Trustable hotel brand with good service. However, the triple room is a bit small for 3 adult, you cannot open three 26inch luggages. Public bath is recommended, however you better avoid the peak season… we went after 24:00 but the area is not yet cleansed 😅

MMaki Dinh 2025.02.12
I originally booked this hotel by mistake but was pleasantly surprised by some aspects of my stay. Tthe location was quite far from Fukuoka, where I had intended to stay for a concert. I arrived at the hotel around 11:30 AM–12 PM after an early morning flight, unaware that check-in wasn’t until 3 PM. When I approached the front desk, the receptionist—a young girl—gave me a strange look before informing me of the check-in time. The lack of warmth in her greeting was disappointing, especially compared to my experiences at other hotels in Japan. The weather on February 6, the day of my arrival, was harsh—it was very windy as it was cold, and I had to walk from Seto bus stop to the hotel with two suitcases in freezing conditions. Exhausted from my flight and journey to Munakata, I had hoped for a more welcoming atmosphere. Instead, after a brief trip to a nearby Lawson to grab food, I returned to the hotel and waited in the lobby, as it was too cold to explore. By 2 PM, fatigue took over, and I lay down on the lobby couch to rest. Despite dozing off in the cold lobby, no staff member approached me. The heating system inside the hotel was weak, and I kept waking up from the biting cold. At 2:30 PM, I heard guests checking in, which surprised me—no one had informed me that I could start checking in earlier. When I lined up at the front desk, the same receptionist from earlier recognized me but seemed to push her colleague forward to assist me, which I found rude and unprofessional for a staff member at a four-star hotel. However, her colleague was kind and attentive. Since I speak Japanese, the check-in process went smoothly. There was an error on my part regarding my booking—I had mistakenly reserved my stay until February 10 instead of February 9. I explained this at the front desk, and the staff member tried to help but apologized, as the booking was made through a third-party site and couldn’t be refunded. I understood this and simply wanted to inform them of my earlier departure. The hotel itself is old but well-maintained. I stayed in a Japanese-style room, which, despite its age, was clean and comfortable. The air-conditioning unit was quite old, but amenities were available on the first floor. The hotel seems to be popular with families or tour groups. There are a lot of Korean guests as well. Even for a business hotel, customer service toward foreign solo travelers was severly lacking. It's embarassing to think that was the kind of training they gave their employees at a four star hotel. I'm writing this review while staying at Comfort Hotel, a cheaper chain of hotel but the omotenashi I received here is on another level. There isn’t much to do nearby Mercure Munakata. The closest kaisendon restaurant was about a 30-minute walk away. Unfortunately, the weather during my stay was terrible—windy and snowy—so I didn’t explore much. There was a church (?) next to the hotel, but nothing else of note. One of the highlights of the stay was the hot spring, which had both indoor and outdoor baths. I didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant, as the prices seemed high. A free shuttle bus is available to Togo Station, but you need to inform the front desk of your preferred departure time in advance. I didn’t take many photos of the hotel itself—there wasn’t much worth capturing besides the bath, where phones aren’t allowed. Would I stay here again? No. Would I recommend this hotel? No, especially not for solo foreign travelers.

More convenient if using a car, parking is free however parking lots may be full at night so better to reach earlier at the hotel. There's also free onsen facilities and a comics room, and there's two buildings so might be confusing when navigating around the hotel. Overall experience is a good stay.

It was excellent. I was initially skeptical because of the cheap price despite the good reviews, but it turned out to be an amazing experience. I can't speak Japanese at all, and my English isn't great either, but the staff kindly used a translator to communicate with me. They were incredibly kind. The amenities are quite good. The room had a clean bathroom and shower (with a bathtub), which I appreciated. I didn't go to the public bath, so I can't comment on that. The view is absolutely stunning. Lying down and looking straight at the park, I felt truly relaxed. The accommodation provided taxi discount tickets and even helped me with reservations for a boat ride and taxis, so I had no trouble getting around. The boat ride boarding point was right in front of the accommodation, so I could walk back to the hotel without much trouble.I also added dinner, and the quality was quite high. I almost missed breakfast because I turned off my alarm, but they kindly called my room to wake me up. Thank you so much.Overall, it was the best. There may not be many tourist attractions nearby, but if you're coming for a boat ride, I don't think there's a better place than this.

The room faces the Yanagawa River and has a picturesque view. Although it is a bit old, it is overall very clean. The large bathhouse and open-air hot spring rest area are equipped with massage chairs, which are very comfortable. Breakfast is satisfying and dinner is rich too

The hotel facilities are less modern but well maintained and clean. It was close to the JR station with walking bridge connection. The receptionist for our check-in process made some mistakes when charging the city tax and did not explain the calculation to us at all. The problem was resolved later during check-out but it took a while to communicate with the staff in English.

This is a Japanese business hotel with perfect cleanliness. There is a small public bath(?) in a corner of the lobby on the first floor (you need to check the password at the front desk every day for the women's bath), which was quite fun. The breakfast room was also neat and the staff were friendly, which was nice. There is a Michelin eel rice bowl restaurant nearby, so even though it is not a busy area, there are many hidden restaurants, so I had a good time during my stay^^

Very good hotel, although the location is relatively remote in Qiuyue Mountain, but the scenery is beautiful and very quiet. Walking outside during the day hardly sees anyone. Many locals are growing their own vegetables and seeing Chinese cabbage drying. The hotel staff does not speak Chinese and the English level is very average, but they can still communicate very well and enjoy every day. The cherry blossom room we booked has its own open-air atmosphere. It is very large, and it is no problem for four or five people to soak together. The shower was in the open air. I thought it would be cold in the outdoor shower in winter, but in fact it was too much, and it was not cold at all. We ordered a Japanese breakfast and dinner, exquisite and delicious. The separate dining room is large and the view is great. The hotel also provides afternoon tea every day with great care. The electric kettle and tea set in the room are changed every day. Stayed for a total of three nights and it was a great experience. However, if you want to go shopping, it is not recommended. The most famous Qiuyue Castle ruins are within a one-kilometer walk, which is very convenient. Tickets are about 20 RMB.

GGuest UserGood value for money and great location. The nicest thing about the hotel is the natual onsen and all the complimentary items for their guests like ramen at night, morning coffee/juice/tea, ice-cream, yakult drinks. We used the onsen every night after a long day out.  The hotel is right next to the subway station.  The room is not big. No room cleaning without a charge. But clean towels are hang outside the door everyday.

AAnonymous UserThis place is close to the domestic airport but far from the international airport. it's inconvenient if you have heavy luggage. in the surrounding area there are some restaurants. The room is quite comfortable but it is cramped to open a large luggage. they provide free toiletries and there is all-you-can-drink. But There are 2 things that disappointed me 1. I made a mistake and made a room reservation for 1 person and made a telephone call if it could be change for 2 people. The male staff on the phone offered an upgrade and I had to pay 4600 yen. I agreed and said I would arrive at the hotel within 2 hours. But when we arrived at the hotel. At front desk there were 2 female staff who didn't know at all about the reservation I made and the changes. The female staff recalculated and I had to pay 4800 yen. Their additional fee is 4400yen + 400yen (accommodation tax for 2 people). Which is different from the phone. When i ask why the additional fee different from the one called? the female staff said it was because there were two of us. But I already paid in full for 1 person and I should have paid as said on the phone. Since I'm too tired from the trip to the hotel and had early morning flight. I just let it be. 2. While resting, I heard a noise and it turned out the sound came from the AC in the room. Even though we didn't use it, the AC made noise all night. I was quite disturbed and lack of sleep for front office staff: it is better to speak slowly but clearly than fast but hard to understand.

GGuest UserThe service is really good. We have 5 family members with 2 rooms booked and arranged next to each other, which is very convenient. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Location is so convenient that connected to the Hakata station and is only a one min's walk in between. Very easy to go anywhere for sight-seeing and shopping around. Good choice for family. Breakfast is nice too.

GGuest UserThough location is a little far but the free shuttle bus to and fro Orio station made is super convenient for an onsen retreat. There's a direct bus from Kitakyushu Airport to Orio station too, which makes it even better. Thankfully, the staff kindly took note of the shuttle reservation request made during booking, otherwise, it would have been very inconvenient to contact them and expensive to get to the resort by other means. They left a note to check the official website for pick-up point but there was no specific information - something that can be improved. The location was found to be BEHIND Maxvalue Shop (see first few photos). The resort is visited by mainly locals so it was helpful to see and ask them for confirmation. Facilities might a bit old but generally clean so it was okay. The room is nice and comfortable, particularly the view. It was very nice to see the hotel using reusable wares with even a refillable jug to get water from a machine at the shared space. Both sides of the natural onsen is switched between male and female everyday. Supper tantan noodles is great! Breakfast is not bad with both fusion western style and traditional Japanese options. It was a very nice and relaxing time!

GGuest UserEverything was acceptable except the frequency of full room cleaning could be every three days instead of four. Secondly, the opening hours of spa in the morning could extend to 10 am. Thirdly, the free coffee served in the lobby should run until 10 am. Also, the coffee machine was broken down at 8:30 am or earlier and no replacement was there. It makes me wonder if they want to serve free coffee or not.

GGFSohThe location of the hotel was further from the station than expected, even if you use the nearest one at West 24. Since I'm not taking the train to get to the airport after checkout, it does not matter much. I must compliment the counter staff, Meng, for helping me to check with the luggage service provider as well as my former hotel as my luggage did not arrive in time during my check in. It was a panicky situation for a solo female traveller, especially when I was due for a morning flight the following day. Onsen facilities are great, there is even an onsite sauna. As the onsen is separately run, you don't have to bring towel from your room to the onsen. Breakfast is great too, with several options from the buffet line.
