The Chester Hotel

Aberdeen|2.79km from Eric Hendrie Park
I had the pleasure of a tour of The Chester Hotel before enjoying a delicious lunch with a work colleague. Being local we have both been for dinner and functions but never had the opportunity to explore more. This hotel has a perfect central location (5 minute taxi or 20 minute walk to the city centre). The Chester has great social/function spaces. A beautifully designed bar area with plenty seating options. Also the newer Gallery area which is a lovely bright space where we chose to eat lunch. The Granite Suite is a large function room which can accommodate 300+ guests for weddings etc but also has pull out walls to reduce the space for smaller functions. (This was being set up during our tour for a function that evening) They also have the Granite Balcony - the largest of the private dining rooms that doubles up as an incredible space for intimate gatherings. It’s possible to seat up to 20 guests for dining with access to a private outdoor area. The rooms were spacious and bright and ranged from classic to suites. The hotel is spread across 5 buildings with easy access between (although could be bit of a maze if you get lost). They also have a separate property out the back called “The House”. This can accommodate a maximum party size of 10 (8 adults and 2 children) with four super king rooms and one sofa bed. However there is no kitchen here so not self catering but still has full access to the hotel. Oh and our lunch in the Gallery was DELICIOUS 👌🏼

We had the most wonderful holistic facial treatment and bank massage. Nikki and Leanne are just lovely and very very good at what they do. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome, relaxed and in safe hands! One of the best Spa Treatments we have ever had. Thank you Nikki and Leanne! Note: It is a small spa with treatment rooms and relaxation rooms however there isn’t a pool, sauna, hot tub etc. We were aware of this before we got there so not a problem for us but just putting this here for info for others because we found it hard to find this information on the website.

The whole atmosphere was relaxing and the rooms were fantastic. Great friendly staff, great food. The beds were super comfy and those pillows were so comfy. I asked the staff where I could buy them from unfortunately he didn’t know it that’s okay. Would defiantly come back again. Thanks for making the whole trip relaxing Lynn craig

Long overdue review that is actually the culmination of multiple return visits which is testament in itself to the hotel itself, value for money, the staff attentiveness and level of service, hotel amenities and central but quiet location which is ideal for striking out across Aberdeen and the NE of Scotland. From booking process, pre arrival correspondence, arrival and check in, personalised room preparation and amenities as standard, very spacious and spotless room itself, relaxed drink in the bar at night and fantastic breakfast every morning to effortless checkout, couldn't fault anything. Friendly, professional and efficient service from beginning to end. Personal touches made us feel welcome, wanted and valued. See you again soon !!

Village Hotel Aberdeen

Booked this hotel whilst on a business trip to Aberdeen and usually like the Village hotel brand. The hotel itself is a modern village style hotel. We arrived late on a Sunday evening and the first experience with a staff member on reception wasn't great and a really abrupt check in. Was allocated a room on the first floor, 123. The room itself was nicely decorated and perfectly adequate. The issue came at 5:30am the next morning when incredibly loud bangs and noises were heard in the room. I thought it coild just be another guest above me getting up, but these noises continued and got louder. Then I looked at some reviews and realised I was right above the gym and multiple guest had suffered the same misfortune. The view from the window was also nonexistent and looked out directly on a small gravel area and then another wall. Hardly a great view of Aberdeen. The same staff member was on reception leading to a very unapologetic conversation regarding changing room for my final night. Was advised to sort when I returned in the evening. Thankfully a different staff member in the evening and the room was changed to a room on the 4th floor. Thankfully there was now a view, if you take out the huge gym roof. Hoping for no noise, I settled back down but then I woke at 6am and was still about to hear pumping music and the obvious sound of a gym instructor - from the 4th floor. I did have my window open for fresh air but even so - I was 4 floors up! Maybe it's an issue for all rooms facing the gym roof, not sure if the rooms the other side might have even better? Don't think I'll stay again!

The most disgusting and dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Net curtains and curtains torn, bathroom floor dirty, beds unstable just hell!! The only good thing was Alan in the bar and the receptionist. It stinks, so many homeless people as well that they take in.
