Travelers Reviews of Terengganu Hotels

Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa
4.5/567 Reviews
Definitely the most surprising and exciting trip in life! None of them are very memorable! There are not many tourists who make reservations to visit Perhentian Island in the off-season, so the beach seems to have become a private scenery for me and my sisters. The staff on the island are very friendly and cordial, which gave me a surprise beyond my expectations. I have stayed in many hotels under the Marriott brand and they are all good, but this one gave me an experience like going home. I was on the beachfront downstairs. When we were dining at the small restaurant next to us, the hotel staff treated us to dinner because we didn’t have any cash! When we returned to the airport, the staff at the pier drove us in their own private car to take us around the town. Manager jc also responded to my WhatsApp during the break and helped me with a lot of trivial matters. We were late to catch the boat back to the dock, and all the staff worked together to help me! I was very reluctant to leave when I left, as if I had arrived at a wonderful experience in a Utopia! Every staff member provides above-and-beyond professional and considerate service!

Big room. Comfortable. Bathrooms are all clean. Limited breakfast. Gotta go down a little fast. Overall everything is okay. The hotel is really close to the payang market.  in the middle of the city. Can be reached on foot. In front of the hotel there is a white mosque. Muslims can pray near there.  Only this is an old hotel. So the furniture is all old. Receptionists are all friendly. Really satisfied. School holiday fully book. Must book early.

The standard room is really clean and comfortable for 2-3 persons. The price is really reasonable and affordable for that kind of place and stay. Also, can get a cheaper price if we book online. Really worth the money.
Paya Bunga Hotel
4.5/5408 Reviews
Paya Bunga Hotel in Terengganu offers a convenient and comfortable stay, especially for travelers seeking accessibility and basic amenities. Located near the bus station and just beside a shopping mall, the hotel’s location is a big plus for those who need quick access to transport and retail options. Additionally, there's a 24-hour emart and 7-Eleven right nearby, making it easy to grab snacks or essentials at any time. One of the highlights of the area is the famous Nasi Dagang Atas Tol across the hotel, a must-try local delicacy. Grab services are readily available, and the response time is impressively fast, which is great for getting around. The hotel itself is a bit dated, but it still provides the essentials for a pleasant stay. The rooms are comfortable, though the standard room requires you to request face towels and room slippers. However, a unique touch is that they provide toilet slippers, which I've not found at many other hotels. Breakfast is simple but offers a selection of local dishes, giving guests a taste of Terengganu's traditional flavors. The staff is notably friendly, helpful, and courteous, always ready to assist with any queries. It's also a Muslim-friendly hotel, with facilities and services that cater to the needs of Muslim travelers. For those visiting Terengganu, I would definitely consider booking Paya Bunga Hotel again. The central location, basic but comfortable amenities, and friendly service make it a solid choice for anyone passing through the area.
Mimpi Perhentian

We stayed at Mimpi Perhentian Resort Hotel at the end of June for 3 days and 2 nights, and we regretted not booking a longer stay. Our sea view triple room was perfect for our little family of three, including our six-year-old boy. The resort offers the best views on Long Beach, and we loved the chill vibes in the morning and the lively atmosphere in the evening and night. Booking all our island trips through the hotel was super convenient since we could charge everything to our room. We did snorkeling during our island tour, which is an absolute must-do when you’re on the island. The rooms were exceptionally clean, with comfortable beds, strong air conditioning, and great water pressure for showers. The saltwater hotel pool was also charming and a great spot to relax. We appreciated having the staff handle our luggage and bags, bringing them from the jetty at Kuala Besut all the way to our room at the hotel itself, which was superb! The boat ride to the island was also great, seeming more luxurious than the ones offered by the other resorts on the island. Each and every single staff throughout the hotel was amazing and friendly; making our stay even more enjoyable. Breakfast was just okay, but no worries! There are plenty of cafes just a stone’s throw away with affordable, really good food covering almost all cuisines. A beautiful stroll away, these cafes added to the charm of our stay. Mimpi Perhentian truly is a dream come true. We can’t wait to return!

Everything in here is sooooo niceeeee. The beach view, the amenities, facilities, all are ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Of course not budget friendly, thus we didn't choose for dinner & lunch. The breakfast has quite a limited menu although we spend A LOT for the price which is quite a bit bummer. They will ask MYR1000 DEPOSIT, but we can request to opt for it. The reason for the deposit is for them to auto deduct any additional paid service but if we opt out, we have to pay it straight away (which is fine for us). Have daily activities but some of them have to pay. The entertainment room is funnn. Always playing pool table there but quite eerie at night as the room is far from others and the path to it is a bit dark. Overall still satisfied with this resort as all are tip topp. Their workers are friendly. The beach is unforgettable!! Amenities given are completely more than enough.

The Barat Perhentian

Everything is relative. For perhentian, barat is one of the cleaner hotels around. But for the price I paid during super peak season, one would expect cleaner services. I waited hours for the room to be ready, which I can understand as the night before was fully booked and I arrived before the official check in time. However, when I was finally able to check into my room,, the shampoo packet from the previous guest wasn't picked up and the drain hole still had hair. Towels were also damp. Once we got over this initial disappointment, I was quite happy for the rest of my time there. Room was well equipped with a kettle, hair dryer, fan and super cool air conditioning, the latter was crucial to alleviate the record heat we are experiencing. Location was superb as well. You can go snorkeling at the beach outside the neighboring hotel, where you can see baby sharks hanging around the rocks. I was assured by the staff that momma shark don't hunt there. I guess they are right since I lived to write this review. Those a little braver can swim out to turtle point (life jacket recommended). Every morning, loads of boats arrive here to drop off eager snorkelers hoping to catch a glimpse of turtles. It's nice to have the option to go anytime at your leisure, staying at barat hotel nearby.
