Beautiful grounds and setting. Not quite the standard I would expect for the price. Toilet had been used in arrival & not flushed on arrival at cabin . Took 2 calls to get someone to come clean. Cabin inside arrangement need improvement for comfort. So over priced . Best thing was restaurant with excellent food. Cabins need a mirror to see yourself and cozier sitting area . So so overall nice stay but overpriced and cleanliness issuec

Hotel Review: Disappointing Experience at The Inness -- Tick Infestation and Mishandled Shipment I recently stayed at The Inness on April 21-22, renting three rooms and enjoying all our meals onsite. We also paid a $5,000 fee to hold a photoshoot outside in the field in front of the hotel. Unfortunately, our experience both during and after our stay was deeply stressful and disappointing. 1. Tick Infestation During Photoshoot While shooting outdoors on the hotel's grounds, our team encountered a serious tick infestation. This was a major health risk, especially since the hotel knew we would be outdoors but provided no warning about this known hazard. One team member has an autoimmune condition and would have refused to participate had we been informed. The lack of communication about this environmental risk shows a concerning disregard for guest safety and care. 2. Mishandling of Valuable Shipment Due to the hotel's internet failure, the front desk agreed to ship six boxes of our photoshoot materials -- valued at more than $17,000 -- on our behalf. I provided detailed Excel instructions and shipping labels the morning after our shoot, yet the hotel delayed pickup by a week and then shipped everything incorrectly. Worse, the hotel has failed to confirm that they shipped everything properly, leaving us without our goods or answers. This is bad business. Over 3 months later, none of the packages have arrived, and Innes fails to acknowledge any mistake or reimburse us in any way. This business has no morals, accountability or empathy to their clients.

The Inness could use so much more in simple basic services and amenities . A poolside attendant at the adult pool would be nice . There is no food or bar service offered . No mats on lounges that are on buggy grass . The rates are not cheap and guest comfort needs to be at the forefront at all times The dinner was excellent, the waitstaff and kitchen were very accommodating and nice. The breakfast menu could be worked on , fruit, muffins cereal ... The rooms are very minimalistic . No clock radio , the phone is on a box on the floor. mY cabin #19 is looking at two big half dead trees instead of a landscape . For my wife and I it's a one hit wonder . I was expecting so much more and was disappointed. My wife and i love to go upstate NY . This trip was a gift for my 70th birthday from a few of my nephews and we were very excited to go .

I hope this review is helpful and I also hope the owners of the property read my note as my intention is to ADD VALUE not to complain. I would like to point out the highlights first and give a shout out to staff that do not reflect the "2.5" below average rating. If you have a chance to book Forest as a massage therapist at the spa facility.....do it! I've had many massages all over the world and he ranks in the top 5. Christina at the front desk was lovely, communicative and helpful. Kayla drove us to our room and she was also lovely. I do not remember our waitress's name at the restaurant (Thursday night, March 26th)....but she was amazing. The food was delicious. We booked a suite at the Farmhouse (second floor), the house has 12 rooms and I believe there were 2 other rooms occupied. We pretty much had the house to ourselves! I cannot imagine staying there under any other circumstances, competing for areas of communal space. It might work for a younger population however, I have no idea how that demographic would afford $800 plus bucks a night in the "off" season. The room was lovely, bed amazing, linens amazing. Love the honor bar concept! Now I would like to present offerings for what I felt was WAY below standard given the expense. I've traveled to leading hotels around the world and have stayed at similar hotels in the area with a similar aesthetic (Wild flower Farms) 20 minutes away, as well as other resorts in the Hudson Valley (Mirabeau) and Woodstock- Woodstock Away, This place is missing the important details that create the experience that need to accompany a high end luxury experience. Details that aren't too difficult to accomplish. 1. The coffee is awful. I have no idea why this is hard to accomplish. It's a problem in so many hotels and so easy to fix. Provide a french press and GREAT coffee options! Espresso for those of us that love strong coffee. Real whipping cream. Or a pour over. There is nothing worse than a crappy cup of coffee in the morning. EASY FIX 2. So many beautiful fireplaces located at the farm house, plenty of wood stacked and fire starter pods.......BUT no matches to be found, no fire place tools. 3. Arriving and having no clue where the reception is located, no sign, Reception is attached to a store and it looks like a store not a hotel reception. 4. The spa is ridiculously small. I cannot even imagine being there if the place was busy. It cannot accommodate more than 4 women getting ready in the tiny locker room area and the robes were cheap and tiny. It's a shame because it's a beautiful spa (steam, bath, pool (which was not open). The waiting area is uncomfortable and very tiny, in a hallway. $270 bucks for a massage is a bit steep with these conditions. 5. Breakfast should absolutely be included, or at the very least a continental breakfast at the terrible coffee station set up at the farm house. Paper cups? we are in this amazing house drinking terrible co

A two night stay was almost $4,000. Inness, in its current state is at best a $350 per night hotel charging $500-$1400 per night. It would seem the events such as weddings and the kids camp take precedence over the guests staying at the hotel. For example, the pool is unavailable until after 11am. The grounds are wildly overgrown and not maintained. The paths are difficult to use safely especially in the dark and/or bad weather. Other than walking through the overgrown grass, pool or golf there isn't much else to do there. The farmhouse rooms are basic. The room didn't get made up as the maid didn't speak english. She didn't understand being asked to come back in 5 minutes. The walls are very thin. You do hear everything. If someone is awake, the whole farmhouse will be. The locks on the doors only open and close with a push rather than a turn which makes a loud noise. So it's impossible to be quiet later at night. Breakfast is not included. However, some pretty nasty coffee is sometimes available in the kitchen area. $12 for a packet for chips. There's nothing else food wise at the farmhouse. The restaurant's food and service was great and reasonably priced. The SPA is very hard to get a reservation and tips are mandatory. The staff were very nice. There is a lot of potential at Inness and I did have a nice stay but it's embarrassingly overpriced and in desperate need of improvements. I can only assume they have run out of money after building all the cabins and have nothing left to maintain or run the hotel propelry. I wouldn't go back.

Check your credit card statement after your trip here! I was randomly charged for things I didn't purchase, and when I called to dispute these charges, they told me they came from the Inness restaurant and from things I took at the hotel room (mini-fridge). I never visited the hotel restaurant, and I made sure not to take anything from the room. When I shared this with the hotel, they told me they would remove the charges, "since it must have been charged to my room by accident." It's been a week, and the charges haven't been removed. I called again, but haven't received proof of the charge cancellation in print. Now I'm just going to take this up with my credit card company. It's a shame this sort of thing happened, because otherwise Inness is quite beautiful. However, I don't think it is worth the price... Additionally, the hassle of fighting off these mystery charges that were made without my permission for things I never even purchased has just turned me off, and I just don't ever want to go again. I don't trust this place with my credit card info.

This could be the coolest place ever, but it's not, won't and never will be, because it will be copied much better, with no kinks, and the "in the know" peeps will move on. Imagine an upstate hotel on 225+ acres, but not enough parking, so you might have to wait and circle a while (12 minutes) before finding a spot in a muddy gravel lot. And for Eh-em, $1250, you get awesome Aesop products, but just two bottles of water and an exorbitantly priced mini-bar - like $13 for a beer! Come on guys. The Spa, which was fully booked is $275 for a an hour session, with a mandatory 18% tip included. Wait there's more, the restaurant. The space is loud but nice and the food delicious and well priced, but the service unacceptable. Lang waits for drinks, food delivered all at once, or the wrong order. We had four meals during the week, and by the end, we just had to laugh when our breakfast came ten minutes apart, or four appetizers arriving all at once. I'll never go back nor recommend it. For that price, ($1250/night), breakfast should be included, the minibar complimentary, the waitstaff properly trained, etc., etc. The photos of the property are awesome, the rest of the experience, not.
