The hotel from the 1990s is in good condition. The rooms are bright and friendly, with white rough fibre tape appears to be freshly renovated. Beds, dressing box, refrigerator and desk corner are recreated with a bright birkenholz furnier. In the bathroom a large mirror such as new, shower sheet and washing table clean and maintained, but traces of calcification in the douche doors. The bath airing works excellently and is very quiet. The large window to the street is well isolated, the street noises are almost completely disconnected. Breakfast buffet in the light dining room meets the requirements of this class, the service is good and breakfast is offered for a long time. Overall, the price-performance ratio was very good. We're happy to come back.

Our family room was very spacious and clean. The bathroom was also bigger than in the standard double rooms of the hotel chain. Although it was located directly on the main road, the noise was absolutely bearable (with the soundproof windows closed) and we slept very well. The proximity to the main train station and the city center, combined with the price-performance ratio, was the perfect combination for us. We recommend this hotel for a city trip to the beautiful state capital.

The hotel is located in the middle of a 1960s high-density East-German-style housing district with a very 1990s-architecture, room furniture style reminiscent of a 1980s American Marriott (kind of faux-elegant), and movie decorations and photos from 1940s Hollywood with Bogart et al. (why, you may ask, Hollywood in Jena? Zeiss cine lenses?). In addition to being unspecifically dated, the hotel could also simply use a fresh coat of paint ... but: everything was clean, the personnel was super-friendly and helpful, the breakfast was plentiful and started at 6:00 (very accommodating for early risers!), the shower was nice and hot, and I had a very, very good-night sleep. The hotel is also close to a tram stop, supermarket, pharmacy, etc. In addition, we had a conference dinner there, which was a good-quality buffet with a variety of options, including vegetarian ones. Overall, a very good stay.

Fine hotel and very cheap. Friendly and easy checking and checkout. A guy checked us in and spoke really good English - he did a good job. We came to the hotel after a 8 hour drive from France so we were a bit tired. So it was good to find the Room inice and clean. The beds are good and it is a silent place. 24 hour reception is good and gives a feeling of security. Parking is pricey for 13 Euros per night. The hotel is located 10 minutes walk from city center with Goethes house.

The hotel is ideally located near the center, and you can quickly reach the sights on foot (market square, St. George's Church and Luther House). The hotel is beautifully furnished. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was adequate for us and clean. We especially liked the air conditioning, as it was nice and cool in the hotel, even though the outside temperature was 38 degrees. The breakfast was also plentiful. We would happily return.

Location, lovely restaurant and great staff I booked because it’s right opposite the train station ….. but this hotel is so much more. Often ‘right opposite the train station’ means you are sacrificing something in terms of appearance and slight seediness for the convenience - but not here ! It’s a lovely old hotel (with a nice history), restored several times over the years, with a particularly impressive glass-surrounded restaurant for all meals. Location - as well as being on a pretty square right in front of the train station it’s less than 10 minutes’ easy straight line walk from the museums and the historic old town. There are plenty of nicely located hotels in the centre too by the way - just not as good for train access. The hotel restaurant is a real delight. Go for the breakfast buffet with some of the best prepared hotel bacon I have ever come across - crispy, fat-free and warm - plus all the usual egg, cereal, fruit salad and bread options. Standard coffee good German filter not espresso (though that’s available at the bar); orange juice average. Supper was freshly cooked smallish choice (these do go hand in hand, of course) - have a look at the menu in advance and if there’s something you like the look of eat here, quality is excellent. Staff very friendly; rooms moderate size, very clean, toiletries provided (shower gel and shampoo, no lotion or conditioner). Large non-leaky showers. You can claim a free snack if you forego your room servicing (!) ….. Rooms are non-smoking but they provide a smokers’ lounge for *******. To be recommended.

There was a very nice room in the roof floor. Great and spacious. Bad with bathroom and rain shower. All very clean and maintained. Breakfast was unfortunately something unilateral and not so overview. A cup with coffee at the table would be great as you stand around the machine. The Croissants were too sweet and of poor quality. The other seeds went but had no baker freshness. There is a lot of potential to improve.

Ein schönes Hotel in der Altstadt und unweit der Krämerbrücke, einem Highlight in Erfurt. Der Parkplatz befindet sich in der Tiefgarage, wie überall ist auch hier die Zufahrt eher beengt und die Parkmöglichkeiten mit größerer Fahrzeugen erfordert etwas Geschick. Direkt von dort gibt es eine Möglichkeit zur Lobby zu gelangen. Unser Zimmer war im 1. STOCK..Schön eingerichtet,sehr sauber, allerdings hatte die Stirnseite des Bettes schon bessere Zeiten gesehen, Kunstleder. Die Matratzen waren gut. Es gibt eine Klimaanlage im Zimmer, wir haben allerdings das geöffnete Fenster vorgezogen. Das Frühstück am nächsten Morgen war sehr lecker 😋. Hier auch sehr aufmerksamer Service. Das Zimmer war bis 12.00 verfügbar. Unser Auto durfte bis 14.00 in der Tiefgarage bleiben. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Das Hotel schien ausgebucht zu sein. Es gab somit keine ausreichenden Parkplätze aber auch nicht genügend Plätze zum Frühstück. Somit entstanden Wartezeiten, welche unnötig waren. Das Personal war aber durchgehend freundlich und versuchte die Situation zu regeln.

Great location, literally 2 minutes on foot to the Erfurt Cathedral. Great breakfast, good variety, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff. The room itself is not what one will expect from a 4-stars-hotel. Absolutely uncomfortable, cold, old furniture which doesn't suit to such a hotel. Horribly noisy, basically you can hear your neighbours, awful! Not to mention the old noisy a/c! No coffee maker or at least a kettle in the room! Instead you're kindly asked to go to the reception and buy coffee or any drinks from the vending machine. And please, people, check the tissues package! If there are only several tissues left, then you'd better change the whole package instead of waiting till it's empty...or am I wrong?! During my next trip to Erfurt I will definitely try another hotel to compare it, this one gets from me the lowest possible mark!

Old School, oder anderes Wort für altbacken, das wäre schon eine Zusammenfassung, die dem Hotel aber nicht ganz gerecht würde, also der Reihe nach: Die Lage des Hotels ist meiner Ansicht nach die beste, die man in Erfurt haben kann. Es erfolgt eine freundliche und professionelle Begrüßung, allerdings ohne darauf hinzuweisen, wie man ins Internet kommt - und man kommt kompliziert ins Internet ;-) Dem Gast bieten sich relativ kleine Zimmer (Kategorie Komfort, immerhin - da möchte man nicht in der billigeren Kategorie wohnen!) Die Zimmer sind tatsächlich recht altbacken, das Bad indes ist modern, groß und hübsch. Die Matratzen sind sehr gut! Der Servicegedanke eines ”Superior”-Hotels zeigt sich etwas darin, dass die Programmzeitschrift beim aktuellen Datum aufgeschlagen ist. Aufgeschlagen sind allerdings auch die Vorhänge des zum Westen gelegenen Zimmers. Dies hatte zur Folge, dass zum Einchecken um 18 Uhr im Zimmer gefühlte 40 Grad herrschten. Ginge noch, aber das Zimmer hat KEINE Klimaanlage! Das Hotel verfügt über ein gutes Restaurant und die Preise der Minibar sind fair. Die andere - die Hausbar - liegt leider direkt neben Zimmer 103. Die Terrassentür der Bar liegt einen Meter entfernt zum Fenster des Zimmers. Man kann also das Zimmerfenster nicht öffnen, weil sonst Lärm und Zigarettengestank ins Zimmer kommen! Das ist höchst ärgerlich, und allein dieser Aspekt hätte mich dazu gebracht, der Hauptaufgabe eines Hotels, nämlich für einen guten Schlaf zu sorgen, nur einen Punkt von 5 zu geben. Zusammenfassend muss ich sagen, dass ich die Schwierigkeiten eines privat geführten Hotels durchaus sehe, aber wie dieses Hotel zu der Kategorie 4* Superior kommt, ist mir absolut schleierhaft. Außer beim Preis: 117,-- € für eine Person im Doppelzimmer ohne Frühstück sind 4* Superior-Niveau, hier deutlich zu viel!

We stayed with 6 adults in 3 standard rooms. Rooms very neat and clean and good sound insulation. Breakfast was ample everything you would expect was there. Staff at reception and bar was friendly, staff at breakfast was rather stiff and came across as a bit cold. All in all a pleasant stay.

Ich kann die teilweise schlechten Erfahrungen nicht nachvollziehen. Wir waren am 1. Adventswochenende dort, da andere Hotels unverschämte Preise verlangt haben. Die Zimmer waren geräumig, optisch ansprechend und sauber, aber etwas hellhörig. Das Frühstück war gut und die Mitarbeiter freundlich. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis hat gestimmt. Die kostenlosen Parkplätze sind ein Pluspunkt und in der Nähe ist eine Bushaltestelle, um das Zentrum ohne Auto zu erreichen.

I checked in at 7.4.23 15.00 online at the hotel. After entering my room, I had to notice that this was not particularly cleaned. In the bathroom and also the tape floor, dental cleaning cups missed. I told me at the reception which gave and reported for cleaning, she said tomorrow morning it will be cleaned then. The weaknesses toilet, bathroom and tape floor were not even so cleaned. The roller holder must not have been cleaned for ever. Drink still on the screwing of the toilet cover. On 9.4. 23 my room was not cleaned, and the beds were not made. Handtucks were not changed. Handle and bathtub were missing. If I didn't sleep like that. Dental cleaning cups were missing again. Then I picked up a tea at the automation and took this cup because the reception was not present, although up to 20.00 there was. Maybe a shoe suit would be fit. The breakfast offer was plenty and very good,it doesn't miss anything. There is something for every guest. The breakfast room is very small, I know other B&B hotels that offer more room and you can stay outside the breakfast times.

Wir sind zufällig abends als Gäste in der Bar gelandet. Vorher keine guten Erfahrungen kulinarischer Art und hinsichtlich des zum Essen passenden Weinangebots gemacht. Aber hier: ein absoluter Profi hinter dem Bartresen! Es hat richtig Freude gemacht, zu beobachten und auch selbst zu erfahren, mit welcher professionellen Hingabe die Drinks bereitet wurden. Wir waren vorher 4 Wochen in Frankreich und mussten feststellen, dass auch dort die Professionalität im Gastronomiebereich kaum noch zu finden war. Umso begeisterter waren wir in der Bar im Hotel Schillerhof in Weimar! Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und haben auch schon im Freundeskreis darüber berichtet. Also: absolut Empfehlenswert und leider schon eine sehr positive Ausnahme!

Wir sind seit vier Tagen im Dorint Hotel und können nur schwärmen...vom Zimmer und den Betten angefangen,dem leckeren Frühstück,(alles frisch und liebevoll angerichtet) bis zu den überaus herzlichen und zuvorkommenden Angestellten (sowohl Zimmermädchen als auch Servicepersonal). Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sind zu Fuß sehr gut zu erreichen..wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

Just a few steps away is the pedestrian street. The restaurant is superb, with first-class service and food. The hotel lobby is connected to the restaurant with a hall, full of paintings on the wall, and concerts are held from time to time. It is very unfortunate that we have to experience this during our last stay at BW Jena. We are a family with a young kid and we’ve stayed at this hotel a few times since beginning of 2023 without any issues. However, we started having issues during the last 2 stays with BW Jena. During stay in April, we were given a room that’s not yet cleaned. The annoying thing is that nobody will pick up the phone if you only calm them from the room, because there‘s only 1 person who works when we checked in around 7pm and if she’s busy taking care of another guest, then you’ll have to wait. We waited at least 30 minutes until we got a new room. Then we had to go down again to return the other room keys. Very inconvenient. Then at night I was ready to sleep and noticed there’s 1 blanket missing. I called the receptionist and she asked me to go down to get it (I’m already in my pajama and was ready to sleep, so again I wasn’t pleased). On our last visit, we were given a room with strong smoke smell. We have a small child and we don’t smoke. Moreover, the smoke smell gives us headaches. I learned from our past that the phone is useless, so I went down to ask for another room. The receptionist said there’s no other room and we basically had to take it. No other alternatives or compensation were offered to us (speaking about customer service). I’ve also called their Germany customer service number, but was rerouted to US customer service, as it was out of their business hours. Understandably, the US CST couldn’t do anything but expressed their emphaty. From the many times we stayed there, the rooms always look clean in the beginning, but over the time you’ll find some broken/cracked/non-functioning amenities in the room. Beds were spring bed - actually not to my taste, but I was willing to go back there because they have a bit bigger room than other hotels and my son needs bigger room to play and move around. Overall I find it unfortunate that the hotel doesn’t keep its 4-star service/rooms-standard. The receptionist became defensive when I asked her to check again about finding another room and just said no to anything I asked and was very unfriendly. I felt that had to pay and stay in a room that is not the same as what I reserved and if I say anything to the hotel they will treat you like their enemy.

We were there often. Rooms are very minimalistic equipped. That was always the case, it's all right. The location of the hotel is excellent to the city centre and to the tram stop. The next good baker where you can breakfast is walking 3 minutes. Breakfast buffet for 10.50 is also good. What we didn't like this time at all: this hotel is going from the atmosphere to the youth hostel. When we came back at 22 p.m., a large group of travelers ”sessed” before the lift with 2 boxes of beer in the middle and very clearly dressed, which would also have been happy to come into contact with other guests. The rest of this group (sleeping guest with a beer bottle in the hand) was still present in the chair next morning .... Also the cleanness left to wish this time. And all this for 3 nights without breakfast for 380 Euro list price is clearly too expensive for us. Good: Parking behind the house and air conditioning in the room.

The hotel is very centrally located and is very modern. We had a deluxe room at the Steigenberger. The too close itself is generous and thus corresponds to the 4 stars mentioned. The room had a bathtub, which isn't exactly standard these days. I can't judge the breakfast service, since in my opinion it is clearly too expensive. The only criticism is the not really working air conditioning. This was not really up to the summer temperatures. What strikes me about almost every hotel is the lack of a clock in the room. Another negative point from my point of view are the relatively expensive fees for the underground car park. You could certainly offer a more customer-friendly and cheaper method. On the whole, this hotel is recommended.
