The location is convenient, halfway between the main train station and most of the eateries and bus stops, which are in the main town area. As for the hotel, it’s true Japanese style with no private showers, instead a Japanese-style public bath is on offer. My room was tatami-floored and had the futon prepared for me. The room was just a space with 4 walls, window, TV, small fridge and table. There’s no private toilet, you have to walk out to the hallway to use it, so you have to lock your room door and bring the key with you. Something worth noting is that there are only two power outlets in the room. It’s fine for a one night stay and if you’re looking off a more Japanese experience, this is an alright option.

It takes about 20-25 minutes to walk along the river to the icebreaker boarding point. However, the area along the river is industrial and full of repair shops. Abashiri is a small place, but this trip to Abashiri saw a huge explosion of drift ice, which was quite worthwhile.

Stayed here for three nights. The hotel's front desk staff are very attentive. The size and environment of the Japanese-style room are very comfortable, but the disadvantage is that there is no private bathroom. We stayed in a Western-style room for the next two nights, which was small but had a nice environment. It is very close to Abashiri Station. We took a bus directly to Shiretoko Snow Mountain for mountain climbing during the first day and returned that night. It's about a 10-minute walk from Amidashi Station. The Dentsu Japanese-style room is older but very clean. The bathroom and toilet are shared, but it's also very clean. The breakfast doesn't have too many varieties, but it's delicious. And it has mentaiko.

This hotel is about a 7-minute walk from the station.
