Hotel Dekyid

We landed up in Dekyid Hotel - Keylong, looking for a place to stay for a couple of days. since our trip did not include travel up till ***, we wanted to park ourselves in Keylong. You will find guest houses (basic rooms) on the main Keylong - *** highway, however, there are many hotels near the Keylong bus stand (we didn't check those), then you can book online the HPTDC hotel Candrabagha - its location is the best. We however ventured down to the main market where we checked out Tashi Deleg hotel. This is a big hotel, good, has budget friendly rooms to higher priced rooms. The rooms were not really to our liking in terms of hygiene and cleanliness, so we walked further and checked out Hotel Dekyid. Despite no prior booking, the owners did their best to call and confirm other online bookings and immediately provided us with a room. The room was neat and clean, the washrooms were spotless (i have yet to see such clean washrooms even in 5 stars in big cities). The food is good. We ordered food in the room itself. This is the only hotel with power backup. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. Tip :: You may be breathless as Keylong is at 10000 ft, so please carry meds (consult your doctor), and keep yourself well hydrated.

Awesome Views. Friendly and Helpful Host with great knowledge of Surrounding Areas. Lovely food. Decent Rooms. One of The Best In the Area. Apt for Large families and Solo alike. Sonam Ji the owner of this Hotel is indeed very good host. Treat his place like a home and you will feel right. Sonam ji has very good local knowledge and grip on his area. He also is very perceptive. He can organize the tours and outings or day trip from this hotel. The Catering also is good food and accommodates small requests if possible. On Busy days its tough for them to accommodate everything. Hotel does remain booked. In hilly high-altitude mountains of Lahaul district one needs to expect comfortable rooms. One needs to know small things are tough to come by and hence super luxury is out of question. This hotel is indeed one of the best in this area. Its comfortable. You must know that the knowledge and experience of the Locals can save your life in such remote Areas. Acute Mountain Sickness while travelling to Bara La Cha and generally in Lahaul or Spiti is expected. Sonam ji has such a keen eye that within minutes of seeing you; he can assess if you are suffering with such sickness. He not only recognised it amongst us for 3 people. But he hospitalised my husband immediately in his car. Hospital is 5 minutes away. He ensured everyone else was given care and remained Hydrated. He also arranged for car at late 10pm; when my husband; after two hospitalisation did not do very well. Sonamji told us to go towards lower altitude even if it meant night travel. He gave the mental support required for us to make it work. He also ensured that the rest of the group felt energised to still remain back and enjoy the stay even though two people had to travel back to lower altitude. He said ”yeah to hota hai, the moment they will go to Manali and cross Atal Tunnel they will feel fine; Baki sab sleep well and aap itni door ayein hai to idhar ki achhi jagah dekhein. unko Kuchh Nahi Hoga”. The small encouragement like that, and the medical care, and decisions that he help us make, ensured safety and enjoyment. You do need such people with you when you are at remote places. Your money is not for the comfortable stay but for the safety and expertise which is essential at such a place. The stay here is very comfortable is added bonus. Insight: Warm Water with ginger and Honey is good, Food is good, Host is amazing, Rooms are Comfortable with clean nice interiors, Bathrooms are clean and very very good with hot water and great shower. Room Tip: Choose North Facing Rooms on higher floor (but almost all rooms have a view so not to worry); there is no elevator so choose rooms on 1st floor which is ground level for guests. Please go ahead a book without hesitation.
Hotel Spiti Heritage

We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights on 6th & 7th July 2023. We had booked 2 rooms for 2 families. The hotel was good, rooms were clean and the hotel staff were very friendly. The breakfast was simple and we opted for Bread toast / Poha (which was yummy) / Paratha. Could not expect more in a place like Kaza. Overall, nice hospitality. We travelled to Chandratral from Kaza and were expected to stay in Chandratral for 1 night and move on to Keylong. However, due to unexpected heavy snowfall, we were stranded in Chandratal for 5 days and once the road clearance was done, we return to Kaza since the road to Manali / Keylong were still blocked. Upon return to Kaza, we did not spend time looking for another hotel and checked in into Hotel Spiti Heritage. We were surprised when the hotel staff mentioned that they will not charge anything from guests returning from Chandratal. Nice gesture....

The best room view ever! rooms are wooden panel-led and there are good heating options for the cold weather. The food is excellent and anil took great care of us. Also being a little awat from the main road it's silent and isolated just like i prefer. Overall one of the best stays i have had in a while!
Hotel Ibex Jispa

Most people who are traveling to *** from Chandigarh would usually break their journey at Manali. For those like me who have been to Manali numberous times, I'd seriously recommend to strech your journey by 100 odd kms and make a run for Jispa for your night halt. Jispa is a beautiful town located in Lahaul district of HP providing the most stunning views of the surrounding Mountains. Hotel Ibex is located exactly on the highway to ***. My check in process was smooth and hassle free. I found the tariff a bit on the higher side but that was OK since we had heard about this hotel and did not want to compromise on our stay. For food, they have a buffet or you can order on a la carte basis. I'd suggest to go for their buffer since they have a lot of varieties. As expected, the food was piping hot and delicious. The rooms were basic but a good nights sleep is guaranteed. If you are not short on time, you can even spend a full day here and then proceed towards ***. Since most of the tourists leave pretty early in the morning, they made sure that breakfast is ready and was promptly served to us. Overall I was pretty satisfied with my stay and would definitely stay again.
