Signel Hostel

Kota Kinabalu City Center
Location is right smack in the old town with a 3 min walk to the Filipino Market and literally a stone's throw to the best pork noodles in KK, cleanliness is immaculate (The staff kept cleaning and cleaning all the time) and the value of the accommodation is one of the most feasible in KK. But most of all, it's the staff: Leo, Cynthia, Vivian and the Malay lady that speaks fluent Mandarin (Sorry for forgetting your name) are the best staff to help you when you come to KK. They helped us arrange extra storage for our big backpacks, lent us their personal rice cooker when we needed something to cook with, helped keep the precious rice wine yeast and tapai we bought from the Sabah interior for 2 weeks, helped us with amenities, moved us to a bed that we liked, recommended great places to eat, etc. etc. When we come back to KK, this is the first place we'll stay!

Had a very good time at this place. Staff is very welcoming and super friendly. Staff, all kinds of volunteers and other guests can always advise you on how to have a good time in KK. Variety of comfortable and cheap rooms, a lounge area to chill or watch movies and a cool reggea bar downstairs to have a good night. The Hostel is located in the centre of KK, everything you need and more is in walking distance (supermarket, convenience stores, delicious and cheap restaurants, night markets, filipino market at the sea, great thrift store). Can absolutely recommend and will be back!!
Cube Bed Station & Tours Sdn Bhd

This hostel is located very strategic and all the restaurant, pharmacy, mini market, etc is within the walking distance. The room was clean. It has hot shower, A/C, amenities, coffee and tea as well. It comes with drinking water too. Room not too big but not too small as well. The hostel doesn't have a lift. It has a common area for people to hang out and have some coffee and tea. The staff was superb. Her name is Fadilah if I got her right. She returned back my wallet which I lost it and she found it at the front door of the hostel. She saved my day. I must give her a two thumbs up for this. The wallet was returned to be as it was before it was drop at the front door table. Thank you Fadilah. This will be my next hostel whenever I will come to Semporna. It has dorm as well with cheaper price.

New hotel. The room is small but clean with comfortable bed. It was quiet even though it was full house. Door beeps when not closed properly. Friendly staff. It is a convenient location. Two malls within walking distance. Ample choice for food. Two disadvantages in the room. The bathroom. One shower will wet the whole bathroom which makes the tile very slippery. There is no chair in the room. I have to stand when needed to do some work on my laptop. I had to place the laptop on a high platform, about waist height. Would recommend a simple high chair.

The location is good, but the road is very congested... It is recommended to leave 45 minutes in advance when going to the airport. Facilities: There seems to be no washing machine, but other basic facilities are available, but the quality of the equipment is not very good. For example, the first toilet is always blocked, the door of my room cannot be locked, and I can enter without swiping a card... Hygiene: clean Environment: Comfortable Service: The front desk does not speak Chinese, but only English. It is the most relaxed place I have ever seen. You can have lunch, watch TV, and play games. Maybe there are fewer customers now.
Homy Seafront Hostel

We spent four nights in a double room and really enjoyed our time here. Yes it might be a little difficult to spot/see at first, but we thought it was in a great central location and well worth the money. Staff are super helpful and friendly (they helped arrange car hire for us for the day) and it's easy to use this as a base and use Grab taxis to get around. OK, the walls are paper thin and you hear traffic noise (ear plugs can be hands), but when the aircon is on and you've spent the day exploring and are dead tired you don't notice. Also nice to have an area where you can prepare your breakfast and the place is walking distance to plenty of places to eat. Would happily stay here again - thanks everyone for a great stay.

Note: This store will ”deliberately” charge a tourist tax (this does not happen in other stores). If no evidence is found, it will charge a tourist tax (RM10 per day). Fortunately, I found the paid tax sent to me by the ordering website. Only after passing the tourist tax ”invoice” can you get back the excess tourist tax!

The hotel room is the same as advertising. The room is clean, comfortable and spacious. The price is affordable. Service is also really good. The hotel receptionist is really friendly and the staff is also helpful. They always provide you with the help you need and will assist you the best way they can. This hotel is located at a strategic location that provides you with a bunch of restaurants and also a mini mart nearby. I had such a great time staying here and will stay here again in the future. Ang Lee Holiday Stay

A wonderful hotel, very contrasting with the surrounding city. The hotel is very clean, wonderful beds, clean linen, there is a refrigerator in the hallway, a washing machine, and a good bathroom. Breakfast includes eggs, sausages, toast with jam and your choice of coffee/tea/cocoa. There is a safe. I recommend the hotel 1000%. Located next to the bus station, mosque and 5 minutes walk from the hypermarket.
