Baan Nukanong Guesthouse

Amphoe Mueang Chiang Rai
We had an amazing stay here and extended several days. The guesthouse is a little way out of the centre of Chiang Rai, but they are also aware of this and offer lots of information and help for booking taxis/tuktuks or bike hire. Great place, if you do hire a bike, as this place is much better value than the places in the centre. It is also only a half hour walk from the Blue Temple, which we found helpful. The room is bright, spacious and very clean. The Reception area is a comfortable place to sit. There is a water boiler and microwave available 7am-10pm along with free teas and coffees. They also have a selection of frozen/microwave meals, snacks and drinks for sale. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They send postcards home for us, and helped us book our slow boat up to Luang Prabang. Cannot recommend enough, if you don't mind being a little outside town.

Overall, this was a good place to stay. There was a café right next door where we got coffee in the morning and a Western-style restaurant where we had dinner both nights. The room was pretty clean, although there was an issue with ants in the bathroom. We got a balcony room because we thought it would be nicer, but it was extremely loud in the mornings since there is a school across the street. I'd recommend this place but would suggest that you get a normal room instead of a balcony room.

The staff are so friendly and the rooms are clean and smells amazing 🤩 the location is okay if you have a motorbike. The breakfast needs more variety but the quality of the served breakfast was perfect and everything was fresh. Just one point thing i believe it will help more is that the location pin has to be updated because it was not very accurate and it is around 300 meters aprox.
Sleepy House Chiang Rai

It's a perfect place to stay with friends. The TV has Netflix, the air conditioner works well, and the veranda isn't wide, but it was fine. The scent of the diffuser is rather strong, so if you are sensitive, it would be nice to leave a message in advance. It is near the bus stop, so it is convenient to move around. There are many brunch cafes around, so if you want to eat Thai food, it's better to go a little farther. I recommend mom mai restaurant. It is said to be a northern cuisine, but the menu is very numerous and delicious. I don't know if the water in Chiang Rai is good or if this accommodation is good, but the shower filter that turned yellow in a day in Chiang Mai didn't change at all here. All the staff are very kind. The laundry service was also satisfactory, and I checked out late because of the bus time, but they moved my luggage to another room because the room I was using was reserved. It's a two-story building, but there are only stairs, so be prepared to carry your luggage. Breakfast was good for a light bite. Above all, the cat is so kind and cute... From the veranda on the 2nd floor, I saw a cat lying in the yard downstairs and greeted it, and as soon as it saw us, it came up to the 2nd floor. It's a dog cat.. He came into the room and played. I could feel that the owner and staff really love cats. Please note that the cats stay in the house during the day because it is hot and come out around the sun setting and walk around the accommodation.

It is very close to the Black House Museum. We came here after visiting the Black House Museum. Among the green trees, it felt great and I really didn’t want to leave. The male host of the guesthouse is a Westerner, and the hostess is a local. Simple English communication is no problem.

The environment is elegant and quiet, and the delicious breakfast is a good start to the day. The breakfast main course has Chinese and Western Thai options. In addition to coffee tea, it also provides chocolate, oysters (coffee plus tea) and fruit, which is very careful. The hotel staff is attentive and actively introduces tourism activities to provide the best service. There are free bicycles available to travel around the city. The rooms are clean and well-set. The lights can be white or yellow at home. The facilities are very complete. It takes 20 minutes to walk to the city center and is also suitable for a walk after dinner. CR Bus in the city center could not be found at the airport, and the relevant personnel reported that it was temporarily cancelled and arrived by taxi 160B.

Rommai Villa Chiang Rai

We had a great stay in this small, upscale little property located in Ban Du, about 20 minutes north of Chiang Rai. Room: we booked the Superior King and loved it. Our room was spacious, airy, nicely decorated and had a splendid view of the koi pond and bridge. The room and the grounds had a couple of kitschy design elements, but they were more than compensated for by the lovely landscaping and artistic attention to detail. The shower and the bed were both outstanding, and there were ample electrical outlets. One issue, and it was significant: Internet through WiFi was inadequate, unusable at times, often requiring me to turn off WiFi to go online. Not a deal breaker, but definitely a dissatisfier. Staff: the family who own the villa are kind, helpful and attentive. The daughter speaks good English and was a delight to interact with. Food: each day you pick your breakfast and time to eat for the next day. A robust American platter (eggs, meats and toast) is available, as are a number of quite respectable Thai dishes. Dinner can be ordered (we didn't) in advance. A number of small restaurants border the lake, which is within easy walking distance. Location: we had no interest in spending time in the town of Chiang Rai, and had a car, so it was perfect for exploring the many sights to the north and west. Overall, I highly recommend this villa and enjoyed my 5-night stay.
