Yunzeju Inn is very centrally located in the heart of ancient Pingyao. The staff was very helpful and always available. The Hanfu experience was fun and included in our stay. The room was spacious and could fit our two backpacks easily. The architecture of the builging was also a plus.

Highly recommend this hotel. The featured room is beautiful and facilities all clean and sufficient the courtyard building is also stunning. The owner and staff are very nice and help with all questions you have. They even picked me up and dropped me off at the train station. Location is close to the north gate of the city wall and around 10-15 walk to the busy tourist erea.

The Red Lantern Hostel in Pingyao offers both a real journey through time and all the modern conveniences. The welcome was very friendly, smiling and kind. I immediately felt at ease here. The room is large, the bed is huge and the heated floor was a real treat compared to my previous hotels where I was much colder! The room is well appointed and even if it shows signs of wear, it is clean, stylish and comfortable. But what I liked most about this hostel is the magnificent inner courtyard and the small rooftop and its lanterns (lit at night, it's just splendid!). Another bonus point: the breakfast (Chinese style, but that's what we're here for, right? ;)) and the little welcome gift, a bottle of local vinegar. In short, I highly recommend this hostel located in the heart of the old town, and what's more it's a good deal!

I have to say that this stay was the most prominent part of the trip to Datong. With the help of the housekeeper, the whole journey was smooth and beautiful enough. When we got out of the station, the boss's Alpha took us to the hotel and took us to see the room. We found that it might not meet our needs, so we agreed to adjust it very considerately. The room was very new and comfortable. Even though it was on the B1 floor, we could see the koi pond on the B2 floor when we opened the window (it was cold enough in Datong in winter, but B1 was warm). There were two large beds, both equipped with a XGIMI projector, and a member. Evian water and Dyson's air purifier and hair dryer were the icing on the cake. We could see a kind of thoughtfulness and sincerity belonging to the people of Datong. The free drinks and welcome fruits at the front desk made people feel like going home. The hotel is in a villa area, with elevators on all four floors. It is more exquisite and considerate than a hotel, and more advanced than a homestay. The villa area is like a traditional street with blue brick and stone roads, which is unique and more secure. The day before, the sister gave us the breakfast menu and asked us to choose as we pleased, saying that we had bought the food in advance. On the second day, there was a full table of freshly made breakfast, just like at home. They made it for us in the kitchen and served it to us (even though we got up very late). They also asked us if it was enough and if they could make more. On the second day, we left our bags at the front desk in advance. They even offered to send us to the high-speed rail station in the evening. Their enthusiasm was so great that we were embarrassed to decline. To be honest, this restaurant is new enough and you can feel enough sincerity, so I must write this seemingly overly flattering review to praise them. Doing things with heart will really make people extremely moved. I recommend everyone to feel it. Such sincerity is worth it.

Arrived at the hotel and greeted by friendly staffs. The room is big and comfortable. Staff readily offered to help me with transport to Yungang grottos. And thanks to them, I also managed to get transport and ticket to the Hanging Temple. Breakfast is fantastic too (although it was the same noodle for 2 days 😄). The hotel is also conveniently located at the foot of the ancient wall north gate, and I can enjoy myself quite late into the night without worry for safety. After 3 nights stay, the staff sent me off with a big smile. Overall, my stay in Datong is fantastic. Thank you ☺️

The owner are really kind, they speak English very well and, they are keen to chitchat with you after your day which is really nice when you are traveling alone. Also the hostel is really clean. On top of that, the hostel is nice with lot of plants. The location is great it's only 2 min walk to reach the old town. To conclude, i highly recommend this hostel in Pingyao and I would come back without any questions. Je suis resté 3 nuits dans cette auberge. Je l'ai trouvé vraiment très bien. Je m'y suis senti ”comme à la maison”. You have to stay here! Everything is perfect. Hotel is lovely. Staff are so welcoming and helpful. We had a problem and one staff member had excellent English and could solve our problem. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. Thank you again, I highly recommend your hotel.

Nanshe is a brand new hotel located in the downtown area. The building itself is brand new, modeled in chinese traditional courtyard style. The area is quiet but close to attractions and shopping streets 大同不夜城. It is located next to the datong ancient city walls north gate, within walking distance to nine dragons wall, huayan temple, shanhua temple and the Southeast Yi Historical and Cultural Block. There is also a bus stop outside that goes round the area.Cab fare is less than 30 rmb to Yungang Grottoes and Datong south highspeed train station. Friendly and attentive staff checking for allergy if any. The owner was kind enough to meet me at the train station. Breakfast is simple fare consists of millet congee with side dishes, tasty noodles in warm broth, toasts and local pastries etc. Freshly made coffee from a semi auto coffee maker. Hotel serves light sweet soup to guests before dinner. Free fruits and cookies in the lobby. Washing machine and dryer are avail for use. My room has an overhead projector with wide selection of movies. Clean and comfortable. Room has many wall sockets for charging. Bathroom is huge. Deposit 200 rmb as all the facilities are brand new. Enjoyable stay. Datong is delightful a comination of the old and new.

Great location, quiet neighborhood but not far from the center. The room is clean , comfortable and has the atmosphere of an old traditional home. It is the service that needs significant improvement to warrant the current four star rating.  The price was for two people and yet, there was one tea bag per person, a very small roll of toilet paper and the facial tissue bixes were almost empty. The breakfast was no better: ine boiled egg, a small bun, a bowl of sweet porridge and a tiny slice (about one tenth) of a sweet potato and a root vegetable, with a tiny portion of pickled cabbage. For a mainland B&B well below standard. What’s more, the old nan who was on duty in the morning would pick up dirt from the floor while handling food with bare hands and had trouble finding toilet paper in the storage room while I waited outside in freezing weather. The host is friendly and helped with orientation and organizing transfers to the railway station, so with little improvement in service this could be a good choice for Pingyao.

The service is very considerate. I will call you in advance to communicate. If you need to rent a car, leave a room, and send your luggage, the front desk is very friendly. It is very comfortable to live in the small courtyard. It is very pleasant to sit in the courtyard and relax in the evening while enjoying the breeze. The location is right at the north entrance, very convenient.

We were a group of four people. We arrived at the parking lot at the Ximen Gate of the ancient town. The electric car arranged by the B&B in advance was waiting. We took our luggage and sent it directly to the B&B. The boss greeted us at the door early. The luggage was delivered to the room while we checked in. The B&B is equipped with floor heating and air conditioning. It is not afraid of cold weather. Knowing that there are four of us, quilts, pillows and toiletries were also delivered. The B&B also displays a lot of treasures; the environment is hygienic, warm and comfortable, the service is thoughtful, and the staff is very diligent. They are always cleaning and wiping. The boss's wife is kind and kind. When we were catching the plane on the way back, she knew that we didn't make an appointment to send the motorcycle, and she helped to contact us. She also sent express delivery for the lost items. Great! I also like her breakfast, millet porridge, nine-square lunch box, exquisite and not wasteful, just suitable for me who has difficulty choosing, different styles, local Pingyao beef is also among them; in addition, yogurt, coffee, various beverages, etc. are also provided, all self-service! There is also a cat in the B&B, named Zhaocai. It is very docile and you can pet it at will, but it is too lonely. It would be perfect if there was another Jinbao!

Good experience in this boutique Hutong hotel in Pingyao . The room is big and extremely comfortable , the breakfast is in a local style , the cleaning is fine and the architecture is amazing . Really easy to get from the central train station and inside the ancient city.

The yard is large, antique, and the environment feels clean and very quiet. The most important thing is that the boss is very enthusiastic. Not only does he pick us up and drop us off, he also introduces us to the tour arrangements~ I will come again next time~(˶╹ꇴ╹˶)~

After searching online for a long time, I finally chose Gujia Inn with a try-it-out mentality. I didn't expect to have unexpected gains. First of all, the location is excellent. It is located in the center of the ancient city. It takes a few minutes to walk to various attractions in the city, and the farthest is no more than ten minutes. Ancient buildings, four archways, Daiwang Mansion, Nine Dragon Wall, Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, pedestrian streets and other attractions are all around. Restaurants and various local snacks are only a few minutes away. I ate the millet jelly, siu mai, knife-cut noodles, rabbit head, jelly, etc. that I had been thinking about. In addition, the inn is clean and sanitary, the service is warm, and it is convenient to travel. This trip was a pleasant surprise!

It's just across the street from Huayan Temple. Go there when it opens at 8am to avoid tour groups and large crowds. The room is large, and the upstairs is quiet, clean, and thoughtfully provides disposable bath towels and toilet seats, as well as body lotion and facial cleanser. The proprietress is kind and friendly. Datong is not cold at the end of October. Come and experience the charm of ancient buildings in Shanxi! A small suggestion, it would be more convenient to install a full-length mirror behind the door.

Nice place, Nice location; you can walk to the Ancient town, I took along time to catch nice scene along the city wall, park and canal. To get the hotel from Datong South Railway Station by bus no.31 from the bus station side(the area is connected), take around 30 minutes to get there (Yungang Jianguo hotel, the hotel is opposite, only 2 CNY, many food and minimart around there. There is Muslim food there if need(next to the entrance of C(behind the building). Nice service, self check-in, clean room and relaxing. the owner, you should to contact the owner before arrive, she so friendly and always help you, she suggested us about the famous local food and restaurants(Thank you so much). If you need to buy some necessary item and cannot buy at the around minimart, you can walk to the Yonghui Superstore by East side (the next junction) turn right to Yuhe West rd. (At the corner). From the hotel tobget Yungang Grottoes, you can take bus no. 31 (Yungang Jianguo side), get off at Shi Li Dian Cun Xi ( West Shilidian village), cross to another side and catch bus no.12 to the terminal stop(is Yungang Grottoes. Take 1 hour or 1.30 to get there.

Facilities: First of all, the room is very good, but the bed in the single room is a bit hard. The double room is okay, and the bathroom, kitchen and other facilities are also very complete. Hygiene: Basically satisfied, but the boss needs to work harder to pay more attention to some details Environment: The overall environment of the community needs to be improved, but the location is pretty good, but it is inconvenient that there are no shops nearby. This time I came to Datong with my children while on a business trip. I stayed at the Gongchen Hotel and the environment and hygiene were very good. Especially the staff were very nice and provided very considerate service. They helped me take care of my children when I went out alone👶My children were also very nice. I like staying here. The location is very convenient. You can walk directly to the Nine Dragon Wall of Huayan Temple. There are delicious tofu noodles and haggis noodles next to it. They taste very good. I will stay here again next time I travel or work.

We only stayed for one night but it was the best night ever because mr Wang behind the reception was there. He helped us kill a spider, fixed a broken thing and we even got a small souvenir as a gift from the Hotel. Wang is a legend 10/10 would recommend
