Pedras Salgadas Spa & Nature Park

A paradise in bright lands. We have been there, after a complicated year, emotionally speaking, so my wife decided to give us a romantic package, and by the way gave me an illusion never satisfied, so far as to sleep in a cabin, but it was still better, Because we have a tree house from which you doubt by seeing the branches on your head and your feet. Experience overcomes all expectations: wonderfully comfortable and cosy houses, the idyll forest environment, the fabulous restaurant gastronomy, the attention of all the reception staff and the restaurant's cabinets Superprofessional, very kind and charming. Thank you very much to all of them, and I'm sorry to not remember the names of all. ¡ We will certainly come back!
Quinta da Pousada Casa de Campo

Quinta da Pousada is a beautiful restored farm, located at N2. The rooms are spacious and have a balcony with views of the mountains with wine grapes. They are fine beds and the bathroom has a large rain shower. There is a beautiful pool and under the trees is a fine place with relaxing beds. There is a dinner opportunity but there is no menu card. Surprise, for €40,-- p.p you will be offered a 4-way menu of only local products. The food is taken into account, and all staff are very service-oriented. Andre looked for us for all sorts of things and showed us on the beautifully located rooftop race where we were allowed to use. Thanks Andre for your good concern, Antonio was very careful, especially when I came to tell you that I came to dinner one night alone, he was very compassionate. I would like to thank the cook for the rose that was put on my plate as a comfort, in short, a place where you are treated as a pleasant guest by all the staff. A adviser!
Quinta de la Rosa

This was a luxury one-night stay during our two-week Interrailing holiday. It’s pretty expensive - a great bedroom with an awesome view, but for some reason you have to take your nespresso pods to a communal machine to make coffee (which wasn’t explained to us at check in). Outdoor Tim’s Terrace bar was a fab place to sit and read and the oddly-shaped swimming pool was nice. The winery tour was underwhelming, easily bettered by one we recently did near Stroud (Woodchester) because there really isn’t that much to see. Our guide, Patricia, was enthusiastic and knowledgable with excellent English. Food at dinner was exceptionally good, and the many inexperienced staff coped ok. On another guest’s recommendation we opted for the accompanying mid-range wine flight - and were surprised to have four tiny glasses poured before the meal had even arrived. Our request for a small top up of white to accompany our starter was met with incredulity. At €26 each, given the wine only came from next door, this felt super costly. Breakfast was every bit as delicious as we’d hoped for. For some reason the hotel is reluctant to assist guests with station pick up, and I don’t know why. Arriving by train into Pinhao must be routine, but emails beforehand suggested we don’t bother and just drive. To be fair, reception did willingly book a return taxi. I suspect the local taxis are run as a cartel - we saw Mr Big in action “pirata, pirata” - and Quinta de la Rossa is not in his good books. So look, we had a great time overall, it was a bit of luxury and we don’t regret going. But it was a very, very expensive stay, and at that price I’d hoped for perfection, which we didn’t get.
Borralha Hotel, Restaurante & Spa
4.3/547 Reviews
We stayed in this hotel for a full weekend and the experience did not match our expectations of a 4-star hotel. The main negative point concerns the spa and swimming pool, which are announced as benefits but are charged EUR 15 per person for one hour of use. In addition, the reception staff insisted on the limitation to one hour per person, attributed to the alleged overbooking, leaving us finally disappointed and without trying the spa. The hotel was a cool and lifeless room, and we had a warming-up to 32 degrees, but the temperature was automatically lower, making us sleeping dressed for a part of the night. The hotel was very comfortable and very comfortable, and the hotel was very comfortable and very comfortable. In addition, the staff's behaviour during breakfast was unsorders, with a constant walk and walk around the buffet. We were also concerned about safety, because the car of the household woman showed the pass card for all rooms in the hotel, accessible to all, and this negligence in safety is unacceptable. Although the hotel is new, clean and welcome staff, these negative points, including the heating problem and unexpected costs for the spa, have significantly affected our experience. We are not particularly advised this hotel ... in winter.
Casa do Arco by Douro Exclusive

The location is spectacular, the people are amazing and that is before we even got through the door. Our visit began with Tony the house manager meeting us in the driveway. Tony is professional, caring and all-knowing when it come to things in the Douro Valley. Throughout your stay Tony will ensure every detail of your stay is perfect. After an hour or so you will be convinced that you are the only guest at the resort. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. We had a magnificent view of the valley that made us hesitant to leave the room. The living room is a common area on the first floor with great views and comfortable seating. We spent hours in here sampling wine, relaxing and meeting with a few other guests staying in the hotel. During the stay we got a chance to meet the owners Ana and Marco in the restaurant during breakfasts and dinner. Both are so knowledgeable and passionate about the valley, their place and ensuring their guests have a the best experience possible. Meals in the restuarant are some of the best we had anywhere on our trip. There is attention to every detail and the food is spectacular. We ate in the dining room for 2 of our 3 nights and wish we had stayed in the house for all three dinners. Should we return to the Douro Valley in the future this would be the only place we would even consider staying.
