"The room is very spacious, and the location is excellent, right next to Lushan Mountain, perfect for a hike. There are plenty of food options nearby, and you can also order takeout. I heard the guesthouse offers shared meals, but I didn't participate. The atmosphere was quite nice, with lots of chatting and laughter. There's a pool table on the third floor, but no one to play with me! 😂 Downstairs, there's a very cute blue cat. When I came back from Silver Beach in the afternoon, it was all alone, so I petted it, and it immediately became very friendly. When I sat down, it came closer and rubbed against me. ☺️ It even jumped onto the table and nuzzled my shoulder! 😀"

"I had such a comfortable stay in the four-person dorm at Backpackers Ten Years Hostel on Chunxi Road in Chengdu this time! The location is truly unbeatable. It's super close to Chunxi Road, making it incredibly convenient for shopping and visiting attractions. Subway and bus stops are also easy to find, which is perfect for anyone wanting to explore all of Chengdu. The four-person dorm was clean and tidy, and the beds were very comfortable. The bedding had a subtle, fresh scent, completely avoiding the usual messy feeling of multi-person dorms. Each bunk had its own curtain and charging port, showing great attention to both privacy and convenience, which I really appreciated. The common areas were also well-maintained, with a lounge and a kitchen. It was lively chatting with friends from all over the world – the atmosphere was fantastic. The staff, both the guys and girls, were incredibly friendly and helpful, answering all my questions and even recommending Chengdu's best food and travel routes. They made me feel very welcome. The value for money is excellent too. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Chengdu!"

"This hostel was pretty decent. The location is super convenient, right on Wanhe Road in Qingyang District, very close to Kuanzhai Alley West Street subway station. It made getting around to attractions, finding food, and catching taxis incredibly easy. I stayed in an 8-bed female dorm, which had a Jin Keer mattress that was just the right balance of soft and firm – perfect for unwinding after a long day of sightseeing. The 24-hour front desk was a lifesaver; even arriving in the middle of the night, someone was there to check me in. Plus, they offer free luggage storage, so I didn't have to haul my bags around while exploring. The room was clean and tidy, and the individual lockers provided excellent security. The Wi-Fi was fast and reliable throughout the entire building, no issues with streaming videos or uploading photos. The common areas were also kept very neat. The owner was just okay, but the staff were all gentle and thoughtful, even proactively recommending authentic local snacks. It's fantastic value for money, and as a solo female traveler, I felt safe and got a great deal. I'd definitely consider staying here again next time I'm in Chengdu."

The Kinmirai Gallery Hostel(Chunxi Road Taiguli store) is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. Visitors to Chengdu will find that the Kinmirai Gallery Hostel(Chunxi Road Taiguli store) is a fantastic accommodation choice. Traveling to the hotel is easy with Chengdudong Railway Station located approximately 7km away and Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport roughly 19km away. The closest major public transportation, Chengdu Second People's Hospital Metro Station, is only 500m away. This hotel is located near many of Chengdu's attractions including Chunxi Road, Chengdu Naked-Eye 3D Screen and Van Gogh Star Art Museum (Chengdu Chunxi Road Flagship Store). In their spare time, guests can explore the hotel's surroundings. Our guests consider this hotel to have excellent service. For guests traveling alone, this hotel is consistently one of the most popular choices.

"Service: The hotel provides individual toiletries, slippers, earplugs, and a bottle of mineral water for each guest. Environment: The hotel exterior has a very artistic vibe. The first floor is a public dining and lounge area, and there's also a small art gallery. Right outside, you'll find the old residential area in downtown Chengdu, making life very convenient. Facilities: The men's dorm restroom has a washing machine and sinks, with separate toilet stalls. The shared large shower cubicles are all equipped with shower gel and shampoo. There's also a communal drying area. Each bunk pod has coat hooks and power outlets. Entry is via an automatic door activated by a key card. At the entrance, there are shoe cabinets for changing shoes, with each small locker clearly marked with its corresponding bunk number. However, there are a few drawbacks: the men's restroom floor is slippery and quite dirty inside. The ladders for the bunk beds are poorly designed, making it inconvenient to climb up and down. The curtain pull cords are also not very smooth, often getting stuck and making a loud noise when pulled. The hard curtains easily hit the metal railings and wooden frame of the pod, which can disturb those who are resting."

Hotel near Wenshu Monastery/Longhu Shangcheng Sky Street,Chengdu
POSHPACKER Lvyouji Youth Hostel (Chengdu Wenshu Monastery Branch) is situated along the picturesque Fu'nan River, just an 8-minute walk away from the renowned "Wenshu Monastery" and "Wenshu Fang Folk Culture Street" (a well-preserved historic district in downtown Chengdu), as well as the "Renmin North Road Subway Station" and "Wanda Plaza" (offering a variety of dining options, cinemas, and shopping venues), ensuring convenient transportation and easy access to local attractions. Founded in 2004, this hostel is a globally recognized veteran backpacker haven, featured as an ideal choice by authors in the Lonely Planet guidebooks. Housed in a 30-year-old building, the hostel blends traditional Sichuan folk-style architecture with vibrant ethnic decor. Though compact, it boasts unique charm, featuring various themed nooks, an outdoor garden, and a rooftop terrace—perfect spaces to unwind after a day of travel. Operated by backpackers for backpackers, the hostel offers tailored services including Wi-Fi, self-service laundry, bike rentals, a book-sharing library, communal activities like hot pot dinners, dumpling-making sessions, and craft workshops, as well as travel consultations and tour bookings. If you love traveling, you’ll feel right at home in this traveler’s sanctuary.

"I had a private room on the rooftop. Pros: the rooms are pretty clean and the bedding is clean. The bathrooms are separate and shared use, but the set-up of the ladies bathrooms is good, the shower area is private and you have your own space to change. The hostel organises a lot of group activities, so u can meet ppl if u wish Cons: the beds are hard and mattresses are thin. You will not be able to sleep on them. I ended up taking the doona from one bed and putting it on top of the other, and still struggled to sleep. Being on the rooftop, each room has chairs outside to sit and chill, this means that people come back at 2, 3, 5am or whatever and sit and talk/drink, and the sound goes right through the thin windows/doors. "Fine overall (after switching rooms). Booked the 4-person room only to get noisy snorers, one at a time. A little too intimate for my taste as I was constantly being talked to otherwise because we were the only 2 in that room. Next time I’d go for a larger group room or one just for myself. I ended up switching to a single-person room due to the outlandish snoring (the whole bunk was shaking). Location is pretty far from any subway station and people smoke in the elevator and stairways (no surprise there). Staff was always nice and accommodating."

According to our guests, this hotel provides a very high level of service. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling alone.

"The emplacement is rather nice, it's in a narrow street that allows for a more peaceful environment. If you want to call taxis though, they won't get in, you will have to walk to the bigger road (very close by) To get to the reception, you will have to climb stairs. If you get a room with shared toilets, just be sure you can handle squat toilets. The walls are rather thin but earplugs are being provided. The shared shower area only has heads that can't be moved from the wall. The shared room has thin mattresses, if you can't handle it, I would recommend a private room instead. If the room is full of luggage, it's possible to put some under the bed."

The location is fantastic, less than a ten-minute walk to Wenshu Monastery, and it's really easy to find. The environment is very quiet, and the beds in the quad room are bigger than dorm beds. There are also dedicated lockers for your belongings, which is a thoughtful touch. The en-suite bathroom has an East Asian style, while the room itself is decorated with a charming wooden, classic touch. The bedding smells lovely, with a subtle floral scent, and there were no hairs or dander – very clean. There's air conditioning and a very responsive hot water system. Most importantly, it's very close to both Wenshu Monastery and People's Park. This hostel is truly unique! What really captivated me was the cat downstairs; I honestly could spend all day just petting that sweet kitty. I'm very satisfied and definitely planning a second visit in the autumn!

The location of the hostel is very good, but the cleanliness was terrible. There were literally mushrooms growing near the sink in the bathroom. On top of that, I had a horrible experience with another guest in my dorm. When I arrived, she approached me wagging her finger like she was lecturing a child, demanding the room door stay open for fresh air because she disliked perfume (even though the AC was running). The next day, she flung the door wide open even tho she saw me getting dressed, which led to an argument. The night before my checkout, between 10 PM and 1 AM, she opened the door 3 times. When I woke up past midnight due to her noise, she was loudly complaining and slammed the door open. I was mad and immediately closed it and told her in English to be quiet. She grabbed my arm and tried to push me aside to open the door, while shouting at me and saying in English that this is a public room. She went to the reception to complain about me. The staff immediately blamed and accused me of spraying perfume in the middle of the night without even asking for my side of the story. Later, it turned out I hadn't sprayed anything. Although the staff eventually apologized, the way the situation was handled was completely unprofessional and unacceptable.

Chengdu XiangPi Inn

I stayed at Chengdu XiangPi Inn for one night (April 14–15, 2026) and booked a bed in the 6-person male-only shared room. Overall, it was a solid budget-friendly option, but there are a few things worth noting depending on what you’re looking for. The biggest plus is definitely the price—you get exactly what you pay for, and for a short stay it does the job. The room itself was fairly basic but functional. The bed was decent enough for one night, and the space didn’t feel overly cramped despite having multiple occupants. That said, privacy is minimal, as expected in a shared dorm setup. Cleanliness was okay, though not perfect. The shared bathroom was usable but could have been maintained a bit better, especially during busier hours. If you’re particular about hygiene, this is something to keep in mind. The atmosphere was quiet enough when I stayed, and most guests were respectful, which made it easier to rest. Staff interactions were limited but smooth—check-in and check-out were straightforward without any issues. Overall, Chengdu XiangPi Inn is a practical choice if you’re traveling on a tight budget and just need a place to sleep for a night or two. It’s not luxurious, but it’s functional and reasonably comfortable for short stays.
