"This traditional Japanese hotel is conveniently located about 800 meters from JR Katsuura Station, which was perfect since we wanted to see the tuna auction the next morning. We opted for the dinner and breakfast package. Dinner featured Kumano beef sukiyaki, and both meals were delicious. The hotel is a bit older, so some facilities show their age. The seaside hot spring is a unique feature, and we noticed they conduct regular checks on the spring water quality, so cleanliness is clearly a priority."

Overlooking the sparkling Pacific Ocean and with views of the Kushimoto Bridge, Mercure Wakayama Kushimoto Resort & Spa has an amazing location for relaxed stays. Just steps away is Hashigui Beach, with its golden sands and clear waters, making it one of the best resorts in Kushimoto for a beach escape. You're also on one of the Kumano Kodo Trails, ancient pilgrimage routes that take you past shrines and healing sites. We're also just a few minutes' drive from the charming coastal town of Kushimoto.

"Right outside Kushimoto Station, you can spot the hotel's shuttle bus (there's a timetable, and it aligns with most Kuroshio train services). The hotel is a bit dated, but the cleanliness is decent. The room was very spacious, though the furniture is old. The guest lounge in front of the huge floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby offers a variety of free beverages and overlooks the sea. We booked a half-board plan with dinner and breakfast. The buffet dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, and we feasted on tuna sashimi until we couldn't eat anymore. Our mountain-view room overlooked a baseball training field. Watching the young people swinging their bats and hearing the crisp sound at sunset was very relaxing. The public bath was pretty standard, nothing particularly special. There's a circular bus service outside the hotel that goes between Kushimoto Station and various attractions, but the buses are infrequent and the waits are long, so I'd recommend taking a taxi instead. Next to the hotel, there's a small chapel that instantly gave me South California vibes..."

"The hotel facility is excellent and perfectly clean with a high-class traditional japanese service standard. Our room was a deluxe room with private hot spring tub. It's a little pricy while I think it's perfect to celebrate the anniversary with my wife. Dinner and breakfast were good, while it may not be the best comparing with other hotels in the major cities. We expected to watch the sunset at the balcony, while on that day the weather was a bit cloudy so we didn't take a nice photo here."

"The hotel's environment is fantastic, and the entrance garden landscape is absolutely beautiful. The seaside corridor is also stunning, and there's a dedicated hot spring area for foot soaks. The public outdoor hot spring views are also great. The only downside of my trip was the room I booked, which was supposed to have an indoor hot tub, but it turned out to be just a regular bathtub. Although the staff explained that the water was indeed from a hot spring, it still felt disappointing, so I didn't use it. I contacted Ctrip customer service about it, and their handling of the issue was very satisfactory. However, the public bath was a delightful surprise; both the environment and the soaking experience were incredibly comfortable. I highly recommend the dinner buffet. Even though it's a buffet, the ingredients are fresh, and the variety is extensive. You can even grill your own food. The tempura was exceptionally delicious, and they had Haagen-Dazs ice cream! Breakfast, however, wasn't as lavish and was quite simple. Overall, I'd say I'm satisfied."

"A cute and cozy hotel with two showers and one shared toilet. You need to book in advance for the hot spring, and each session is 25 minutes. A downside was that I couldn't get in touch with the hotel. I tried through Trip.com but it didn't work, and the hotel doesn't have an email address. There's a phone number, but I didn't use it as I wouldn't have been able to understand or communicate. However, in the end, the hotel staff on-site were very polite and accommodating."

The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk and an elevator. All 393 rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV. Private bathrooms are equipped with a hairdryer and slippers. Safes and electric kettles are available, and housekeeping service is provided daily. Parking is located away from Hotel Urashima. Please note that room numbers and views cannot be specified.

"The lobby has been completely renovated. The Sunrise Pavilion is expected to open on August 1st. The Mountain Pavilion was also closed one of the days we were there, so we stayed at the Nagisa Pavilion. The experience was just okay – no sea view, just the pier. Dining was on the 4th floor of the main building, and getting to the hot springs and the lobby required a long walk outside. Plus, the duck boat was out of service. The breakfast and dinner buffets were the same every day; after two consecutive nights, we got a bit tired of it. There was no room cleaning for consecutive stays either. However, the hot springs and Langyan Mountain were great! P3 shows the sunset from Langyan Mountain at the hotel – a beautiful blue and pink, absolutely stunning! The three long escalators at the Mountain Pavilion provide direct access to Langyan Mountain, saving your legs, and it's definitely worth a visit. I think the experience will be much better once the Sunrise Pavilion is finished and the duck boat resumes operation. Overall, the hotel staff were warm and friendly!"

"The hotel is conveniently located right by a bus stop. The onsen hotel offers a great variety of food. The dinner buffet included sashimi, and breakfast featured local specialties. "The room was very spacious and had no strange smells. The hotel staff even helped move our stored luggage into the room and provided complimentary snacks and water, which was a very thoughtful touch! The TV showed the occupancy of various public areas, which was super considerate. The hot springs were also very comfortable, with good ambiance and cleanliness. After a dip, they offered popsicles, which was a nice treat. There were two large bookshelves nearby where you could pick out your favorite manga to read, and right outside was the massage chair area – absolutely perfect! In the evening, they offered free late-night noodles that were quite tasty, and there was a self-service drink bar. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of choices, and I even got to try local specialty sushi, which was a unique experience. There was an electronic scale at the stairwell for weighing luggage, which was very convenient. I'd love to visit again if I get the chance!"

"As if guided by the rhythm of the waves, you gently slip away from the bustle of everyday life.Like a calm sea, a quiet and tender flow of time gradually fills your heart. What awaits you here is not merely rest, but the ultimate luxury of “embracing tranquility.”A secluded sanctuary cradled by the deep blue waters of the Kumano Sea—Kumano Bettei Nakanoshima, the inn of the azure island. In a space where everything is thoughtfully arranged to feel “exceptional,” unwind your body and mind and indulge in a truly refined stay.Leave the noise behind and surrender yourself to serenity
all of this awaits you at Nakanoshima."

"I've tried both of the onsen hotels in Nachi that require a ferry to access, Urashima and Nakanoshima, and I highly recommend Nakanoshima. Everything from the hotel environment to the dinner and breakfast was excellent, especially the kaiseki dinner, which left a very deep impression on my trip to Kyoto. The picture shows the menu translated by my phone, and I must specifically mention the wagyu beef – it was absolutely delicious!!! The waitstaff even gave us an extra plate when they saw how much we enjoyed it, which was a great touch! Also, if you're going to use the onsen, you absolutely must try the outdoor one. Relaxing comfortably while looking out at the sea – now that's a vacation!"

We absolutely cannot contain our elation when recalling our recent stay at this remarkable hotel. From the moment we stepped into the elevator adorned with personalized name cards, my husband and I were enveloped in the warm embrace of hospitality. The attention to detail and the genuine kindness of the staff made us feel like VIP guests. They also thoughtfully provided a bucket for us to indulge in the glowing enchantment of firecrackers and even tidied the mess up afterwards. But the best memory of our stay here was definitely the culinary experience given by the chef extraordinaire — Master Chef Matsuki. His creations were nothing short of a gastronomic revelation. Each dish was a testament to his unwavering dedication and profound respect for the ingredients. Oh, the flavors — titillating all our taste buds in every bite. And the generosity of Chef Matsuki in sharing his culinary wisdom, guiding us on how to savor each morsel, elevated the entire dining experience to sheer perfection. The language barrier was no obstacle to the remarkable team of staff members who graced us with their presence. Their command of the English language was commendable, and even those who were not entirely fluent went above and beyond to cater to our every whim and need. Their genuine desire to assist us was palpable, leaving us feeling truly valued and cared for. I am already making plans to return with my beloved family, as I know they too deserve to bask in the unparalleled warmth and luxury that this establishment exudes. This hotel has set the bar impossibly high, redefining the meaning of hospitality and creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. So if you seek a hotel experience that transcends mere accommodation and transforms into a symphony of opulence, impeccable service, and culinary artistry, then look no further. This is the epitome of hospitality, a sanctuary where dreams come true, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who craves an unforgettable journey of indulgence and delight.

We stayed in this lovely family hotel for a night, we opted for room stay with dinner and breakfast. There's no shops or restaurant near by, so highly suggest to choose the stay with meals option, otherwise there's cooking facility within the room also, so I think it's possible to cook your own meal if necessary. Location - the hotel is just round the corner of the famous Shirasaki Ocean Park, we even had a good view of the park from our room. There's parking space right in front of the hotel building, so it's very handy. We cycled to the Shirasaki Ocean Park then to the hotel, so it worked out perfect. There's a very steep slop going up to the hotel though, but it wasn't an issue for us as we pushed out bikes up. Facilities - this is a family run hotel which believes was built a while ago, so can't compare it to all those new built hotels. The ”room” we stayed is more like a mini flat, it has a big kitchen, good sized bathroom with changing area, a separate toilet, a living room, bedroom and an extra ”sitting” area. The entire flat is in traditional Japanese style which we loved, and it has all facilities that made our stay comfortable. It also has coined washing machine and driers. We could even access to rooftop on the 4th floor to view the sunset. If you're looking for a quiet place to have quality time, then this is a good place to do so. There's also ”public bath” within the hotel, it's small but wasn't an issue for us. There's also shower and bath in the room also if you want some privacy. Food - all food was cooked and prepared by the hotel owner, and she's a talented chef! Dinner was impressive, breakfast was standard. The hotel owner is very friendly and lovely, it's definitely ”the place” to stay if you're visiting the area. We highly recommend it.

Highly recommended. Good private location, superb service, big indoor and outdoor onsen, superb view and exceptional service. I stayed during end of Nov. 24. The hotel is value for money indeed. The room is definitely not 17m as it s indicated. It s very spacious with great private sea bay view. I stayed during end here one night and stayed at KAMENOI hotel another night. I truly prefer warmth atmosphere here. The outdoor onsen here is certainly better as well! If I go to Katsuura again, I will definitely stay here.

The hotel is situated at a secluded corner of Wakayama prefecture. It is much preferable to drive here rather than relying on the infrequent hotel shuttle. Public transport is otherwise non existent. There are no restaurants around the hotel. However the hotel provides delicious meals with abundant fresh seafood. The in room dining experience is superb. The hotel staff service is impeccable. The room has a spectacular sea view allowing you to see the sunset on clear days. The onsen also faces the sea which provides a relaxing experience. A downside is that the hotel does not seem to sanitize the slippers for indoor use. All hotel guests had to change to their slippers to access their indoor facilities.
