modern and luxury type but the standard double we had was as per the photos. Given I wasn’t planning to do much in the room other than sleep, wake up and shower, it was fine. The bathroom is dated but there’s plenty of hot water, a reasonable shower, very good AC and despite the previous reviews I found the WiFi to be pretty good. The breakfast was varied and as expected at a 4 star hotel. Plenty of choice with juice, coffees and teas, cereals, sweet pastries and cakes, continental meats and cheeses, yoghurts, fresh fruits and limited cooked breakfast items. We stayed when the hotel was full and although the dining area was full, we never had to wait for a table. Serving up till 10am meant we could lie in too. The other hotel facilities we used was the gym. A reasonable place with 2 running machines, a static cycle, rowing machine, a multi-weights machine, bench, free weights, kettles, Swiss balls and mat. Well air conditioned, you needed to book (COVID restrictions) but we were always able to get a slot we wanted. There was an indoor pool, and spa circuit but it was so nice and hot outside, we never tried them. The other reviews seem to be positive about them. We never had dinner at the hotel either. Desenzano del Garda is a town at the lower West corner of Lake Garda. It has some upmarket shops but in general is a laid back place with lots of restaurants. Don’t expect trendy fashionista bars or nightclubs. It’s clearly fueled by tourism but again doesn’t feel overly crowded or intimidating. Just a nice compact place. It’s a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel to the town centre which was never a problem. The town has a rocky beach with lounger/shade hire, pedalos and beachside restaurants. The location of this hotel is good and the pool is nice. Be aware most of the sun beds are in the shade from midday onwards. It was heated to 28 degrees which seemed crazy. The reason for 3* is the low quality of the room. For £200+ a night we have stayed in beautiful hotels in Lisbon and Ljubljana recently for example. This was so basic. It was meant to be a superior room. The walls were completely bare (see pics). There were no tea/coffee making facilities. The TV was tiny and had just one English Channel (Sky news). The walls were so thin I could hear our neighbour snoring every night and the restaurant on the floor above prepping the breakfast from 7am each day. There is a fridge in the room with a bottle of sparkling and still water which gets replaced each day. The fridge makes noises on and off through the night and there’s a flashing LED on the smoke alarm directly above the bed. The hairdryer was tiny and hopeless. The air con worked well and the bathroom was nice. There was free shampoo and conditioner but no body lotion. That’s about all I could say for the room. Often on reviews like this there is a reply asking why this wasn’t brought to staff’s attention at the time. On check in we immediately asked if we could pay to upgrade our room as we weren’t happy with it and were told the hotel was fully booked. The original room we were given smelled of cigarettes so we were given one two doors away which was the same without the smoke. Once they cleared the flies and we checked in later it was ok. Breakfast and service / bar staff were lovely. My husband drank their bottle of Disaronno dry and we were surprised they didn’t have another still a day later - weird thing to run out of in Italy. Reception staff weren’t helpful. We asked about bus services - they just said to go and have a look at the tourist info place without really indicating where it was. I asked if there was a strike the next day as I’d seen something about a public transport strike. They looked a bit blank and clearly googled it and then said oh yes, it’s on strike tomorrow. They confirmed it would also affect the boats but they turned out to be running fine the next day! Pre arrival we arranged return transfers to Verona airport through the hotel at 70 EUR each way and they were excellent. Overall the hotel didn’t feel worth the money.
