We had a wonderful stay at Lys-Na-Greyne. The house itself is beautiful, full of charm, and set in such a peaceful location. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and had every detail thoughtfully prepared. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice and everything freshly made. Most of all, our hosts Joyce and Garry made us feel truly welcome. They went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed and shared great local recommendations. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and highly recommend Lys-Na-Greyne to anyone visiting the area.

Our visit to Lys-Na-Greyne was absolutely amazing!!! Joyce is such a sweet and gracious hostess. The accommodations were 5 Star!! The house is so gorgeous and historic! The grounds are beautiful, as well. The rooms are so warm and inviting. We played cards each night and the guys drank a little whiskey. The food was delicious and so lovingly prepared. This is just may be my favorite place in Scotland to stay! I highly recommend booking a stay here at Lys-Na-Greyne with Garry and Joyce as your host and hostess.

We stayed at Lys-Na-Greyne in mid September, 2025, for two nights. We were so impressed by the beauty of the inn, the surroundings, and the warmth and friendliness of Joyce and Garry. Our room was the epitome of luxury and comfort and we had a spectacular view of the River Dee, as well as sheep making their daily trek across a pasture. The meals were served with every attention to detail and we were treated like royalty. Lys-Na-Greyne was so peaceful and relaxing after a busy day of sightseeing; we can't wait to go back and we highly recommend staying at this beautiful inn!

This B&B was fantastic! We enjoyed every thing about it - the food, the hospitality, the decor, the grounds were all wonderful. Joyce's recommendation for a very nice "castle loop" (Craigievar Castle, Castle Fraser, and Dunnottar Castle) was a great suggestion and the variety of locations/settings was perfect. We would love to come back.

Gary and Joyce are excellent hosts and make you feel very welcome. The food is excellent and the room was very large and comfortable and had some very good home made flapjacks. He also makes jam and marmalade which you sample at breakfast. The only word I can say is superb and will definitely return Tips for other travellers Aboyne has lots of hidden gems and is worth a visit as is the neighbouring villages of Ballater and Braemar and the Spittal of Glenshee. in Aboyne Try the boat for food and the black sheep for coffee and a cake

The only downside of our time at Lys-na-Greyne was that Joyce and Garry have set the bar impossibly high for all future hotels and B&Bs. They were endlessly patient, helpful, thoughtful and considerate. Rooms were beautiful and immaculate, with lovely personal touches. The attention to detail was genuinely impressive. The breakfast was not only delicious and generous, but served perfectly and made with locally sourced ingredients. The house itself is stunning, full of character, and set within beautifully kept gardens on the western edge of Aboyne. It's a truly special place and we can't wait to return!

Excellent in all areas, nothing was too much bother. Garry and Joyce were perfect hosts. The whole experience left you feeling wonderfully relaxed, pampered and indulged. Planning on making this our anniversary treat every year.

Grandeur and peace are guaranteed. perfect for a special weekend. I love the way the fantastic hosts of Lys-Na-Greyne have thought of every detail to provide pure luxury to their guests. From the afternoon tea with homemade cakes on arrival, fresh milk, locally made chocolates and more homemade pastries in the bedroom, beautifully designed antique furniture, to nicely scented Arran Aromatics toiletries and the abundance of fluffy towels and robes in the bathroom. Breakfast is generous and of a high quality with only local produce, and the yummy homemade jams and marmalade that you are also able to purchase. The opulent Victorian house is located in a secluded wooded area by the river. It is relaxing to simply sit on the terrace or in the large sitting room sipping drinks from the bar. The rooms with river views are worth the extra expense, rooms 2 & 3 are firm favourites. The scenery is equally picturesque in the winter when everything is covered with snow or under the summer sun. We have been staying here at least once a year for nearly 10 years now and will keep coming !
