Best location at Kumamoto, on top of the train station, also connect with Amu Plaza which is very convenient, big shopping mall with great waterfall design, can take elevator go up to hotel, also parking fee only 1000 yen for hotel guest. Hotel with public hot spring for guests to enjoy as well.

Amazing stay. If you have a car I recommend here. The dinner and breakfast was amazing and the staff were super friendly. I spoke a little Japanese and they were so patient with me practicing. The outdoor onsen was the best I’ve stayed at and I could even see some stars at night! Only down side was there was no wall plug next to my bed. Only recommendations is I wish Onsen had ‘adult only’ bathing time as a Single female traveler I’m not the biggest fan of children during my bathing time because of noise.

I had an enchanting two-night stay at this hotel, where the picturesque view of the river from my room added a serene touch to the experience. The onsen was a highlight, boasting a spacious interior and a tranquil outdoor area. The hotel is very grand. I chose a random room and was assigned a large room. When I arrived at the hotel, I learned that the room rate included a room and two meals. There was also the Jixiang Hot Spring (five outdoor pools) 1 kilometer away. I had to soak in it before dinner. One, the staff told me that the meal time was 7:30, and it was nearly 8:00 when I entered. It turned out that the buffet dinner was only at 9:00, so I was in a hurry. The hot spring in the hotel is also very good. The small wooden bridge and the stream near the hotel are good places to take pictures.

The hotel is located at the centre of 黑川溫泉區, which is quite rural so highly recommended to go by car. The service is excellent! The staff helped us to park the car and take the luggages up the stairs to our Japanese style family room. We have ordered full board package and both meals are gorgeous. There are many onsens in the hotel which are non-reserved and private, allowing family to enjoy onsen together. One drawback is that there are many stairs so elderly might have to take it into consideration.

Very traditional ryokan. You have to take off your shoes when you enter the door. There is a Chinese waiter at the front desk of the hotel. But obviously he is a newcomer, and he is not very familiar with some management matters of the hotel and the surrounding attractions. The order is one parking and two food, the ingredients are very fresh, the variety is rich and creative, and the taste is good. Early and evening meals are served in separate private rooms. The hotel proprietress will personally visit each private room to worship visitors and collect their comments on the hotel. The hotel itself is good, the balcony of the room booked has a private bath, facing the river. It's just that the private soup is very ordinary, and the scenery is also average. Yamaga is really a small place, there are no shops and no attractions. There is only one Yachiyo and Lantern Museum. There is nothing to shop around. If it's just a clean picture, it's barely acceptable. More than 3,000 a night is not cost-effective.

We are a couple from Australia and I only speak a little Japanese. This was a truly AMAZING experience! The staff were so kind and friendly, giving us assistance was no issue for them. The location is stunning, the private onsen was glorious and the dinners and breakfasts were bigger than we could possibly eat (and we love our food). The price point for this experience was so good - fantastic value for money. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a little adventure in the heart of countryside Japan. If you get the chance to also visit Minamiaso (they will take you there at no extra charge) for the day, grab some e-bikes and have a ride around- take in the beautiful scenery and wonderful food options.

It was my first time staying here. It was a very beautiful and relaxing space! Breakfast was buffet style and delicious. I would like to use it again if I have the opportunity.

Extremely excellent hotel. All the staff have a great attitude, take the initiative to take luggage, park on behalf of the car, send luggage to the room, introduce the facilities in the room, be kind and courteous. Seafood theme for dinner, abalone, octopus, seafood feast, excellent food, elegant restaurant layout. The bathroom in the room is very large, 11:00check out, the bathhouse is open for 18 hours, very considerate. The rooms and bathhouse have a first-class view.

Ryokan Yumotoso is in a perfect location in the quaint town of Kurokawa. There are about 12 rooms only, hence its quite a quiet and small establishment. Service staff are all great, and the room view is fantastic looking over the beautiful river. The open onsen also overlooks nature, and private onsens are rustic. As per Ryokans, breakfasts and dinners are included, and so far, we have never been disappointed with food in Ryokans, including Yumotoso. Do note that parking lots are limited, and the lane leading to Yumotoso is rather narrow. Would recommend Yumotoso for its great location, fantastic room view and rustic environment.
