Mali Resort Koh Kradan

PROS: - Location, amazing beaches and crystal clear waters (as others have stated) - super friendly staff - Resort is the best location on the island as it is far away from day tourists - food (lunch/dinner) is excellent and def better than at the other resorts - garden/landscape very well maintained (other resorts on the island look very “natural”) - few minutes to walk over to a beach to watch the sunset (although leaving the hotel you will see A LOT of garbage unfortunately) - not many people on the whole island which is hard to find nowadays in Thailand CONS: - bungalows (houses) pretty basic, new AC but could do with a little bit of maintenance (painting, drains…). Beds are very hard! - staff was unable to get us a boat within 5 days for a fishing trip, “agent has only one boat and cannot get”, well then get another agent or add another one. Went next door to Reef resort and booked a trip instantly - breakfast is (still) a disaster, very chaotic (seems to have been mentioned in previous reviews). Choice is limited but ok, but please just assign 1 more staff who knows what to do! dirty dishes, it takes forever until food/drinks are restocked…running out of basically everything…so you need to be patient and/or keep expectations low. - Food supply: for several days, only half of the menu was available…so better check before you sit down. but as mentioned above, food is great (Thai, western) - cocktails take forever, once again, be patient Overall, it was ok but given the hefty price (10.000 THB per night high season) you would expect more. You definitely pay for the location!

We will definitely return! Thank you very much for the attentive and caring Nam, manager .Ms June, all the staff of Yuebunch for hospitality, home atmosphere and care. We booked an improved noméo on the 2nd floor, and got it. Ngmer is very spacious, clean, bed wide, with a comfortable mattress, snowy bed and underwear. All the necessary set of carpets are also present, including beaches. Fen, a spacious refrigerator. Water pressure in the shower is excellent, (by opium I know that on small islands with this problem). Breakfast is very delicious, satisfactory, on choice of 4 options (see photo) During the day you can drink chpi, coffee, everything you need always eat in the kitchen-table. The only thing, not always worked well on the Internet, but we didn't tense, because we needed it rarely. The guest house was excellent, everything is nearby. You can walk from the dock on a straight street, on which both cafes, shops, turbine, and renting motorbikes. At the same time, right next to the beach. The sea in this place is small because of the strong waterfall, but it is mystically to walk 50 meters left, there is the sea .faster back to the place. If we repeat the island of Muk, we will be found only in Mukbunch.
The Reef Resort

This is a tough one to review. On the one hand, you have the prime location on one of the most beautiful islands in Thailand if not in the world. On the other hand, the resort itself is very average for the price. To quote the resort’s website, ”The Reef Resort in Koh Kradan Thailand is a corner of paradise and with 18 luxury beachfront and sea view rooms will allow you to enjoy the crystal emerald Andaman Sea and the lush tropical gardens.” I fully agree on the beauty of the paradise island, but the above seems a bit of an overstatement in terms of the actual accommodation. The rooms are clean but very simple. Basically just a bed (decent one), a fridge, AC and an outdoor bathroom. The decor is very minimalistic but that’s what we expected. The rooms do not really have much a view to speak of. They are tightly placed in a U-shaped building, giving you a distant feeling of staying in a tropical motel. To have any privacy, you need to keep the curtains closed all the time. The sea view is limited and indirect, blocked by the trees and the bar hut. What you mainly look at is a sunburnt yellow/brown lawn (at the least during the hot season) and the pool. The difference to some of the neighboring resorts with their well kept gardens is striking. It seems that the Reef has decided not to upkeep the garden, maybe to save resources. During our stay we did not see a gardener around. If this is their choice, I would rather suggest them to replace the lawn with sand as a continuation of the beach. I would also pay more attention to the overall appearance of the property. Eg. the building where they have table tennis and a small kiosk was really messy and unorganized. The breakfast was simple but adequate with white toast, sausage, bacon, pancakes, a couple of warm options plus some fruit (pineapple and watermelon). Eggs were prepared by order. I would suggest them to improve the way the breakfast is presented - it was not very very attractive with many food items served on foil. What was really annoying is that there were lots of flies all around during the breakfast hours. I know this is something normal in a tropical environment but at least they could try to manage the situation, eg by very regularly raking the sand on which the tables are placed. I never saw them raking the sand although this could help to mitigate the root problem by removing the eggs etc. We had most of our meals at their restaurant. The Thai food was decent but not spectacular. The prices were reasonable. Some of the waiters could practice showing a happier face with their customers. The beach is spectacular with a coral reef just in front. The resort has canoes, SUP boards and snorkeling equipment for their guests free of charge. The swing in the beach is also great. I also recommend waking up at 6am to see the sunrise, it’s really beautiful. It can get a bit busy later in the morning and around noon when day trippers arrive (this mainly affects the neighboring Seven Sea

A very good place, the beach scenery is pleasant, there are almost no tourists, it is very quiet, the hotel service is warm and the food tastes good, there are not many accommodation options here, it is really relaxing here, but the normal bathing water has not been restored yet It was always cloudy and I couldn't take a shower and had to leave, but I would definitely come here again! In addition, it is recommended to directly replace the water in the swimming pool with sea water, or add part of the sea water, so that disinfection is not needed and it is more suitable for swimming!

We had a house in the 2nd row (unfortunately everything else on Koh Kradan was fully booked). While the room was okay, the bathroom shocked us. Peeling black painted tiles, a defective toilet flush that didn't work even after repairs, a bad smell and a heavily corroded faucet. Even a large cockroach sometimes came out of a crack. There was only “cold” water for showering. The sink and toilet were never cleaned, the bedroom was only roughly swept, the duvet was straightened, towels were changed, toilet paper and drinking water bottles were added. Duration 2 minutes! The positive thing was that there was working air conditioning (but air flow onto the bed) and the mattress was reasonably comfortable. The breakfast is below average, it took far too long for everything to be refilled. The restaurant was mediocre, communication in English was difficult and the starters almost always came after or during the main course. The beach on Koh Kradan is very beautiful, but the “resort” was unfortunately the low point of our trip.

This is a split review. The hotel is every bit as spectacular as it looks in the pictures. It’s built on what appears to be a giant sandbar coming out of the east coast of the island and is beautifully laid out with the restaurant at the tip to make breakfast and dinner a visual experience. The rooms are great and like most others suggest I would pay up for the beachfront so you can get the best of nature and especially sitting outside for the slow sun rise if you’re an early bird like me. The hotel is located perfectly - a 2 minute walk from the village. Thereafter everything becomes a bit difficult and it’s like the hotel is battling to take away from you what it has given with the surroundings. The shower is barely more than a trickle and is annoying because you need 3 or 4 per day with the heat and sand. The breakfast is awful - too spicy, covered in flies, overcooked or soggy and old. Note though that the evening restaurant is excellent. They charge to use their bikes and kayaks. Don’t do that Silvalai, it’s cheap. There’s not enough water in the room so you are compelled to buy the premium brands. They have 3 shops but I’ve never seen any of them open. The pools are lined with plastic not tiles. There’s quite a lot of rubbish lying around on the pier-side walk to the village. Koh Mook is a great place to spend 3 or 4 days and if you do come Silvalai is the best option, and I enjoyed it, but they are several tweaks away from being a top resort in my opinion.
