The Countryman Inn

There is new management ... Forget the bad reviews of 2022 they no longer apply. Service was attentive and friendly. Lovely log fire was welcome too. The food was excellent with something for everyone on the menu. My, usually very particular, friend raved about the Vietnamese Prawn Curry. We are local and hadn't been here for years because it wasn't great but now we will definitely be going there to eat fairly frequently.
Boscombe Spa Hotel

I had the pleasure of staying here in October 2020. John and Christine did everything possible to keep us all safe from Covid but still maintained a house party atmosphere. The rooms may not be modern but they are spotlessly clean and the food was lovely and there was plenty of it. Our tutor was Sharon Hurst who was fun and inspiring and ensured everyone had a great time. I will definitely visit again
Weatherbury Hotel

Booked this fairly late for a b/H weekend. Perfectly adequate but too far off the town centre for me. Basic room, decent shower, everything you'd expect other than shower gel (I spotted as I was leaving that there were a couple of bottles outside on the landing I could have borrowed). Free parking, decent pub with standard selection of beers & stuff. Sport on telly, pool table. Very basic self service breakfast, but better than nothing. Biggest plus was the friendly staff. Chatty, helpful & efficient I wouldn't put anyone off staying here, but I personally, like to be nearer the harbour.
The Hunters Moon
4.4/513 Reviews
From the moment we walked in the door of the public bar of Hunters Moon we knew we were in for a friendly stay. The lady behind the bar was most welcoming and immediately showed us to our ground floor room which was spacious and clean. The en-suite was adequate with a shower cubicle in it. The welcome tray was fully stocked every day and tasty biscuits along with bottled water provided daily as well. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful when we went in to the bar for an evening meal. With an extensive menu and a specials board we were spoilt for choice. My partner had the smoked eel starter with the locally made venison faggots for mains which he said was all delicious. I had the special pie of the day which was steak and mushroom but oh my word, it was enormous. Be careful what you ask for! The mashed potato was perfect as was the mixture of vegetables all cooked al dente. We stayed for three nights at Hunters Moon and the breakfasts were excellent with a choice of sizes. Nothing was rushed and we felt totally relaxed. This is a place that we look forward to staying in again when we next visit friends.
Bankes Arms Hotel
4.1/543 Reviews
What a disappointment of a Sunday lunch at the Bankes Arms. The building is stunning as is whole of Corfe Castle, but forget ordering any food. Shown to a table with a very uninterested young lady, who pointed to a box with clip board menus. Bar area looked a mess, piled up glasses with no room to move. Staff chatting rather than clearing up. It's the first view for anyone entering the place! We had to ask to order drinks, placed our order for 2 roast lamb and 2 beef....... then we sat and waited. Oh and we waited. And waited for over 40 mins before 'we' had to ask can we have a drink & how is food order going. Food was poorly presented piled high topped with a yorkshire pudding. Meat on top of red cabbage & some other unrecognisable shredded vegetable. A carrot ? or suede 'baby food' puree spread across the plate. The roast potatoes were dreadful, clearly re heated in a deep fat fryer. The carrot & the parsnip were the highlight of the plate. The Yorkshire pudding was rubbery, cold if not stale. Meat was poor. Had the look for pre packed sliced meat. The cauliflower was lovely & cheesy. It was not busy, just seemed a bit chaotic and unorganised. The staff need to be given a bit of direction! The only thing we didnt need to sit waiting for was the bill, which arrived promptly after asking for it. I would suggest a calculator for behind the bar. Maybe a quick look before at the food hygiene certificate rating would have helped us. Such a shame 😪 in a prime location within this historic village with a bit of TLC, organisation, and a good Chef this could be a Star Attraction in this beautiful area. Come on 'Bankes Arms Hotel' - step up and show the visiting world how we can do things in the UK 🇬🇧

The Charlton Inn
3.9/54 Reviews
From the outside it looked lovely, nice rooms set back from the pub/restaurant itself, plenty of outside space and adequate parking. The room smelt very strongly of damp and foist, there was lots of mould all over and cobwebs left. Roller blind had squashed dead bugs on, dressing table stool was wobbly and it was just seemed neglected. Location was great for what we needed, restaurant was decent but was really disappointed with the room, so was my 8yr old daughter who picked up on the smell immediately. If I could have found another hotel once I’d been in the room I would have. Thankfully we didn’t spend much time in it as we had a busy itinerary, would certainly visit the area again but unfortunately not the hotel
