I don't know what all the other reviewers are looking at but we had a dreadful experience at this hotel. Upon arrival we were dropped at the door and had to carry our luggage up a couple of steps to reception. Our room wasn't ready so we had lunch at the only restaurant open which was by the pool. A very pale looking chicken breast and chips were served which was like a school dinner. Upon being shown to our villa, Three bed with pool , we were very disappointed , it was really old fashioned, pine wardrobes which all squeaked upon opening, there were three bedrooms but only two safes, one of which didn't work and we had to call reception. The dining table and chairs were outside with no shade, the upstairs balcony sunbed had no shade. All three bedrooms were made up with twin beds ! When unpacking, my daughter asked me to look at her wall which was wet and looked like it had been newly plastered. We said we would keep an eye on it and look at it the next day. The following day, after all taking showers, the wall started to lose plaster which was falling on the floor on the room and the bathroom next door. I took photos and went to reception, I was referred to another person who asked me to leave it with her for a few hours. A maintenance guy then came and simply plastered over it again, this was obviously never going to solve the problem as there was a leak from the shower pipes. After this failed to dry, I again went to reception when we were offered another villa, the villa in question had a much smaller outdoor area so we declined but offered to pay for an upgrade and was told none were available although the hotel seemed extremely quiet. The lady then advised my husband that she would move us and put another family in our villa which did not sit well with us so we declined. A further visit from maintenance and the wall was again re-plastered and sealant added to the shower tray. They said they would be back to paint the wall but we asked that this was not done as we were worried about the fumes. We were then approached and offered a free drink if we would sign a disclaimer waiving any rights to a claim. At this point we decided to check out and go back to The Royal River which we had stayed at before-The Hotel Villa Maria should have a look at The Royal River if it wants to know what a real 5star hotel is.
