Booked the hotel through Trip.com, paid for the stay online. The hotel asked for cash payment. Later admitted the mistake and promised a refund. Never received the money back.

My wife and I were in an elevator going back to our room when the elevator stopped and the power went out. We screemed and yelled for help in English and Amharic but nobody answered nore tried to help. We were stuck in a complete darkness for what it seemed like eternity with nobody even trying to assure us we not gonna die. After a long time the power came back and I went to speak to a manager and all she said was We are sorry with a grin on her face! This is the worse experience I had in my life where my wife and I were afraid for our life because of the hotel and the hotel did nothing to make us feel better about it!

This Hotel is just the best. I loved it the most because of their attention to details and their high speed internet wherever you are in the Hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious and they just give you a sense of being home that you can find nowhere else. The staff are friendly and very committed to giving their guest the best experience. I generally didn't like the test of Ethiopian food so i could only rely on their good breakfast in the morning cause it was very hard for me to find anything else tasty during the day. Saphire, you are the best!!!

We hosted the Ethiopian national reading summit at this hotel and they were wonderful to work with. The room was lovely and they made every attempt to make our stay a great experience. I was able to use their shuttle service and they were reliable.

I spent a week at the Sapphire hotel and couldn't have been happier with my stay. The staff was very friendly and capable. My room was immaculate. The internet connectivity was strong and reliable. The only "down side" was that there was some noise late in the evening of music playing and gatherings- but nothing that kept me awake. The shuttle was available to meet my flight and provided me with a quick return to the airport when I needed to leave. While there, I attended a conference which was held in their conference facilities and they did a really lovely job catering the event. Breakfast was provided each day with fresh fruit, breads, traditional food and omelets made to order... and of course the amazing coffee Ethiopia is known for.

Well fortunately or un-fortunately not sure but i missed my flight due a gate change at Addis Airport 00.20 hrs. leaving me with only 2 options either to spend the next 24hrs at the airport to go back to Addis. Called up Sapphire receipt at arnd 3.45 am, and asked if i could have the room with an early check in as i would be checking out at 6.00 pm same same day. Ms. Abyssina Bay--amazing customer service oriented, with strong inter-personal skills advised the possibility of a check in by 9.00am and check out to my convenience and also arranged an airport shuttle pick up service at 4.30 am reached hotel at 4.45 (distance very short (airport to hotel), rested at the lobby till 7.00 after which Ms. Abyssina Bay, allowed an early check i t 7.00 which was the best thing to happen at that hour, (seeing the tiredness on my face and the flight missing scenario). Also offered breakfast same day of check in (as i wouldn't be there the 2nd day). So guest services definitely Sapphire is 11 on 10 (have travelled to Addis more than 15 times stayed at 6 different hotels but this kinda courtesy no where including 5 star properties) At breakfast too staff service was over-whelming, Room good to sleep Did not use any other services as such but looked good, their lobby during evening looked all pepped, with guest in and out. Overall good place and worth the costs.

Sadly, I think inconsistent is my enduring memory of my 7 night stay. Starting with a 45min wait for the shuttle from the hotel (which the check-in desk staff insisted had arrived on time, but it took several calls to the hotel only to be told the shuttle was 'on its way') to the shuttle back to the airport being exactly on time. To the variety of vegetarian options on the menu to the one vegetarian meal actually available in the main restaurant in the evenings. To the rather well presented deep fried cheese sticks with chips I ordered one night from the mezzanine snack bar to the dumped, oily mess of burnt chips and burnt cheese sticks the following night. To the friendliness of some staff to being argued with and blanked by others. To the clean, snow white linen to the grubby and stained carpet in my room... Only room ventilation available was to leave the balcony door open which meant quite a bit of street noise. No fan or aircon available. Lighting was poor for working in and no desk lamp available. Otherwise room was comfortable, although wallpaper was peeling in several places. Furniture and decor is very 'bling' and plastic with shiny marble floors - could be a big hotel in any African capital... Nothing uniquely Ethiopian, which was a shame. On reflection, I think a whole bunch of staff training would improve things dramatically. Right from housekeeping through to catering and wait staff to reception desk staff. This hotel has potential to be a pleasant place to stay... But from my initial experience, I think I would try somewhere else next time.

I have seen the story that was posted on an instagram,tiktok and google from your side and the hotel side too,and before i saw the replay from the hotel i thought that one of tbe employee from the hotel stole the money,but when i saw tbe reply it is 100% it is not the fault of the hotel ,if you put DND Sign and no one from the hotel employee did not come to your room how can you be able to blame the company ? The second thing is the hotel mentioned that they have a safe deposit box and we all can understand that the safe deposit box is used to put all kind of important things specially document,money,gold or other special belongings and the 3rd thing is sometimes it is very important to see things from diferent angels how can you be sure none if your family members or friends did not steal the money because i belive in seeing tbings wisely. But instead of posting d/t kind of things it is better for you to resolve the problem with the hotel ,but that is actually my thought
