A beautiful location next to the Rock River is the best feature of the hotel. The room was large and had a mini refrigerator and microwave. The wifi worked well and there was coffee in the lobby. The front desk is not staffed 24 hours and the rooms are not cleaned every day, but neither is my house, haha. There is a bank and two restaurants sharing the parking lot but otherwise nothing is available within walking distance. A quick five minute drive gets you to anywhere in town.

Overall, the room is nicer than the price would indicate. It’s very close to the interstate and made for a convenient rest stop. That said, upon entering the lobby I was struck by the stench of perhaps ethnic cooking. Luckily further down the hallways were better and my room was fine. My only complaints about the room were very typical in terms of bathroom remodeling, usually remedied without care.
HI Chicago Hostel

Chicago Loop
This is probably one of the best hostels I've stayed at in the U.S. I've stayed at this hostel twice now. The first time was in 2015 and the second time this past month for Market Days. Location: The hostel is centrally located in Downtown Chicago/the Loop. It's easily accessible to get to and from O'Hare Airport via the Blue Line which runs 24 hours. The closest CTA station is Jackson Station which also has connections to many other CTA lines. The hostel is also located within walking distance to many other tourist hotspots like Millennium Park, Broadway shows, Lou Malnati's Pizza (10 minutes), etc. There's also a CVS Pharmacy at the corner of the street that sells liquor and other essentials. On the weekday, the area is bustling with downtown workers, but on the weekends, it's like a ghost town. Most restaurants and stores close by 8/9pm. The only place to eat at if you have a late night is Taco Bell which closes at 2am. Another downside is that there are a lot of homeless people that have set up camp in front and around the hostel, so some people may feel unsafe walking around. Security: The property is very secure. There are multiple entry points to get into the hostel with a key card. There's another entry point to get access to the elevator banks that lead to the rooms as well as required card access to go upstairs and into the rooms. There's also a 24-hour front desk. This was a saving grace for me because my flight from New York was delayed that I ended up arriving at 3:30am. Keep in mind, if you plan to arrive after 3am, you should notify/call the front desk and let them know otherwise they'll mark you as a no-show and cancel your reservation. They also have storage lockers/a luggage room for a fee. Facilities/Amenities: My original reservation was for a 4-bed male dormitory, but there was someone sleeping in my assigned bunk. When you arrive, there is a fitted sheet, pillow sheets, a bath towel, and a face towel (no comforter). You are expected to make your bed. Since I arrived so late and my roommates were already asleep, the overnight staff (DJ) was nice enough to put me in an 8-bed dormitory that was unoccupied, so that I didn't wake up anyone. Both rooms were very spacious/high ceilings/massive windows with a lot of space to store luggage and walk around. All the rooms have lockers (bring your own lock or buy one at the front desk). In the 4-bed dorm, there is a common area with a kitchen/bathroom that connects with 2 suites. The 8-bed room is setup where the toilet, shower, and sink are all in separate areas instead of all in one room. The shower area has dispensers for body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. There are also common showers and toilets on every floor. The downside of the dormitory is that you can't control the temperature of the room. Summers in Chicago are hot and humid and the room was kept in the 60s, which I loved. But, my roommates thought it was too cold for them. The WiFi access is very stable and fast. Th

Had a few issues this morning. Very upset with Carol, one of the hotel staff here at Super 8. I brought up dirty towels and asked to exchange them for clean ones in return. She said it wasn't her job, and that I'd have to wait for housekeeping to arrive. If hospitality isn't in your job description your working at the wrong place. It wasn't busy, and I know there were clean towels in the dryer. Irregardless I left my towels and returned later to pickup clean one's from the housekeeper on duty, whom is a very nice lady. Same with the rest of the hotel staff. Later in the day me and my girlfriend came back to our room as she had to use the restroom desperately. As I knew she would be awhile, I went to use the staff bathroom and asked politely from one of the staff to whom I explained the current situation at hand. I needed to use the facilities. She said yes, then Carol overheard and was angry at her co-worker. So I asked Carol where she wanted me to go. She threw her hands up in disgust, told me to go ahead angrily. I told her don't go there with me. Gave her attitude right back. Idk what her deal is but this isn't hospitality. I get that this is a staff bathroom and you don't have a dedicated lobby bathroom. I even feel like the management has told her to not let guest to use that restroom. I'm sure this is do to the possibility of stealing towels and linens perhaps. The horrifically poor attitude needs to stop. I hope the manager and owner addresses this. Next up is the breakfast options here are very limited. It would be nice to have eggs and bacon. Bagels and cream cheese would be great. They have 2 cereals here, donuts, toast, make your own waffles, a few snacks. I feel more people would enjoy there stay if they would do a few things such as that. The room I'm in I do enjoy very much, it's very spacious. Clean and comfortable. That's all folks. Happy trails to you!
Comfort Inn Joliet West I-80

No frills, nothing fancy here. Standard clean hotel close to I-80. It’s a place to shower, sleep, have some breakfast and leave. There is a gym, I don’t remember if there is a pool (in case you’re into that). Plenty of places to eat lunch and dinner, including a decent pub-style restaurant right across the parking lot. Prices are fair. Overall good stay.

Although it is an older motel, it was in an extremely well maintained condition and very clean. The desk clerks were pleasant, helpful and friendly. Employees all spoke English and the free breakfast was one of the best we’ve had in recent years. Actually, the entire experience was nicer than than our stay atmuch higher priced motel across the st.
