Beautiful hotel with wonderful facilities and services including private pools with plenty of sunbeds, a gym, spa, art exhibition room, games room with pool tables and football tables and TVs showing live sports matches. There are also organised daytime activities and evening entertainment. I loved the neutral and mint earth tone colourway theme throughout the hotel which is very calming and relaxing. I also respect the hotel's commitment to sustainability by installing water filleting machines to reuse bottles and refillable soap and shampoo dispensers. My room was warm, cozy and clean with a nice balcony view and a variety of tv channel and movie selections including Netflix. The cleaning lady was kind to remake my bed from two twin beds into a large double bed with beautiful flower petal decorations and chocolate truffle treats which were delicious and I appreciated the additional touches. The breakfast was delicious ans very filling, presented in a buffet style with so much variety and choice of different stations within the dining room (cereal and granola; fruit, salad and juice bar; toast and baguette station; pattessarie station; hot English breakfast station with a section dedicated to different preparations of eggs). Staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent location with stunning sea and mountain hill views and has direct access to Torviscas Beach which is less than a 3-minute walk. There are also many local shops, bars and restaurants including a mcdonalds by the beach. I really enjoyed my stay here and will definitely revisit in the future!

Very confusing booking system ! We had booked a room with a view two weeks before our arrival , uploading our passport photos etc via a third party booking system called Hotelverse . Previously Ruth (my wife) had tried to book directly through hotel Gran Tacande in February but was eventually directed onto Hotelverse. Upon arrival we were told that the room with a view we chose was no longer available and that we would be required to pay another 63 Euros to change it . Hotelverse had sent an email to me two days before arrival informing me that room was no longer available . Not sure why they e mailed me as my wife was dealing with the holiday via her email – I had never heard of Hotelverse . We complained upon arrival then were offered a choice of two other rooms without paying the 63 Euros that Hotelverse demanded . I asked to have a look but they insisted that I pay the balance of £2,563.74 before they would show me the rooms . I payed . The room we ended up with was good but the views were inferior to our original booking . We were then given a free option to the sauna and swirl pool on a one hour daily basis . It seems like the Hotelverse system is new and has not yet been integrated fully with the original Hotel Gran Tacande booking system ! Or .....you only 'select' a room thinking that you have booked a room after paying a deposit then Hotelverse makes the final call . I don't want to end on the negative as the holiday was, on the whole, a success . All staff were really friendly ( they did not look too tired ) , the pool was always kept clean as was the hotel . The food was exceptional for the price bracket . The restaurant by the pool is good value for lunches , and serves up a delicious mango salad . Lastly , a quick thanks to Angelica our cheerful waitress . Thanks also to the professional Yoga instructors : Nataly and Roscio - I was a complete novice. Ends

We had a fab time at playaolid. Staff were so nice and worked so hard. Be prepared for walking up and down steps if you aren't in the main building with the lift . We were top floor and had 6 flights of stairs to go up and down. The food was your average 3 star hotel food- maybe better with breakfast always being our fav. Pool bar open everyday 10am til 5pm meant you didn't have to get dressed to eat inside, although we did one day just to test it out. Mexican food night was great and a lovely touch having a 3 peice Mexican musical trio. Bar soft drinks not great but we added a bit of cordial that's sat on the bar to a lemonade or water were happy. The slush pina coladas were my fav. We were super lucky with the weather- I think they had a bit of a heat wave, my kids were happy in the pool all week, we ventured down to the games room once but no-one else was in there! The evening entertainment wasn't great some nights. But we didn't stay for the first few. The Friday night Latin band are not to be missed. They were amazing and a great end to a great holiday.

This hotel has its pros and cons. I would definitely say this is a 3 star hotel rather than a 4 star. The rooms were clean, spacious and came with a stocked fridge which was a nice touch. However, the air conditioning was useless and did not offer any respite after baking in the heat all day. When we went it was only 24 degrees both inside and outside the room so I can’t imagine how unbearable it would be in the height of summer. The pool area was nice with plenty of bars, sun beds and activities throughout the day. It is a good place to take children with the benefit of the mini disco at night. The staff were friendly and helpful so no grumbles there. However, the food. Unfortunately, this is the hotels’ major downfall. The food was cold, stale and repetitive. The pasta, which there was an abundance of, was undercooked. Regardless of what time we went to the restaurant the food was cold, congealed and tasteless. The labelling of the food was a bit hit and miss as well. There was an abundance of cold desserts but due to the labelling issue, I cannot tell you what they are. Not good for those with dietary restrictions. To the hotels credit, they did offer a lot of cold salad options which included a cheese selection. It appears that they struggle at HOT food. However, due to the location of the hotel being close to the beach, shops and restaurants, we were fortunate that we could eat outside the restaurant. However, if eating out every night is not an option and food is an important factor when booking a holiday, I would advise you to reconsider.

We pre booked a ‘pay at hotel’ stay way back just out of previous UK lockdown and glad we did as prices have increased dramatically. This was our 5th visit to RGV, previous stay was way back in 2018. Full credit must go to the team at RGV and to Fiona especially as she works relentlessly in the background to ensure that the hotel continues to operate at a continuous high standard. The small touches such as a cake for my wife’s birthday and a polite request in the restaurant El Jardín was honoured with no fuss whatsoever. We stayed with our friends in a majestic villa which was really lovely, outstandingly comfortable and luxuriously appointed. Tip: if you want to chase the sun here, then choose villas that are to the left hand side of reception as they curve around with the road, so we got sun to about 330pm in the afternoon. Villa Joanna (2 bed) or Villa Rubi (1 bed) would easily get sun until 6pm in winter months. There was some building work next to the hotel, Fiona and the team were very conscious of this and were ensuring everyone was not disappointed about this. To be honest, it didn’t really bother us at all. We arranged a visit to Royal River to have a look around as it is part of the same group. Although we didn’t eat there, this could be arranged through reception at RGV. We were also allowed to go and use the facilities such as the pool and the sun deck areas, which meant that we could have the afternoon sun for a little longer due to the slightly different aspect of Royal River. We had a very relaxing stay and the revised covid measures that were introduced during our stay were no trouble as the extremely helpful colleagues here at RGV meant that it caused us no stress whatsoever. Though no fault of the hotel whatsoever, it does sit up the hillside which means that clouds sometimes hang around for longer periods, whereas further down near the sea, it was often sunny for longer periods. This coupled with the fact that Tenerife prices have increased dramatically, I am not convinced that we would return as the Caribbean now is becoming more of a favourable competitive destination. RGV still hits the spot though and if you are considering booking then book directly with the hotel as they may be more competitive on price

We’ve just returned from a 7 night stay at this beautiful hotel. We’re a family of 3 which includes our 20 month old toddler. Just to set the tone of this review….The hotel couldn’t have been more perfect for all 3 of us. - We booked a junior suite and we’re lucky to get allocated a suite that has separate bedrooms. This was a hugely appreciated bonus as that meant my husband and I were still able to spend the evening together once our toddler was asleep without having to sit in a dark hotel room. I’m sure other parents know what I mean and what a massive difference this makes. :) -Food was super tasty and varied. I highly recommend the grill station outside of the restaurant. The lamb cutlets were delicious. Plenty of choice also for children/toddlers. The staff was so super friendly and rushed to make sure a high Chair was readily available and a kids plate/cutlery was quickly provided too. I loved the fact that there were lots of families with children but also plenty of couples by themselves. It’s high class and definitely 5* and the hotel with its set up has found a great way of keeping up that standard. -All pool areas are really well payed out in my opinion. The kids area (which is absolutely perfect) includes two pools, water slides for slightly older children and a couple of small slides for toddlers. The outdoor play area is brilliant and has everything a toddler (and older kids too) would need. They also have an indoor play area attached to the restaurant which had been very helpful when our toddler didn’t want to sit at the table. At least one of us was able to eat, whilst the other one was in the play area with her. Genius 😊 - The kids club was incredible. The staff is super friendly and our daughter loved spending a couple of hours a day with some new friends in the crèche. No doubt, this feature therefore allowed my husband and I to make use of the Spa or simply chill by the pool for an afternoon. Thank you to the whole team for making this possible. You guys rock! These were just some of our highlights, and I could go on and on but all in all this hotel definitely deserves this great review. We will definitely be back and I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a 'luxury' family holiday. We can’t wait to book again! 3rd visit this year……that’s how much I enjoy the Corales. I would like to thank the pool staff, in particular, Khalid, Ismark, Angel, Eddy, Gustavo and Andreas. All are so welcoming and remember how I like my coffee etc. What a credit to the hotel. Justyna and Angie are just a joy first thing in the morning at breakfast in Olivia’s. The staff in Starfish are outstanding, as is the food and hence I have booked my next visit!
