Hotel Kaiserhof Eisenach

Kaiserhof is an old fasioned hotel - in its best sense. Brown panels, red/purple thick carpets, room keys that weighs a kilo... With its origin from the last century much of the old charm has been retained. Renovated several times it does however keep up with what you expect in a modern hotel. The reception/lounge/bar is really very nice with stucco and chandeliers hanging from the high ceiling. A good spot to relax after a long day. Rooms are quite stylish and lacks - thankfully - carpeting. Comfortable beds and all basic amenities you need. Breakfast is german-ish exstensive and is served in a light and bright breakfast room. Staff kind and helpful. Only problem is a single elevator, that takes its time between the floors. If a large group of guests arrives or leaves, prepare for some waiting. Kaiserhof has two restaurants: the fine dining ”Turmschänke” (reviewed separately) and the simpler and very affordable ”Zwinger” in the basement (also reviewed separately) where typically german dishes are served. If you like a touch of the old days, this is a very recommended hotel. If you on the other hand prefer a modern boutiqueish style, then look elsewhere.

The hotel is very conveniently located on the edge of the city centre towards Wartburg and Dragon Schlucht and near the Bach House and thus an ideal starting point for any possible exploration. The staff is very friendly, room service works very well. As well, the breakfast buffet was rich and good. There is nothing to defect here. Wi-Fi worked smoothly. The garage is only suitable for normal cars and has only a few places. Great or heavy vehicles should use the costly parking lot in the area of the former brewery. However, we believe that the hotel does not deserve its four stars. For example, there is neither a minibar nor another way to get drinks later in the evening or night. The hotel bar (which is connected to the rental restaurant) closes at 22:00. However, we were friendlyly referred to a very close, good and cheap lounge bar, which saved our group the ”angry evening”. In the old building, some other criteria are not met and the rooms have already come somewhat into the years (e.g. poorly closed bath door ...) Conclude: friendly, well located, but not all expectations. We can still recommend the house with good conscience. Just think of a star away!

There was a very nice room in the roof floor. Great and spacious. Bad with bathroom and rain shower. All very clean and maintained. Breakfast was unfortunately something unilateral and not so overview. A cup with coffee at the table would be great as you stand around the machine. The Croissants were too sweet and of poor quality. The other seeds went but had no baker freshness. There is a lot of potential to improve.
Hotel am Markt

The hotel at the market is a great accommodation for city trips. We had a large room, not very modern but well furnished. A comfortable bed with 2 kitchens. Great bathroom, unfortunately the toilet behind the washboard is close to reach. Big choice at breakfast, fresh fruit and vegetables, yoghurt and more.
Land- Und Golfhotel Alte Fliegerschule

We were three colleagues at a short dinner stop between Frankfurt and Leipzig in Bel Air Restaurant. Had stayed here too. Very friendly reception and service. Covered tables expect one. The fabric serviettes would better meet the demand of the restaurant than the simple paper serviettes. There is saving at the wrong place. Bovine roulade with blue herb and sticks for € 19.50 - was good and ordinary. Unfortunately, the shops cannot convince it. They made the impression of the finished product. And that in the country of the shop!!! At 19,50€ I wish to have fresh self-made shops. Otherwise a recommendable restaurant. Thanks to the very friendly lady that served us and the prima service I give very good. Reduces to food and price rather satisfactory. Also because of lack of material supplies, which would be very good to the claim and the environment as already written.

The hotel is very convenient in the center of the city. The internal facilities are very good and the restaurant is good. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The staff is nice. Parking is possible, but the entrance and exit of the underground parking lot is very narrow, which tests parking technology. The parking fee is slightly higher.
