The Olive Motel

Spent 7 nights at this location during the wettest week ever in January 2023. Great location the room was clean, practical, bright and airy. David was so helpful in recommending places to visit, local eateries and general tips about The Coromandel. Easy walking distance to town for supermarkets and places to eat. Even on very wet and windy days we were very comfortable.
Harbour View Motel

Although we had booked the economy room at the back with garden view, we had a small private terrace at leisure. And finally *** could sleep with the door open and singing birds, because there were mosquito nets (the first time in NZ after more than three weeks!). Equipment modern and at a high level. We would return, but the next time with water view book - these units looked fantastic even for longer stays!

I am 2 adults and 1 child. I didn't expect to add children when I made the reservation. Therefore, only 2 adults were written on the order. For single bunk beds. When I left the next day, I was asked to make up for $40 because I was late for check-in and didn't tell them there was a child (they meant that they had to tell them the actual number of people for safety, but I didn't have an extra bed). I really don’t know that the last checkin time is 8pm. I only saw 2pm-10pm check out on the order. I arrived at 8:45, no one at the front desk, closed the door. In fact, the old couple slept in the house. Calls are not answered. Can't get in touch either. Fortunately, a compatriot from Taiwan helped me explain the situation without knowing what phone call was made (the old man came out immediately, if there is no help from the compatriots, I am ready to sleep in the car for one night), but he was immediately scolded by the old man. After a meal, the old lady appeared the next morning. . There is a kitchen, but the place to wash your face is separated from hot and cold water. Other foreigners staying in are very good, even I can't understand what to say is bad attitude. If I came earlier, it might be another treatment. I arrived here at 7 o'clock in the evening from Hot Water Beach. Who knew that the mountain roads were so difficult to open, and it was cloudy and dark. No one would always go abroad. But they are not easy. Mutual understanding. But I want to explain the situation.

We gave it 5 stars for everything. It's not '5 star' but it was for us for example, we don't care about the location as we had a car and so everything was accessible. There was loads if space both instead ade and out, the staff were lovely and although it's kinda old, it does not impact the quality of your stay as the little house had everything including great linen and superb shower pressure

We stayed here two nights to enjoy the Coromandel area. The owners are lovely…very welcoming and gave us information for visiting the area etc. It is very eco friendly and they grow/make much of what they serve from the bread, jams, etc. It is a lovely property with sitting areas on both sides of the house. There is even a kitchen for guests to use as well as a living area. The only downside is it is a little dated, but very clean etc.
