This is a fascinating location built over the excavations of a house from well more than 700 years ago. There are views of this from inside the hotel and options to get closer, though all is protected by plexiglass barriers. There is an interesting library area near the reception that's well worth checking out. They allow you to take books to your room. Please remember to return them. The rooms - the first room was so small the door wouldn't open past halfway without being stopped by the bed. There was also an electric panel next to the bed that buzzed non-stop all night long. The second room was much better. It was larger and the electric panel was far from the bed. The biggest drawback is, and apparently this is true of some other rooms, the shower floor has a surface that could be well used as an artificial ice skating rink. The most slippery surface I have ever encountered. They have non-slip mats at the reception, not in the rooms! Ask for one before you find out how much you wish you had. When I told them about how slippery it was they eventually responded by saying they had installed non-slip surface in the showers. One wonders at their definition of non-slip, or whether they had been told that but had not themselves given it a try out. Perhaps the non-slip part was next to the floor instead of where you stand?

Due to the Covid situation the last time we were in Portugal was in 2019... This summer we got vaccinated and my daughter, 17 and myself 50, we left Zürich to visit our relatives. We decided to travel around Portugal. We booked a room by using the hotel's homepage and they were very professional. The hotel is located in a beautiful place surrounded by nature. From our balcony we could see the lagoon where we went bathing. It takes a few minutes to get there. The beach has the quality flag from the EU. Not only the hotel room was huge but also the WC and the balcony! There is a pol service and towels are for free. We felt very cosy there and we sat sometimes on the chairs whenever we did not want to use the reclyning chairs. Plenty of place for all! The covid measures are followed all time. The meals: I must say that some Swiss hotels should visit this hotel...the buffet for breakfast was very big and diverse. Alwasy Covid conformed. You can order anytime a meal during the day and for dinner due to the covid regulations you should reserve a table in advance. There was a buffet for dinner with several starters, soup, fish, meat, pasta, desserts, etc. The price is extremely low. All included except drinks costs around 18.00 euros...If you have been to hotels similar to this one you know that this is a low price. The service was very professional and always ready to work. A last comment concerning Alex from the reception: such a kind person! We were impressed by his positive attitude and he is an excellent employee! Thanks Alex!

We received a warm welcome on arrival at the hotel. Receptionist spoke English and offered us drinks which was lovely with the bar overlooking the river. The pool was open which was ideal because we had found many hotel pools closed in April. The pool wasn't heated but was warm enough being sited in the sun. Room wasn't big but had a lovely view of the river and a balcony to sit on. Breakfast was good.
