Located about a 25 minute walk from the Abu Simbel temples, this lovely Nubian style guest house was an ideal base to stay for our two nights. The owner could not have been more helpful and friendly. He spoke good English and was always on hand to offer advice or travel tips. Our bedroom had a bath, shower, plenty of powerpoints, clean towells mosquito nets and everything you would expect, but presented in authentic Nubian style. The breakfast/lunch/dinner area had comfortable sofas and tables for sitting and eating (and doing e-mails!). The wi-fi was surprisingly good too. Breakfast was a tasty omelette followed by plenty of coffee (or tea) and bread, yoghurt and cheese. Lunch was soup, followed by a tasty tagline with fish or chicken. It tasted good and did not give us any stomach problems. We took the one hour boat trip on Lake Nasser (400 Egyptian pounds) and saw plenty of wild birds, and of course the temple from the boat. I also swam in Lake Nasser on several occasions from a small beach close to the guest house (just opposite the hospital). My wife worried about crocodiles, but I saw none - nor any evidence of any. If you are anxious, do check! A taxi to the airport (10 minutes) cost us 175 Egyptian pounds. Overall, we really liked this place. At £115 for two people for two nights (bed and breakfast) it was good value too.
