This was a diamond in the rough. The architecture was lovely with a courtyard herb garden, a north-facing restaurant, brick-barrelled ceilings, good beds, palm frond furniture, and new bathroom furnishings. AC worked well. The people were very nice. The food was very good. "In the rough" was from naked bulbs and raw pine doors and wardrobe which actually may have been part of the decor. Minus for bad smell in bathroom that probably came through the vent. If I was going back to Abu Simbel, I would stay there again.

I'm only rating their restaurant in this review and not the hotel. We stopped in for lunch after having visited the Abul Simbel temples. The fish and chicken dishes they served us were excellent as was the lemon and mint tea. The staff were exceedingly friendly and responsive.

I stopped for lunch. It's definitely a touristic place, but the food was very good and the 2 Egyptians that were with us said everything was well prepared. I had fish, which is not easily found in local restaurants. Pretty view, garden, a few inner rooms.

We had been to the temple complex so after a busy morning sight seeing this was a welcome place to stop for lunch before returning to Aswan. It is clearly a hotel as well which looked like a good place to stay and if the restaurant / service is nothing to go by may be worth a stay. We enjoyed Egyptian tagine for lunch which was well presented, hot (not everything we got on Egypt was) and tasty. Service was friendly and helpful. A good hearty local cuisine meal.

This is a friendly no nonsense guest house with clean rooms, good showers and straightforward food. The highlight is probably the Nubian decoration, which really adds a a lot of colourful joy to a visit. It’s also a short ride from the main Abu Simbel temples.

During our trip trough Egypt we decide to stay in Abu Simbel for 1 night in order to divide to bus round trip through the dessert of 3.5 hrs each way and this worked out wonderfully, we saw the temples almost alone and we could watch a perfect sound and light show. The Kabarra Nubian House in which we stayed is a traditional Nubian Hotel, complete with colorfull Nubian decorations and Nubian style accomodations. The room is certainly big enough and the bathroom is provided with all you could ask for in a simpel fashion. The food is really good and the breakfast on the outside terras is a treat, especially if you like birds, there are very many different species to be seen including a very beautifull Smyrna Kingfisher. If you are planning to stay in Abu Simbel we reccommend you to stay in this typical Nubian Lodge.

Superb food and all the facilities of a guest house. Friendly staff plus the bright colours of Nubian culture. It is a real gift to Abu Simbel which does not have that many places which are a big draw. It is newly done up and a great pleasure to visit.

Kabara (Kapara) Nubian house is one of the best restaurant we have eaten at!!!!!!!! Well appointed in traditional Nubian way. Bran flat bread is to die for. Eggplant was out of this world. Beans were cooked to perfection served in a clay pot. Mixed vegetables were literally finger licking good. Friendly staff. Super clean. I am lost for words in describing this amazing place which is a stone throw away from the temple of Abu Simbel.

Located about a 25 minute walk from the Abu Simbel temples, this lovely Nubian style guest house was an ideal base to stay for our two nights. The owner could not have been more helpful and friendly. He spoke good English and was always on hand to offer advice or travel tips. Our bedroom had a bath, shower, plenty of powerpoints, clean towells mosquito nets and everything you would expect, but presented in authentic Nubian style. The breakfast/lunch/dinner area had comfortable sofas and tables for sitting and eating (and doing e-mails!). The wi-fi was surprisingly good too. Breakfast was a tasty omelette followed by plenty of coffee (or tea) and bread, yoghurt and cheese. Lunch was soup, followed by a tasty tagline with fish or chicken. It tasted good and did not give us any stomach problems. We took the one hour boat trip on Lake Nasser (400 Egyptian pounds) and saw plenty of wild birds, and of course the temple from the boat. I also swam in Lake Nasser on several occasions from a small beach close to the guest house (just opposite the hospital). My wife worried about crocodiles, but I saw none - nor any evidence of any. If you are anxious, do check! A taxi to the airport (10 minutes) cost us 175 Egyptian pounds. Overall, we really liked this place. At £115 for two people for two nights (bed and breakfast) it was good value too.
