Fantastic all round stay from the time we checked in till the time we checked out.The hotel is situated in a side street in the middle of faro, but don't let looks fool you as once you enter in the hotels very modern. Greeted with a helpful smiling reception after a grueling time getting through customs was a god send, in the room itself b oth the bedroom and bathroom were clean and spacious Only negative, just black tea available in the room, so all you coffee lovers might want to bring your own as well as a drop of milk if required. Help yourself buffet style breakfast which was amazing with a large selection of both hot or cold available and tea, coffee or juices are here too all at a moderate price. I've just booked a room on the return journey so happy days.

We had a five night break in Faro and stayed at this hotel, conveniently sited overlooking the marina. The airport bus drops you within a three minute walk of the hotel and the train station is just a little further away. We were fortunate to have a lovely room with balcony from which we could see the old town beyond the marina. The room was very comfortable and of a good size too. One disadvantage of the hotel is the small lifts from the reception area to upper floors: we used the stairs for easier access once we had taken bags to our room. The breakfast was very good with a pleasant area outside which was quite warm even in November. Entertainment was provided by a resident pianist and added a little to the general ambience of breakfast time. Overall, we were very pleased with our accommodation and would certainly stay there again if we were to revisit Faro.

Recently refurbished three star property with a four star level of service. While the rooms are small, they are fully equipped and the bathrooms are sparkingly clean. Great air conditioning and good linen and towels. Good shower but sadly with captive liquid soap. Breakfast is the only meal offered but is extremely good even though there are only two hot dishes for us Northern Europeans. Fresh orange juice (whch is wonderful) is available for a small supplement. Given the fact that there's terrific restuarnt across the road (Gimbres by Oleg), the absnce of full meals provision is not noticed. There's s nice lobby bar.

The pool area is the highlight of this hotel. There were plenty of sunbeds for the guests. There is a pool bar which opens if there is a full day of good weather. You must go to the bar, there is no poolside service. The gym and spa area were also good. I enjoyed a lovely massage. The hotel rooms are very compact but functional. Beds and pillows are comfortable. Shower was good and there was always hot water. The air con was great. The fridge works well if you leave the cabinet door open. There is tea and coffee (but not restocked) but no milk. You must put sign on the door if you want the cleaners to do your room. There is no iron in the room and none available on request. You have to pay for an ironing service. The sink drained very slowly in the bathroom. The hallway carpets had some questionable staining - I really cannot understand how they haven’t replaced sections of it. We had a room overlooking the carpark which is not the best view but does get nice evening sunshine on the balcony. The WiFi was good. The breakfast was only ok. I would have expected better. There was nice fresh fruit and fresh croissants each morning but the yogurt, orange juice and coffee were terrible quality. I wouldn’t touch the hot food. If you come down near the end of service, forget about it, staff seem to have given up, I even had to set my own table one morning as none of the tables had been cleared. The piano player at breakfast was very good. They give out flowers to the lady guests some days. These things are nice touches but I imagine guests would rather better food instead. We had lunch in the hotel twice. Pizza was ok. Tried the calamari another day but it could have been deep fried anything to be honest and fries tasted like they’d been sitting around. Rooftop bar is nice with lovely views and they make good cocktails. Bar staff were nice. We only in the rooftop restaurant once and it was disappointing.

This is a beautiful refurbished hotel . Rooms great size , and we had a terrace balcony. Great bathroom. Breakfast is exceptional with plenty of choice and all very fresh .. choice of fruit great for me and my husband was happy with choice of eggs and omelettes Service was excellent at breakfast and some great staff ! The pool area was lovely but on the 3 days we spent there from 10.30 to 3.30 there were at least 8 sun beds with towels and bags on them that no one ever used .. please look at having staff remove this items after a certain amount of time as we would have loved to have used the soft comfy bed at the pool My husband used the gym but was disappointed that there was no water and nothing to clean or sanitise the gym equipment after use … some sanitising wipes would have been great . A manager actually came down to look as another guest complained but he looked around and left ! We would def return to this hotel as it’s in a fab location , breakfast excellent , beautiful views , bar area lovely . Peaceful and quiet and surrounding areas lovely with plenty of great restaurants

Choice of food off a menu, great waiting on staff and food quality and presentation. The restaurant is on the 4th floor/roof terrace and has amazing views of the area. We ate breakfast, lunch and supper outside on the terrace. There is gym but we didn’t have time to use. Breakfast selection excellent. Small plunge pool and some sun loungers in roof terrace. Ideal as pool towels provided. Hotel has a free minibus service to their Sal’Mare Beach Club at Pria de Faro. Need to book a day in advance. Hotel provided beach towels for us to take, minibus driver walked us in and explained that Hotel Faro guests get 10% off food and drink. Great sandy beach. Hotel location ideal looking over small marina. Loads of great restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk of the hotel. Lovely to walk around old town area as well. Great wine shop just to right side of hotel. Approx 10 min taxi transfer from airport. You can see planes at the airport but no aircraft noise. Spoke to numerous guests who were all repeat visitors which says it all. Great hotel, no hesitation staying here again.

A hotel that performs wonderfully. Very friendly and willing service. The facilities are a little old, but everything is clean. The location is great, next to the bus station and the beach. Incredible breakfasts!!! even fresh orange juice I will repeat without a doubt.

The room is very good, relatively large, with a large balcony and an excellent view. The sea view on the ground floor of the hotel is very stunning. There is a restaurant just outside the hotel. Turn left and you will see a bustling night market, which is very similar to Beidaihe.

I would love to give this place a poor review to put people off going so I could keep it for myself but that would be doing the staff a real disservice. I can't fault this place at all- the place was spotless inside and out and the rooms were well equipped with fridge ,safe and air conditioning and lovely hot showers. The breakfast had something for everyone and changed each day. The staff are the real star of the show though and nothing is too much trouble. We mentioned we were looking for worry beads and the next thing we knew one of the waitresses at breakfast went across the street and brought back a selection for us to choose from and purchase from the shop opposite. Special mention to Ioanna who was so friendly and up for a laugh she really made our holiday. Great Central location but quiet with a lovely small pool and pool area. Can't wait to come back!

For a 3 star hotel this is excellent. We had to check out of our villa at 10am - but with a late evening flight home we needed somewhere to dump our cases and enjoy a pool somewhere for the day. We booked this (had to phone due to strange check in/out that we needed) we booked the room from 10am-7pm , obviously we had to be charged for the full day (80 euros) what a bargain! We weren't expecting much but we are pleasantly surprised (writing this sat by the peaceful pool ). Room is large and very clean - can't vouch for.comfort of bed as we won't be sleeping in them). This would make a great, value for money, base and you wouldn't be disappointed with pool and bar - we were feeling a bit deflated coming from a beautiful villa with private pool to a small hotel - but we love it! Staff are very helpful and friendly. If your looking for a good value hotel - this is it!

Nice stuff and a really good experience in check in check out. The hotel is located close to the city centre and has an honest price. It's not the newest, as the floor and bathroom should be renovated but it's not so important if you are looking for a good, safe, cleaned place to stay for a very convenient price.

European chain hotels, because it is just in time for the weekend in Portugal, hotels in Faro are not cheap, and parking is a problem. This hotel is on the side of the expressway. There are special signs on the expressway, and you will arrive as soon as you exit the expressway. The large free parking lot is simply the gospel of self-driving travel. Booked a standard room, the room is really small, but fortunately, although the sparrow is small and complete, the hotel has its own swimming pool, which is the best way to cool off in hot summer. The location of the hotel is okay. It takes 10 minutes to drive to the beach and 10 minutes to walk. There is a large shopping mall with all kinds of food, drinks, brand stores, and supermarkets. There is a Chinese cafeteria on the top floor of the shopping mall, 11 Euros, which is very cost-effective. For Chinese stomachs, you can eat toothpaste. Compared with Spain, the prices here are indeed lower.

My wife and I stayed at this Hotel at the start of June 2023 for 5 nights. I cannot be more complimentary about the service we received from reception staff, breakfast staff and the two 'managers'. My wife has limited mobility and would use a wheel chair. Everything possible was done to make her stay as full as possible and our lovely room, at the front of the hotel was full of tech and extremely comfortable. Not a beech hotel but a glorious city break base, and Faro has more to offer than you might think. Many thanks to Ricardo and his team. Apologies if spelling is not perfect.

I really enjoyed this hotel. It's a distance from all the faro amenities, but it only a few euros in an Uber to reach the heart of faro. There is a free shuttle bus each morning and evening to take you to and from the faro old town and the beach, but we chose to do things on our own schedule. It was only my son and I who stayed here for 4 nights. We loved how quiet the pool area was, and spent lots of time there. The hotel is basic, but clean and served our needs well. The air conditioning in the room was a must! The rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were all friendly, particularly the lady working at the bar. The hotel was clean, although a little dated. But that didn't bother us. Breakfast wasn't the best I've seen, but we enjoyed what he ate. Quality of food in general was poor. We had dinner by the pool one night, and it was terrible. But that is the only negative of our holiday. We booked the shuttle bus to take us to the airport after check out. This was a seamless process, and it was very helpful. All in all, we enjoyed our few days spent at hotel Monaco.

When we checked in everything seemed okay until we got to our room. The room was way smaller than what was shown in the pictures on ***********, for the type of room we booked. They definitely gave us a smaller room than what we paid for. Apart from that, 4 (!) lamps in our room were broken and hanging loose from the wall and ceiling, exposing the electrical wires. The bathroom had mold in it, the showerhead was broken and the cup provided in the bathroom wasn't clean at all. We went to the front desk the same evening. The owner told us she didn't know about this (we later found out they just didn't care). She told us she could call maintenance the day after. They didn't have any other rooms available. And we had to come back again the day after. She didn't seem to wanna help us/care at all. The next day we talked to this other member of staff who offered moving us to one of their other properties in the city. She asked us to come back again the next morning. The next morning we spoke to someone different again about us being moved to the different property. Suddenly there was a different room available in the same property. When we got to the room we came to the conclusion that this was the room type we actually paid for. We also found out that they put new people in our old room without fixing anything. Overall the service was very disappointing and we weren't the only ones with problems. We also overheard other guests complaining at the front desk. The hotel also didn't offer any breakfast service even though they do mention this on ***********. The rooftop bar also wasn't open and there wasn't any other food or drinks service provided apart from a communal hostel kitchen. The rooms don't have hotel basics like a mini fridge, a safe and a kettle for tea. You can definitely get a better room somewhere else for a better price.

This hotel is very recent. Beautiful, elegant and well-equipped in terms of services. What doesn't strike us as normal, however, is the lack of little touches for a hotel in this category. No shampoo, no q-tips, just the same gel for washing hands and in the shower. No shower cap. An empty fridge bar. We appreciate the coffee machine and the bottle of water, but one normal coffee capsule and 3 decaffeinated coffee capsules... not logical... We asked for a room with a bath when we booked (we were ”upgraded” without any request on our part, on a ”marina” view, but with a shower. As we are not very nice customers, we didn't say anything. The bedding is good. The pillows are quite thick, which can be uncomfortable for people with sensitive necks. 3 cushions are available, but they are all very dense. The road is very noisy, subject to a few car rodeos at night. I've heard that the rooftop is noisy in November, but fortunately this is not the case. The staff are friendly and respond to requests. The breakfast buffet is very comprehensive, but for the evening menu, this type of buffet seems less attractive, but will surely please some people. The spa is very good, at 12.5 euros for one hour (equipped swimming pool, sauna, hammam, etc.). There is a car park at the hotel for 6 euros a night, but free parking is available 200m from the hotel by the beach. All in all, then, this is a fine hotel with a lot of potential, but some details clearly need to be reviewed to make it really nice.

Stayed in so many hotels, this is my biggest surprise, the room has a big balcony, you can see the sea from the balcony, it is really beautiful sea, you can choose here next time, breakfast is particularly rich,

A truly great experience!! Room was comfortable and housekeeping excellent. Well placed with a view of the Marina. The highlight of each morning of my 5 night stay was the Breakfast. Fantastic choice and everything well cooked and presented. The staff, particularly the trainees, were always friendly and obliging. I couldn't fault anything about the Breakfast at all. The situation of the Hotel was ideal for me but might not suit everyone as it was sited out of the Town. A beautiful beach was adjacent to the Hotel and even out of season there were a variety of Restaurants nearby. All staff, the Receptionists, Restaurant staff and Housekeeping were outstanding, always greeted me with a smile and very helpful.

Just come back from a four night stay at these apartments and I must say they were excellent. Great amenities lovely pool area and very friendly staff. The little on site shop had all we wanted and we ate in the restaurant on our first night and although there was several items unavailable what we had was great. The apartments are very assessable to the beach and there are a few restaurants nearby although some were closed because it was off season. We recommend Just Beef which is in walking distance up the coast, we ate here twice! Would definitely recommend a stay at these apartments and hope to return soon. Thank you

Beautiful property right on Praia da Rocha. Excellent service at check-in, was given a quick tour of the lobby and room by a wonderful gentleman. Beautiful and tidy room, stunning view from balcony, though the small bathroom window opens into the corridor and at times there is an unpleasant odour from a pipe in the toilet. Breakfast was adequate and delicious, staff were helpful and nice. Overall a great place to stay!

We have just spent a week here, and enjoyed everything about the hotel. * It is spotlessly clean everywhere; rooms serviced daily, to an exceptional standard, with fresh linen and towels. * We stayed B&B - exceptional value for money- worth every penny. We liked the breakfast room- some reviews imply that it’s an unwelcoming space - but we didn’t find that. Hot breakfast offerings- kept replenished and very well presented and again spotlessly clean and high standards observed. Continental options and good selection of bread and pastries. Nice coffees and fresh juices. A huge thank you to the team in the breakfast room- super polite, friendly and efficient- true service with a smile - EVERY morning (apologies- we didn’t get your names). * Reception team - very welcoming and friendly, again always service with a smile. Sasha helped us get a taxi to a restaurant and always had a smile on her face - she is a credit to the hotel as “front of house “. *We stayed in room 306 - has a balcony facing the back of the hotel overlooking the pool. Very comfortable self catering- enough for light lunch preparation. Bathroom excellent. Beds comfortable. Decor clean, fresh, well coordinated and modern design. Went with jet2 and air con/safe included in price and very effective keeping us warm this time of year! Room is good size for a couple. The only negative is the lack of English TV channels- wouldn’t usually be a problem for us - but we had inclement weather and would have given us a distraction in our room for “bad weather days “. * fantastic location- walk through car park opposite hotel and you’ll find all the bars, restaurants and shops within 5mins. The boardwalk is amazing and the beaches/coastal walks are spectacular. Alvor is a beautiful place and we will definitely return in the warmer months to see it in all its glory. * This will definitely be our hotel of choice on our return- due to the welcoming staff, high standards of hygiene, amenities and locality - thank you to the whole team for a lovely stay

Room was very comfortable, clean and beds were nice.Air con worked well when all doors and windows are shuts properly. Bathroom was spacious and hot water. Breakfast was excellent with lots of variety 👌 Staff were fine but not over welcoming with greetings. Paulo was helpful though. No outside pool as shown in pictures, this was a let down for us as we wanted to swim and relax by pool with sun. Indoor looked okay but didn't use it . Location was a 15 min walk to restaurants but uber is available too. Beaches were busy and okay. Seen lots of nicer beaches in Europe 🇪🇺 Ciao

Huge improvement in the last few years. We have been coming to Penina for the last 12 years. Just post Covid, the hotel and golf courses were very run down. (Like many hotels so not unique). The recovery to great service now is impressive. The hotel has not been rebuilt or even redecorated but is much ‘fresher’ and a pleasant place to spend your holiday. The Championship Course is much improved and probably only one more season from being back to great condition. The Resort Course is much improved over this year. Four temporary greens whilst the original greens are relaid. Fairways quite good but tee boxes need attention. Having said that, the price to play has been reduced to compensate and the golf staff made sure you understood that the course is having work before you sign up. The par-3 course no longer exists and there seems no sign that it’s coming back. A web search shows the par-3 as still being advertised. The Gym is still an asset. Bit old but good enough for a rounded work out. Now the gem in the crown and the most improved area is in staff attitude, friendliness and helpfulness. Front desk is very welcoming and efficient. Dolores was ever present and helpful. Bar and Henry Cotton staff are likewise, friendly and efficient. Breakfast is great, choice and quality of food has improved from adequate to very good. Someone is clearly on top of the offer and service. Staff quantity increased and all seem happy and helpful. Golf Shop and Caddy Master group are also great and a joy to interact with. Overall, my opinion…. A 5* hotel that is really a 4* hotel with 5*+ staff. Definitely on the right trajectory getting back to its best. The key to the next level of offer is to finish off the Henry Cotton golf course and get the Resort Couse back to great condition.

Free parking behind the hotel, enter the car park next to the McDonald's drive through. Limited spaces. Parking on the pavement will get you a €30 fine. Walking distance to the marina, beach and plenty of restraunts, pubs and some supermarkets. Kitchen in the apartment is an induction cooker, microwave and a kettle. Some cutlery and cooking utensils provided. Buffet breakfast is some cold cuts, cheese, sliced oranges, melons and kiwi fruit, yoghurt, cereals, scrambled, sunny Side up and boiled eggs. Baked beans, saugages, bacon mushrooms and roasted tomato with cheese. Portugese egg tarts, raisin danishes, chocolate rolls, apple turnovers. White bread, wholemeal bread, croissants and some rolls with butter and some jams available. 3 Small lifts they can fit 2 persons with suitcases. Lighting mostly adequate in the rooms amd living area except for the bathroom which was too dark. Nice balcony area. In the evenings, it was cooler to open the doors than rely on the air conditioner.

We love this hotel the food is amazing, all the staff are very friendly. You get well looked after. the hotel is on the beach and it is worth a sea view. Can not fault this hotel we try and go 3 times a year. Always returning to this hotel due to amazing Service.

When we read reviews we were a bit unsure of our choice. We arrived on the 15th September our room was not available to 2 pm so we had some lunch in the hotel which was good. Our room 212 was perfect except for one small issue with the floor in the sitting area. We were offered to moved but declined due to the location and size of the room. The Housekeepers serviced the room everyday. Bed was so so comfortable. Breakfast was excellent plenty of everything hot or cold. The staff were excellent and friendly. We were always able to get a sun lounger. We chose Bed and Breakfast as we wanted to eat out and such a selection of restaurants. Highly recommend O’Neills Irish Bar food was excellent. Thank you for a wonderful stay at a lovely traditional Portuguese Hotel. We will be back again very soon.

I went alone but never bored. I had a late check in and everything was spot on. I communicated with the hotel about my flight change and quick response they booked me a taxi which was there waiting at weeee hours of the morning. The cleanliness was %100 rooms clean I cannot fault. I enjoyed the bus ride, the Uber was ok. The area was quiet if anyone looking for closeness but the taxi price was good. There was so much to do. My last day went to the spa over by the aqua park OMG it was rejuvenating only thing was you have to pay with a discount if you are staying at the hotel., for 2 hours 25 euros I think it can be a little cheaper for hotel guest. But I am not one to complain it is a kids friendly hotel so expect to hear kids running around planning to bring my grandkids next time, I know they will enjoy it. Breakfast was ok, ate outside for dinner there is so much place to choose from. Just a Uber ride away. A big shout out to Bruno very good cocktail and he gave me tips of places to eat out side. Did not eat breakfast, this is a big resort, the hotel rooms are also very big, the surrounding environment is very good. The service staff is also very good, and there is free parking.

Perfect care. Super educated and sympathetic officials. The room was very good, everything was in perfect order. A good variety of breakfast. I will certainly indicate the Hotel Altismar, without counting the benefit cost, which was excellent.

Just back from another stay at this hotel. Yet again another fantastic stay as always staff are super friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are spacious and clean and the restaurant is very good, stayed half board basis again and the standard of the meals is excellent. Once again thanks to Tiago ,Pedro Liliana, Michelle and RIcardo for making it another great stay for me. I get asked why do I keep going back usually as a solo traveller....(9 visits now in 2 years) simple answer the excellent friendly and professional service that you all provide keep up the good work and thanks again

Absolute great hotel. We've stayed in all but 1 of the 5 star hotel within the Vilamoura area and 1 in Olhao, whilst they all have their good points this one was fantastic. The service was second to none, if you have food allergies then do mention to Guest Relations in the restaurant and you'll eat like a King or Queen. If you've booked a room that is part of Haut Living then the lounge is fabulous and so are the staff in there. They are a credit to the hotel and the Marriot group. I can understand another review on the rooms being a little dark, especially if you were on the ground level floor. The lighting in the rooms is not great and personally doesn't work for those who like to wear make up, even difficult to see in the toilet or the bathroom. However we managed and still are returning in June 2025. See you all soon
