Prainha
Hotel staff is very friendly and took an interest in us whilst we were celebrating our anniversary. They were helpful and spoke good english. The facilities are great and the view exquisite. Honorable mention to Zendaia 😉. I would definitely recommend going here when visiting Praia.

My wife and I stayed 7 nights, arriving at 6PM by taxi(2000 escudos) from the RAI Airport. Two welcoming English speaking receptionists copied passports, verified our reservation, provided inter island flight info and issued our key cards. We took the elevator up one floor to room #305 with a comfortable king, bathroom with a tiled shower/separate toilet room with very loud squeaky door, central AC and an opening window with a view of the Atlantic surf. Nice TV with CNN in English(for the 1st 5 days only), good room wifi and a relaxed 7AM breakfast run by an overworked chef, server and room number taker; all food groups were included with fresh fruit and an on-request omelet station. We walked to the adjoining shopping center to its well stocked mini market on the lower level, pastelaria on the restaurant level and used its large complimentary gym. We did not use the 7th floor plunge pool/bar with its encompassing view. Taxis(200 escudos) were always available to the Praia plateau and 1000 escudos back to the airport.
Pousada Praia Maria

Praia Maria is an old school renovated in a hotel with careful decoration. It feels like at home. White walls, lack of wooden furniture and mirrors give the hotel a crazy charm. Praia Maria offers all the comforts (private bathrooms, hot water, wifi, air conditioning...) and is located in the heart of the Plateau, in the pedestrian street of July 5, in the heart of the shops and a few hundred meters from the market of Sucupira d'où The hotel is located in the heart of the city, and the hotel is located in the heart of the city. The price-quality ratio was unbattable for the Plateau!

Cha d Areia
We stayed here twice during our family holidays to Cape Verde Islands with our grown up kids. Our 2 rooms were very comfortable, the beds quite new and we had good sleeps. The last stay we got an upgrade. The staff did a lot to accommodate our wishes. The pool on the top terrace has a beautiful view of the ocean and Praia. Location is close to sights. At night not recommended to walk from there as the area may be a little insecure after dark.

Positives: - you are directly in the Plateau of the capital, the location is as much central as possible. Taking this into account, it wasn't noisy at all - we had a room with windows facing the other side, so can't say for the other rooms facing the Plateau itself. - the hotel looks quite small from the street but the rooms are much bigger than expected. You will notice that the hotel is comparatively new, with modern furniture and equipment. - the same goes for cleanliness. You just feel comfortable. Negatives: - staff at the reception could be a bit more helpful. Unlike some other reviewers, I didn't have a feeling they were uninterested, but just not informed and knowledgeable enough; maybe a language barrier was an issue as well. E.g. I needed a post office and had to google it for myself since they had no idea.
Hotel Santa Maria

Maybe I have never lived in a foreign hotel, which is a bit rare. The room does not have disposable items, such as toothbrushes, combs, small toothpaste, slippers, and a small piece of soap and body soap. There are floor towels, bath towels, towels, and hair dryers. The overall area of the room type is OK, but there is a lot of invalid space. There are rocking chairs and two sofas, no balcony, floor-to-ceiling windows are large but the window is a building and there is no view. The room is also equipped with a safe and minibar. Remind friends that the power socket is European standard, so prepare the conversion head in advance or find the hotel. It is recommended to bring your own, domestic brand, bull, convenient and easy to use. The product is as follows. For example, the vacation or stay for a long time, it is recommended to prepare a plug-in board for your own use. The front desk brother is very good, can use English to do simple communication with you, help me solve many problems. Everyone must be mentally prepared, the locals are Portuguese, and some service industry personnel can speak English.
